Beautiful car. But, the 745i was never officially sold in the US through the bmw network. They were all brought in "gray market" and "federalized" to make legal in the US. So they usually swapped the lights, bumpers, speedometer, added a catalyst (often removed the rear fog lights) etc. So much of your electrical problems were probably from wiring done to bring it to the US, and then done again, to bring it back to europe. Also notice the silver decal i think i saw in the drivers door jamb 'california air resource board' means the car was imported and made legal for california. Great find.
If you dont have noticed,this is turbocharged car :D ,Eu 745i have allways have a turbo,only south african version got M88 M1/M5 engine. This car is is eu model,north american market never got a turbocharged version of E23,someone has converted it to Us and now you are converting it back 😀

Yes 5w30 is the oil that you can use. Full synthetic and you are good 👍

Sae 5w30 it's perfect. Twin power turbo is good as well. Just be sure is for diesel not gas engines
