I have an old 350Z that is ragged out but I’m sure not ready to part with it, and either way I can’t afford it. The blade on the spindle that I replaced last year fell off today then got wobbly pretty fast after I put it back on pretty tight by hand wrench standards. A year ago I put it on right with a hand wrench and a long pipe. It seems like if it wasn’t tight enough a year ago it would have fell of a lot sooner but I can’t find anything else wrong. The spindle isn’t wobbly or hot. The blade, bolt and washers are bad hot but that’s only because of friction from the loosening and turning I think.
EDIT: and it looks like we got the same aftermarket spindle…??? So have you had any problems with yours?

The reviews on the spindle were not great as best I remember. Also the spindle mounting holes where the bolts go through are not threaded. But I just put longer bolts through with nuts on them. The first spindle that I replaced last year in the middle seem to go bad pretty quick and I had already bought two more and stored them away. I'm waiting to see how long this one's going to last. I haven't found another source for spindles that will match that. I was thinking I might have to adapt a different spindle to it at some point in time as best I remember I think when I put the blade on there I had to put a extra washer on to tighten down the nut cuz something about the spacing wasn't right. So far I like the machine but it just seems like you have to keep up with maintenance on an older unit.

Ones threaded & the other isn't is BECAUSE at the factory we used self tappers

SHADE TREES cause themselves so much extra useless work when they DON'T bother to have a Operators & Parts manual

Bet you didn't know that when you run those blades to that wore out condition the UNBALANCED blades will beat those spindles to death, replacement blades and or sharpening them and RE-BALANCING is cheaper than buying new spindles

I'm sure you have a point! But I would venture to say it's the rough terrain, the rocks, the sticks and limbs that I run over. The utter abuse that I put that machine through on my property. There's nothing about my property that is a golf course like lawn.
