  • Our guest this week needs no introduction! Jessica Alba-mom of three, producer, actor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist-joins us on The Mother Daze. We dive deep into the early days of Jess’s booming Hollywood career (when Teresa had posters of her alongside Freddie Prinze Jr. and Ryan Phillippe on her bedroom wall!). We discuss her big life pivot when she became a mom at 27, how her relationship with religion changed, and how her spiritual philosophy has grown over the years. We also explore her journey into clean beauty and baby products with the launch of her billion-dollar company, Honest, and how she maintains her long standing relationship with her husband, Cash. We talk about parenting teens, the hardships that have shaped her life, her complex relationship with fame, and her success starring in and producing the global number one smash hit for Netflix, Trigger Warning (which also stars Teresa’s husband, Mark Webber!). Guys, this revealing, poignant and heartfelt episode literally blew us away and we know you will feel the same!!

Ladies. There's no reason why every child cannot grow into a positive and loving teenager. There are plenty of families raising sons and daughters who respect and love their parents, who are excited about education opportunities, and who go on to be achieving and productive adults. There's a thing called "Girls Studies" which started in the late 90s. I've read many many books in that genre; two standards are "Queen Bees & Wannabes" by Wiseman; and "Reviving Ophelia" by Pipher. The latter is a compendium of case studies of teenage girls by a psychologist in Nebraska, and the remarkable thing isn't the depressing failure stories of these young girls, but the success stories -- the girls who are *not* Ophelia. So please don't let JA scare you. Teresa, Mark; Sarah, Eric: you are fabulous teachers, your kids can be and will be fabulous kids. Teen-dom is sensationalized, though less so today because Mean Girls, based on the Wiseman book, served as a wake-up call for the #metoo generation and the kids themselves won't stand for it. Older adults can support that.
