This video seems to be getting a lot of views lately for whatever reason - footer was on the bottom by accident, was set up in OBS that way and couldn't remove it after the fact. Also, the video is several years old so nothing I can really do about it. Hope you enjoy it anyways!
How can you stop the pumping effect, please? I'm trying to use it on a house beat as a really deep underlying bass to a chord progression, it's all over the shop and sounds shit, on it's own it's incredible haha
Yo dude! Didn't really think about it until after the fact - don't use Ableton all that often so I didn't think anything of it at the time. But if I ever do anything with Ableton in the future it'll be at the top!
Awesome tutorial, short and consise whilst covering the essentials with some tips and tricks included but not overdoing it! big cheers mate, definitely gonna apply this in my production
I started out as a DJ / EDM Producer roughly a year ago. I've spend countless days learning and have retained a lot. Already producting my own tracks and currently working on an album. Out of all of the videos I've watched and learned from, this has been by far the best. You tutorial was simple to follow and now I can put in my tool kit to get even more creative. I've subscribed soley for that reason. Can't wait to retain more of your knowledge. Thank you!🎼
Hey man I just wanna say this is a great video. Most people's tutorials are not very good at explaining things but this was perfectly explained! This helped me immensely! Thank you!
Yo Mr Venus, really great tutorial! I'm studying music production and I am making a dnb track as my final project, so this tutorial helped me a LOT! My only suggestion is removing or moving the blue bar with your social media links, cuz it's on top of everything you're doing. Maybe show it only once in a while. Anyways, THANKS MATE! Greetings from Brazil.
@@VenusTheory I cant decide on wheither Ableton is for me to be honest. If FL Studio has the same hardware integration with Native Instruments S61 MKII Id probably upgrade to v11, but I still tend to lean towards FL Studio 29 as I feel it offers nore.
If you're using a DAW besides Ableton and want to get close to Erosion's effect, download Melda's MFreqShifter, turn the main shape to noise and shift the frequency down until you can't hear any harmonics (about -950Hz). Run that and a band pass in parallel and you'll have something close.
Dude this is amazing SUBSCRIBED!! This is straight to the point and very easy to follow!! Thank you thank you thank you haha operator confused the living hekk out of me but you made me understand it much better in this video alone!

Followed step by step and all of my parameters match yours leading to the 2:00 mark and my result sounds nothing like yours. What could I be doing wrong?
Your speaking voice is so similar to the guy with the gas can in Waking Life. That's a positive from my perspective. I always liked his speaking voice.

@@jodiescott01 make sure spread is zero or put detune lower to slow the movement effect. Or don't detune at all. Possibilities are endless. Hope you figured something out in the month since you commented. Lol.
Yo! Great question. This is caused by the detuning of the voices/oscillators. So, you would just not want to detune them and that will stabilize the sound. The wobble is caused by the detuning as the waves cycle in and out of phase.
yoo dawg! Was wondering, do you recon maybe mono everything bellow 200Hz(ish) to avoid messing with your sub on a club scenario would be a good idea or would you feel confortable leaving it has is?
Yo! Well it kinda depends, there are two kinda routes I go with this: if I know I'll end up highpassing the reese, I'll make a mono sub to go under it. However, sometimes I make a big detuned sub that goes under it that's not in mono. Generally speaking, I don't care too much about mono compatibility as I make music for headphones and not the club. That said, I do generally check it in mono to make sure the low end isn't totally lost - if it is, I may sum it to mono on the lower end, or create a mono sub patch to layer underneath, and highpass the reese. So, really just depends on what it calls for. Sometimes I don't even mono it if it's not lost when I check the mix in mono!
Haha thanks, I figured it was about time I get some of these blue light things. I get really bad headaches a lot and they went away as soon as I got these.
Highly recommend them, I didn't think much of the whole 'blue light' thing until I got these, and they made a massive difference for me. Nectar is the brand, pretty cheap AND it helps support the bees!
Haha for sure, Ableton is a great DAW for sound design stuff, don't like it all that much as an actual DAW but I have a lot of fun making sounds in it!
Venus Theory this bass is amazing man. Absolutely perfect for what I’m looking for! It reminds me of the bass from Annihilation! 😂 So fucking good. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Hey dude! I don't own FL, but if I ever have the cash to pick it up I might and then do some tutorials with it! This same bass patch would translate to 3xosc and/or Sytrus though!
I've been testing several ways to do a reese bass on serum I made several wavetables using several synths and I used many effects controlled by the envelope I made this pack to be used in several genres: wave / witch house / rnb / future garage / dnb were many I'll leave the presets link to analyse :drive.google.com/open?id=1OYJB86XEMN7XI5UGVq4NLLVvT6qA7He3
Haha thanks dude! As for that bass, that sounds a lot like a standard FM house bass. Usually created by just feeding one sine at a higher ratio into another at a lower ratio. Then, add a slight filter envelope. Otherwise, just create a saw sound with some unison and the same filter envelope and that'll get you going in the right direction.
@@VenusTheory many thanks my bro!!!! I didnt understand everything what you said but I'll try. I really apreciatte the time you take for answering me. I hope one day you could make a tutorial with that kind of basses.

Thanks for the tutorial man! It's still awesome.
The reason is that it is awesome. My crappy song turned to be crappy song with awsome reese bass :D
The Footer should be on top when you do ableton videos. it is a bit annoying to not completely see the devices....

To all people complaining, just listen to what Cameron says. You don't need to see it, if he is already saying what to do.
Thats why I stopped watching. Literally covering all the area he is working with. #dumb
if your operator sounds different, you might want to check the sustain of osc a and b and set it to -0db (for me b was set to -24db).

more ableton💕
I may do some more in the future! Not really a big fan of Ableton, but it's definitely fun for bass design!
