This is one of those stories that sounds so unbelievable and is so out of character for a professional company. I'm shocked that I do not remember hearing this one. Love your videos and your shorts. Best channel on RUclips.
Well Thats because it didnt happen, Firstly that was really what Soviets Suggested to Pepsi but Pepsi didnt Accept, Instead got straight Metal Instead And Even if they did Accept it would be nowhere Near the 6th Largest Navy
well, it didn't happen, it was just an agreement that didn't mater because the ussr collapsed. it also wasn't the 6th largest navy, not even close, you can search on RUclips
I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume that the deal was for Pepsi to sell the ships and subs for scrap. Maintaining them, even if they were new, would be more cost then they were worth to Pepsi. Great story though!
You know this never actually happened right? It wouldn't have been the 6th largest fleet either. History matters and food theory both did a more in depth video on it
Another good one is The Bt-5 and 7 are not actually Russian tanks, the first prototype was made in America… But when the us scrapped it, the inventor of said tank took the turret off and put it in a shipping container and the body in another and labeled it as farming equipment, to get it past customs at the time,,, ,,It was really interesting when I found out about it,,,,
If I had been CEO of Pepsi for that deal, I don't think I could have resisted holding back one of those ships to make over into a TRUE James Bond supervillian mobile HQ from which to take over the world. (or at least a small African nation or Carribean island!)
It would make sense to explain the reason for the USSR’s desire for a non-alcoholic beverage… The USSR had a serious problem in its population with alcoholism, and they saw a soft drink as an alternative to help stem rampant alcoholism… The USSR had also approached other soft drink manufacturers with the physical capacity to supply an entire nation of over 250 million at the time (ie Coca Cola), but apparently PepsiCo was more amenable. So, it was nothing more than a desperate Soviet govt looking to remedy any way they could rampant alcoholism.
This tale is hilarious, but the Soviets got a raw deal. American soda products take more American lives than perhaps any other fast food product, and did no favors for the Russians.
Never trust a company that has a navy, but won’t give a kid a harrier jet
YES!! 🤣🤣🤣
They were holding on to the harrier in the event they got one of the russian carriers.
Strangely enough in 1990 three ships carrying coke sunk.

It was the 80s
Lol for a second it made me think of where Pepsi got the idea for the challenge with the harrier.
I remember that commercial. 😂😂

Could you imagine Pepsico acting like the East India company?
I’m thinking an alternate history scenario where Pepsi becomes similar to the banana republics
In an alternate reality Pepsi declared war on the US.... Come at me brah
Pepsi: hey coke come here a second.
Coke: yeah whats up los.......
When your broke and you rent is up.
One kidney coming up.

It was rusty ships that went to Norway for scrap. It was a favor for future business prospects.
Everyone knows Pepsi tastes better than Coca-Cola.
You know this never actually happened right? It wouldn't have been the 6th largest fleet either. History matters and food theory both did a more in depth video on it
so Pepsi got finessed.
Idk trading some syrup and water for anything like a ship, even if it wasn't fully operational or not at all operational sounds like a deal to me
No...?
The deal was that Pepsi would recoul their payment by selling those ships to scrapyards instead of the soviets selling the ships themselves.
If you think about it, that made a great story , adding value to the brand.
thousands of tons of scrap metal for one shipment of what is 99% water
bro wtf is Pepsi doing with Submarines
Such a wild story. Did the CEO turn the frigate into his heavily armed super yacht?
Beware the Pepsi navy
Let's see Coke top that!
The Pepsi-Cola Generation!
That’s incredible!
Pepsi can destroy their Challenger Coco cola in seconds 😂
Mt.Dew maybe but Pepsi, I don't think so.
In ace combat the weapons corporations become super national entities. IRL Pepsi and Coke go to war in the soda war.

The inventor was American but the US military wasn’t interested in his design!! They did ship it as farm equipment iirc tho
Matpat disproved Pepsi being the 6th largest
Well, I Binge watched ALL of your videos & Im sure my Father will tomorrow.... Keep them coming!!!
Right and then the ghost of kiev received a shipment of Pepsicola LOL

Thailand tried to buy US fighters with frozen chickens.
Lol. What’s pure white and addictive? Sugar. Cause the Pepsi the Soviets got didn’t have cocaine nor did it have pepsin.
That is the craziest story
Show the people of the Soviet Union like Jackson juice
And people sometimes wonder why fhe UssR went bankrupt
I love creative deal making. Can you imagine the country mgr pitching this deal to sr mgmt ? HILARIOUS !
The question is . How many tankers can u fit in your hand ? Possible deal breaker😅
I guess today they're trying to buy it back 😅
They probably could of used literately all of that right about know
Now parts of America would prefer Russia and Putin, it's insane, utterly nuts.
Nobody told the USSR that money can be traded for goods and services?
The Pride of the USSR Navy -- all camouflaged in rust!
This tale is hilarious, but the Soviets got a raw deal. American soda products take more American lives than perhaps any other fast food product, and did no favors for the Russians.
No Coke Pepsi !
Old WW2 Navy equipment is not A modern navy
Russia hasn't changed much...
Ukraine has to rack up Russian kill numbers to rival Pepsi?!! Damn.
This is a cute story.
They did not.
Insanity
You can't make this up.
someone did because it isn't true
The largest scrap navy.
this is actually a myth
For real?
It never happened 🤦
This is just not even true my guy
I always knew Pepsi were traitors
ROFLMAO
😂😂😂 That was my reaction to the end of the story. Clever soviets lol.
