      Bootlicking apologists say "don't fight them during the police interaction, fight in a court of law." But for a lot of people, that's an impossible situation too. Most don't have thousands of dollars to spare on legal fees proving their innocence.

    • @PlanetBlake
      @PlanetBlake 3 года назад +1

      @@rabd3721 : It's not an impossible situation though. There are organizations, as well as individual lawyers out there, who will help people with cases like this even those they don't have a lot of money. Many lawyers can look at the initial facts of a case, and make a judgement that they have a good chance of winning a judgement, and will take on the case without the client needing to pay anything up front, and will bill you only after they win you a judgement/settlement.

    • @rabd3721
      @rabd3721 3 года назад +6

      @@PlanetBlake In theory it isn't impossible, but for some individuals, it's incredibly difficult to shift the odds in your favor. Not only are they financially constrained, their time and responsibilities are constrained too. Not everyone has the means to leisurely contact pro bono lawyers on their behalf, let alone having the means to convince them their case is winnable. There's the risk they'll get turned down anyways. Some people are working 3 jobs while raising kids, and the last thing they have time for is settling legal disputes. Even when they're innocent. Being poor is expensive, as they say.

    What Harriet Jacobs wrote 150 years ago still rings true today: "We sailed from New York, and arrived in Liverpool after a pleasant voyage of twelve days. We proceeded directly to London, and took lodgings at the Adelaide Hotel. The supper seemed to me less luxurious than those I had seen in American hotels; but my situation was indescribably more pleasant. For the first time in my life I was in a place where I was treated according to my deportment, without reference to my complexion. I felt as if a great millstone had been lifted from my breast. Ensconced in a pleasant room, with my dear little charge, I laid my head on my pillow, for the first time, with the delightful consciousness of pure, unadulterated freedom." In America it's never not "living while black."

    I'm not black but my first experience being pulled over by police was when I was 12 and my dad and I were driving back from church. My dad is a dark skinned Latino and he drove a shiny Mercedes. Suddenly we're getting pulled over out of nowhere and we don't know why. The cop walks up and immediately starts asking where we got this car and whose car it is. When my dad said it was his car the officer goes "Let's see the registration then" as if my dad has to prove that he didn't steal his own car. Then when the cop was letting us go he literally admitted that he pulled us over because he had transferred from Oakland and over there it's not normal to see "a person like you driving a car like this". And my dad, bless his uneducated soul, actually took it as a compliment 🤦🙄 and poor 12 year old me is just sitting there like, "dad we just got racially profiled. That isn't a good thing". I learned that day that cops are not our friends and they're just looking for reasons to hurt us

    This gentleman just described my experience with Baltimore City Police 🚔. We all hear this situation happening often to Black People, but until it happens to you, you will never know exactly how dehumanizing it is. Officer said he smelled drugs 💉 in my car after first pulling me over for running away from the cops 👮‍♂️. Running away from the cops was the first lie the officer gave as a justification for pulling me over. He quickly realized that his argument couldnt hold water, and then he changed the story to making an illegal U-turn from a parking position. What really hurt my soul was having to sit on the floor with my 3 friends while the dog 🐕 sniff for drugs that were no where to be found. And, also worst was the prison/jail van that was called on the scene to transport us.

      When they approached him, he said something to them, in educated well spoken English.

She stopped us for having a dirty tag, after leaving a cemetery with red dirt roads when it had been storming for days. We had just buried our baby and she literally grilled us about our out of state plate & out of state licenses. She asked where we were headed even though we had funeral flags on the cars, dressed in funeral attire, flowers all on the backseat. I told her we needed to get to the repast and she yelled so it was bad but at the police station I laid into her so bad she cried, and no I didn't give a damn.

      Please believe me that when I see a scene like that, I'm not thinking "a-ha, a criminal then!"
      Sadly, after a few US news and reporting, I'm thinking "oh f---- , another racist cop who probably doesn't even know that he's racist".
      I'm sorry (and angry) that this happens to you, and to a million others. It's vile and unworthy, and I suspect that a good deal of the howling and whining in the GOP crowd comes from the fact that they _know_ that it's vile and unworthy, but they also want' their precious "my country is the bestest ever" patriotism, with out the work of changing anything.

      There are many primary colors. From those primary colors come secondary colors. Races are exactly the same.
      So, as a result. Native American Indians were not black period. They were introduced and accepted into the tribes. History documents this AND the current offspring of these tribes detail this right here on RUclips. Look it up and hear from the native Americans yourself.

However, it is the basis for having your lawyer or law firm file legal charges against the cop and his department. Many big city white cops don’t even live in the jurisdictions they police so they don’t care about being sued. The way to change this is to make cops PERSONALLY liable in these cases. Funny
    He should be asking her why her white counterparts are always on a power trip

    A good man. Too bad so many people can’t let go of their prejudices, especially law enforcement, which should be screened and trained better to prevent these kinds of incidents.
    Good job on the interviewers part.

    I had the same thing happened to me last week in lakecharles,la driving down the road in a tractor trailer listening at the Google maps app which tells you 3/4 a mile before you get to a police speed trap and this state trooper pulled me over and gave me a ticket when I knew he was up there i told him to his face that he was a racist because I wasn't speeding most whites are racists and if they aren't they're a freaking miracle because society puts up with it and nobody is going to stand for righteousness and I've called in more than a few times on policemen not giving turn signals how do you enforce the law without obeying it

      Yeah, I had a white friend and we attended Church together. I thought she was cool, I mean she had other problems, but when we started really talking and getting to know one another we just weren't a good fit. I don't do Politics, I'm not Democrat, I'm not Republican, I no longer believe, vote, and play that game anymore, but I have shared opinions that we agreed on and some we didn't. Long story short, I realized she was racist. Had irrational fears about Black men and wouldn't admit or acknowledge it. I can't work with someone who won't do that, you gotta give me something lol So I ended the friendship. Neither of us go to that Church and we are no longer friends...

      @@lnewolfsetapart5226 I gotta believe that that's not true. At the end of the day I wanna believe that people are people and that we have more in common than we do differences. She was one person, Then again I haven't meant anyone else white yet who truly "gets it" but that doesn't mean they're not out there right? We gotta keep trying don't we *hardhead rowdy?*
