      we have bigger and stronger Gantry Guillotine Scrap Metal Shear with 2500ton cutting pressure. frankly in China, 1000ton is small one. each year we sold more than 100 units 1000ton scrap metal shear to China local market.

    1000 ton shear is a hell of shear . 1000 ton press as it's comparison is huge , I've been around presses and dang they are dangerous but in a case like this shear seeing as it's captive it's in a Safe environment and everyone is protected . Awesome setup , well constructed and will pay for itself in a timely manner . Lot faster than using a torch and safer . Big iron like that is dangerous to workers , don't know for sure which way the cut pieces are going to go when the unknown pressure is relieved . Great video .

      @markschofield9494  Год назад +1

      There'll be plenty it can't do but we won't pe putting it in it to see, this is one very expensive machine and the aim is to use it - not abuse it Paula

      @@markschofield9494 I agree with you, Mark. I would imagine that machine is extremely expensive. there would be no reason to put at risk from "playing" around. Love watching the videos you share. The way it cut through the thick metal, as if it was nothing. Amazing. Thanks for sharing with us all!

  • @charleswake44

    Looks like the big yellow thing you were cutting was a bit cobbled together using some sections of old 'Bridge' type rail attached to the main beam. If that's the case, you don't see much of that around nowadays.

    • @markschofield9494
      @markschofield9494  Год назад +2

      No, not something cobbled together, overhead cranes out of a factory, modern box section ones and older riveted H section type cranes, old and new cranes are often sharing the same overhead crane track - which is the sections with the rail on it

      No, so long as there are no seriously hard things in there, hardened gears or shafts, then the blades are good, still the original edge

    Mark, do you have an idea what the cost savings are for the shear vs torching? It's a big investment up front, but I think it should pay for itself fairly quick in my opinion.

    • @markschofield9494
      @markschofield9494  Год назад +5

      We haven't run it long enough to know but the payback time will be a long time and I always knew that, we don't do the throughput for a quick payback - and I'm ok with that, I like things the way they are, I don't want the hassle, I like operating things and working on the ground, I don't need the busiest yard out there.

    would it cut those cable drums with the wire rope on it?

    • @markschofield9494
      @markschofield9494  Год назад +3

      I don't know, I'm not stupid enough to try, wire ropes won't do the blades any favours and blade management is the sensible way of doing things, the drums are often cast and would just break. We folded one crane traveller with the shear and then took it out in bale form, a bit oversize but acceptable, the others I hammered with the four tonne ball and made them manageable. I'm not going to put things through the shear that will damage it just for RUclips views - as a lot do.

    Hi There ,, How long does the cutting blade last sheering and cutting all that heavy steel ?
    Cheers from John in Australia

    • @markschofield9494
      @markschofield9494  Год назад +2

      Hi John, there are four edges to each blade but Copex recommend only using two, I’m not sure if anyone will only use two as they’re incredibly expensive. We are using the original edge installed at Easter but the machine isn’t used intensively and I am careful about what I shear, avoiding hardened items that will damage the blade. I also now bale a lot of material so avoiding using the blades a lot of the time.

      @@markschofield9494 thanks for that .. i been in the scrap game here in Australia for just on 30 years (now retired due to bad health) and im amazed on the amount of new technology that goes into the sheering of such thick steel usually destined for oxy cutting.
      Scrap price here in oz is goin pretty good as what your sheering there (hm insize) is selling for at least $430 pt.
      Cheers from john in Australia.
