All of Essie’s top coats are the best I’ve ever used. I’m a former manicurist and have natural nails. I’ve tried them all (not really, but all the top brands 😉). Every time, every type (reg., gel, fast-drying, etc.), Essie came out on top!

Nothing tops seche vite for shine and quick drying (but sometimes the shringage is intense)! If I have more time and want a longer wearing top coat my go-to is the Essie Gel Setter. That stuff also really helps level and smooth any imperfections in my polish.

Thanks for the great video! I don't think I could ever bring myself to wear the same color for weeks and weeks on end, so I appreciate you taking one for the team and putting this comparison together. It's a really useful thing to have out there.

Recommendation time! While I also love Seche Vite, because it is tried and true, it has caused shrinkage for me before with certain brands of nail polish. But if you're at all into indie brands Glisten and Glow has a great quick dry top coat. Also Vibrant Scents Fast and Hard is outstanding, and you can get their topcoats in many, many different wonderful scents. ILNP also has a great quick dry called Glass Candy which performs beautifully. Just a few to try out for ya!

you need to try essie top coat gel couture, that's the best for long lasting and shine, and I find that it does help with faster drying time, even though it's not specified

The only thing I don't like about Seche Vite is that it "shrinks" once it's dry, and it carries the polish beneath it, so if you don't go extremely precise on your top coat, it'll leave a noticeable mark. Btw "seche vite" means "dry fast" lol.

The Essie No Chips and Seche Vite Dry fast topcoats dried really quickly, impressed! CND STICKEY basecoat and CND SHINE topcoat are £17/$20 each 68ml, they can't wait! Seche Vite Quick Dry topcoat did shrink away from my nails!
All a big con but Essie basecoat Here to Stay 13.5 is a good adhesive basecoat, thinner than a lot of polish and economical! And my old gels can go on my toes, don't chip on my toes! Essie for me! UK 🇬🇧 8.4.24

Thanks for the great review! My personal favorites are sally hansen and seche vite.I hate both of their brushes and flood my cuticles even when I'm careful. I decide which one depending on my nail art; if I need Maniology smudge free tc, I use sally hansen bc seche vite (and even Maniology qdtc) flake away from the smudge free tc.
I bought Zoya tc on sale and like that one too and love the brush.
As you grow in viewers or just in your own curiosity, I've heard great things about indie top coats like glisten and glow or vibrant vinyls etc. Give the Zoya a try if it goes on sale again!

It is so good to know that Seche Vite is still the winner. I love this top coat so much, that when I discovered it, I ended up buying all the women I am close to a bottle and they all loved it too. I have been using this product for about 13 years, I believe. I still have some from my first purchase all those years ago and it still works great.

Essie was good No Chips topcoat, dried fast and a brilliant nail strengthener, no chipped nails for 7 days , but it shrank too much abd the Essie Here Stay basecoat chipped!
Like Seche Vite Quick Dry topcoat, dries fast but shrinks, cracks and chips too much!
I'm after Glisten and Glow topcoat, reviews sound good, I'm awaiting Zoya Armor Topcoat in 2 weeks and looking at Dazzle Dry, ILNP and Vibrant Vinyls topcoat! UK 🇬🇧

Hi Kay, I'm Rose, a new subscriber to your channel and also a brand new youtuber with nails as part of what I show. I don't test out products and as of now I don't plan to. I am happy I can send people over to you for this because you do a great and scientific job!!
For top coat, have you ever tried ProNai QDTC? It's AMAZING!!! As a hairdresser for 35+ years its what i always saw the manicurists using, so when i saw it on Amazon i JUMPED!! Now i buy it 16 oz at a time for about $28 (i think, that lasts me like forever to use).
You probably talked me into trying that $25 stuff from OPI in the hopes it can replace my pld swaer-by of Nailtiques as it seems maybe they stopped making it.😭
I saw your video seems to be okay to do a remix, though currently idk what all that really means or entails. My understanding is that it can be beneficial to both channels. I need some clips and images of chipped nails and would always like to be beneficial to a sister youtuber I'd recommend. Let me know your thoughts.
P.S. I'd love to see a comparison of base coat/top coat sets. Like both by the same company meant to be used together.🧚‍♀️💜💜💜

I've never tried ProNail QDTC. I'll need to look into it, thanks! If you choose to use the OPI, I hope it works well for you!
As long as the videos/pictures you use in your videos falls under Fair Use, I think is perfectly fine :)
Thanks for the suggestion on a video on base/top coat sets. I've always wondered if that could make a difference.

My nails didn't chip until the 4th day using Sally Hansen Miracle Gel topcoat with Sinful Colors' San Francisco metallic polish I think that's the finish and then my base coat is just my local Caronia brand for base coat & nail hardener in 1.
I know I could have extended it's wear should I've continued using gloves washing dishes, bathing my pets etc. I only had chipping in my middle finger and pointer finger just on the tips of my right hand and no chipping on my left hand....4days is enough I think coz I get bored with the color, then I can give my nails a break and after three days of no polish then put new color again. Many factors for a good mani as we all know but I really think a good top coat is a must. Plus if you pair with a quality polish like Dior plus skills then voila! But I can't afford a Dior, I only have one Essie. A Dior already would cost my grocery for a week nyahaha. I'm fuckin kidding, we all know it isn't usually Alabt the cost on what works. But I wish Sinful Colors is cheaper here but at times it cost like ur OPI, Essie, Orly and the like there in dollars which is crazy, Sinful Colors should be cheaper here in Ph bec a lot cheaper there right? Wtf am I pondering on?
I love the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel topcoat, works on non gel regular polish, even on my local nail polish worth P40 Philippine peso, about some cents there haha. You work so hard for this video, kuddos to you! New subbie here, ur fan from a faraway island hihi. Xoxo! 💋💅❤️

However, I have short nails and I reapply the top coat every other day or even every day, because I wash my hands very frequently during the day which ruins manicures.
