Much of the fruits and vegetables we see in our grocery stores in the winter is grown in this area of Chile. Farmland there is extremely expensive, making it hard to get enough money to buy land to make a reserve. The farmers are getting wealthy and they don't care about the bird.
Awww, bitter sweet. Great pictures of this lovely little bird but so sad to think they may not be around much longer b/c of us. I hope all little h'birds survive and thrive as well as all the other endangered animals on our planet.
Thank you for another beautiful & informative video. This is a beautiful hummingbird & I love his "split" tail feathers. Praying that this precious hummingbird receives recognition, care & protection asap.
I really admire the tremendous effort you and others make to find and film these beautiful, rare and endagered Hummingbirds species around the world. It is very moving and I hope there will be a way to preserves these beauties.
Beautiful! I know that is what I say almost every time, but it is true! Also Carole, I don’t think the female is plain! The back of her just about glowed in that sunlight! ❣️😊
Farming. This is a prime growing area. Much of our winter fruits and vegetables come from Chile and this is where it is grown. Those winter tomatoes you see in your grocery store? Usually says they are from Chile. The farmers are getting wealthy and they don't care about the bird.
Such a beautiful hummingbird. Heartbreaking to learn there are so few left. I pray the scientists find a way to help it. The photograph of the male and female are perfect. Love the one with the small insect flying by. The video and drone footage is amazing, as always.
Hopefully those wonderful scientists can come up with ways to savev those little beauties. You mentioned pesticides...are there insects that bother the hummingbirds? Thank you Carole for bringing this to the fore!❤
How precious. Such fragile birds. It hurts my heart that humans once again are responsible for the near extinction of such a beautiful creature. Thank you for bringing awareness.
Amazing footage of the bird but I really hope the birds population increases. It would be sad to lose another bird species when we have already lost so many.

Carole, thank you for raising awareness for these little miracles! I'm keenly interested in the information coming in the next episode!
This species has lost 80% of its population over the past twenty years. And it was considered endangered back then.
@@HummingbirdSpot is the primary reason habitat loss through human activity? As it is in so many other cases......

I find that their eyes are so expressive and clear. ✨️🤍
Another nest!
Are you telling us that prior to this there were 301? 😂
The outlook for this species doesn’t seem very good. At least you have some good documentation.
