    No matter what top coat I use, even Seche Vite, it still takes a while for Polish to harden. I saw a review that said the Ella + Mila jet dry is the best on the market. Beyond Polish has it and I want to try it. Funny how the guys in my family never understand, “I can’t, my nails are wet”..lol

    Nice comparison! I thought it was interesting that you mentioned a polish isn't 100% dry for several hours. Quick-dry or not, I never trust that my nails are dry! For that reason I polish them before bed (wait long enough to avoid sheet marks) and by morning I'm good to go.

      Good rule! I have messed up nails in the past by doing them too late in the day when I didn't look at the time, and then had to sleep before I was certain they were dry enough to not get imprints.

      Yes, only Dazzle Dry polish is fully dry in 5 min. I don’t know how they do it but seriously, my clients put their shoes on after pedicure and their nails are fine. I polish their nails first and then do a 10 min foot massage and polish it dry. Amazing!

      I normally have to wait a day just to put a Top Coat on, but I now have a few quick dry top coats that really work for me.

    I'd consider this top coat "rapid dry" for OPI standards. Based off how their original OPI top coat performs (the one that takes your entire life to dry but if you're able to sacrifice the time, the finish is so beautiful!) That formaldehyde joke was funny cos same :D

    My favourite 2 quick dry top coats are indie brands. Dry to the touch in 2-3 minutes, within about 10 they hold up against fingerprints with light to moderate touch. They do both contain toluene. $7.25 & $7.99, and support small businesses! There are many more indie qdtc that are pretty good, but I prefer the 2.

    I always use a quick dry topcoat, but I never trust that my nails are "safe" for a few hours. One question though, with Seche Vite, they say to apply when polish is still wet. This makes it necessary for me to have 2 bottles, as the red polish seems to transfer quite easily. Why would it be necessary to apply it when the polish is still wet? Does it have to do with the product shrinking? I have not tried applying it when my polish is dry, in fear that I'll ruin my manicure. ♥ your channel!

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 года назад +4

      Hi Susan! Yes, Seche Vite has to be applied over a wet nail polish. I think so it bonds to the polish. I think when I applied it over dry polish it peeled off after couple of days.

    Have you ever tried the “glisten & glow” fast drying topcoat? If you haven’t, YOU MUST. It’s the absolute best top coat and after I apply it, a maximum of 5 minutes TOPS and my nail polish is dryyyyyy. If you can, you should try it, it’s ABSOLUTELY amazing 🥰
    P.S: thank you for all your videos, I love them!

    Hello, love your channel, such helpful info!! I have a question -- do you know of any pink pearl nail colors that are OPAQUE and not sheer with two coats? I am always looking for products that require only one or two coats because I have rheumatoid arthritis and the less work the better for me. I can't seem to find any pastel pink pearls that don't take three or four coats -- or will simply never NOT be sheer. I hate sheer polishes on me. Thank you for any ideas, and for your great channel!

    Ms. Salon Life, could I ask you what you think of seche vite? I find it phenomenal, but barely see it used in salons. Would love to hear your opinion on it.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 года назад +3

      Hi Susan :). I used to use it in a salon years ago when I started (early 90’s). To be honest I can’t stand how thick it is and how it shrinks.
      After it’s fully dry it pulls away from the cuticle and it looks like your polish is grown out. I bought it recently to see if I still don’t like it and yep, still don’t like it.

    Would it be possible to get a video with tips & tricks on how to apply light and white polishes without brush marks? ❣️❣️

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 года назад +2

      Some polishes are streaky no matter how skilled you are. That’s why in most of my videos I talk about the formula of the polish and how it applies. With good formula it’s a matter of amount of polish you have on the brush and what kind of pressure you are using to apply the polish. You just have to practice :)

    What's the very best top coat for protecting from chips & wear? Doesmt have to be quick dry

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 года назад +1

      It’s not just the top coat that protects from chips and wear. Top coat is only an icing on a cake. All layers matter. Good surface matters (healthy nail), good bond matters (base coat), properly applied and dried quality coating matters. And the top coat.
      Nothing will work well if the foundation (the nail) is weak though.

  • @jet687

    I like my manicures smooth and glassy. Quick dry top coat like this one tend to be too thin for my liking... Is there a quick dry one that is also thick and minimizes texture?

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 года назад +2

      The thick ones usually dry longer or they shrink. Adding layers usually hides the texture.
