I worked on a Dairy off and on for a total of eight years when I was a young man. We used to breed our young Holstein heifers to Angus bulls because they would produce smaller calves thus being easier on the young ladies having their first calf. I love these videos because they bring back many memories. THANKS !
I am not gonna lie. Neptune, the big doofus, stole my heart. He has some attitude and he was not afraid to show that he wasn't feeling life TP Farm there, mate. Glad he settled in.
When I was young, I worked for a famous Dentist that bought highland cattle. He had 20, and I really liked them. They were much more gentle the the brahman cross i usually working with One day early morning he called me and said all his cows were gone, probably stolen. I went over to his place the next day and looked around. This was in east Texas and it was about 95 in the shade. As I passed the 4 acre pound on the property is saw 20 black noses sticking out of the water. They were just trying to cool off a bit. From that day on every summer he had me shear the hair off those darn highland cows. It was a real rodeo to shear those poor beast. But i had to agree they were cooler.
Taking a few liberties with that bull Tom. Can't take the moral high ground myself as when younger I tried to be 'billy big balls' and get a Charolais bull to move out in the field. Never knew I could run so fast. Those bent top rails in the collecting Yard would drive me insane I'd have the telehandler under them to straighten them up.
Your pen configuration and multitude of gates is genius. Makes sorting a breeze! How many times I wished for another alley gate I couldn’t begin to tell you.
We bought a New Jersey bull and he was quite Emmm let's say wary of people so when we were gonna move him into his own pen he got feisty and butted me. Luckily it wasn't hard and I got winded but he's got much better now and is doing well with the ladies ;) nice vid and that is a beefy Angus gotta love them tho
I grewup like this, ya even called my name in the same accent I know, made me jump! It's funny to see the cattle speeded up, all those tails wagging faster.
Did the Ginger Warrior give you a tanning for leaving the shed gate open?...At least there wasn't a stampede only a few thought..."Ooh what's darn ere" 😁
It's called culture just like the whites have their certain culture and the brits so stop complaining and keep the opinion to yourself on another races culture cruel would be not to eat the meat and just throw away the bull but after they use those bulls to feed families
I love Highlands, I keep telling my husband I want a Highland calf. But you know, Texas, sooo… and after 30 years of farm life we are thinking about moving into town.
Yup, Holstein bulls are assholes. Beef bulls are usually giant puppies though. My college had a Hereford bull that loved a good brushing with the bristle broom.
Love the video new to the channel just subscribed as well I grew up in the Lake District and family runs a farm lovely to see look forward to seeing more videos 👍🏻 all the best James
He nearly had you there. Looks like you will also have to keep an eye on him when in the pen with him. Hope he does well and you get then most out of him. 👍
Just a question see beef bulls but not holstein bulls. But lots of the dry dry cows look pure holstein. Using AI on milking cows and beef bulls on heifers?
A dry cow is a cow that is due to calve in the next 2 months or less and you have stopped milking her so she can have a break and get ready for the next lactation. Hope this helps :)
Tom Pemberton Farm Life so if you stop milking her, does she automatically go dry, so then when she calves she starts producing milk again for he calf? Is that right?
Hey Tom, just started as a livestock driver with no experience at all 🤯 I’m working for le Jones! Gave you got any advice for dealing with wild cattle ( young wild bullocks) I’ve be thrown in at the deep end without arm bands so any advice would be a massive Elp! Cheers
Wow, this is kinda surreal now Neptune is gone and his cousin Nigel is being delivered. Even the videos showing the sad day were similar. I hope Nigel lives up to Neptune
6:16 I love seeing cows gallop and jump. It doesn't seem like something they should be able to do. I guess bulls do, in bull riding, but cows just seem way to gentle for something like that. Also, yes I know the footage is sped up.
AgriFan He is only 16months. I tried to put him into the stalls to do his tail but with him being new, he had no idea what I wanted him to do and I think that's why
Tom Pemberton Farm Life possibly i wouldnt try any bull anyway. we got a 11 month old friesian bull hes dodgy enough don't think hed attack though still wouldnt like to be stuck in a pen with him
You're a good farmer. Hope that he settles down soon. I also love how you have big open fields for the cows to roam in.
Yep
Grass fed beef so much better. Wish it wasn't so expensive.

Rumple Stiltskin That's the reasons for our farm aswel, the Angus beef can go into the shop also. Thankyou very much 😀

Might want to cut and edit boring story there.
@@sarahsmyth5383 I actually found it informative and interesting. Go bore off
Dirty, messy, hard, way to make a living! Thank God for the Farmer, Cattlemen, and anyone one else who has the balls to do this kind of work!
ha i do this for a living xD
Heh thanks xD
A Cow life is worth much more than those dirty, messy, a cow life is too short before to be slaughtered, not even to say contribute milk, love cows
It is hard work I know that all too well
Only problem is we work all day for little pay and barely any appreciation
Its nice to see your new bull getting to work straight away. You do a good job looking after your stock. Good Video

It was so nice to see this pop on my my feed, seeing Neptune the legend arrive. He was a sweet bull, RIP.

Your Highland cattle are chest majestic. I haven’t really seen many like that live in Midwest USA, so they’re rather intriguing.
Great video I was scared for you some power in Neptune lovely clip of the Highlands at the end.keep the videos coming and Happy Farming
Your pen configuration and multitude of gates is genius. Makes sorting a breeze! How many times I wished for another alley gate I couldn’t begin to tell you.
Jeremy Langer we always say "make life easy or you won't do it"
Great video Tom, love seeing cows going out onto grass!
Hazell Agricultural Services Ltd Thanks Hazell, it's great to see
We bought a New Jersey bull and he was quite Emmm let's say wary of people so when we were gonna move him into his own pen he got feisty and butted me. Same I have a female who hates being around other cows so we keep her in a single pen.
What a lovely set up, I'd love to work that farm.
iv only ever worked with sheep, its hard to believe how much more calm and collected cows are lol well at least the heffers haha
I grewup like this, ya even called my name in the same accent I know, made me jump! It's funny to see the cattle speeded up, all those tails wagging faster.
totaltwit it's great to see them all happy running about 😀
Did the Ginger Warrior give you a tanning for leaving the shed gate open?...At least there wasn't a stampede only a few thought..."Ooh what's darn ere" 😁
Lol, neptune out in the field like "Well hello there ladies ;)"
The cows look happy, lots of green grass to snack on but don't they get tired of having wet cow feet?
great filming.. looks like cow tetris! 👍
You make that hard work look easy. Great job
I love seeing the cows running in the green grass! You could see how happy they were to be loose.
Holly Carlson I love it too 😀 great to see happy cows
2:40 is like opening the T-Rex’s cage, but with a cow. instead of T-Rex roars, there r moos
Super cool video! LOVE the drone footage. Thanks!
6:40 Hellooo Ladies !!!
they are beautiful and colorful.................. nicely done.
At the end, the cow is starring at the drone flying im front the same way a Human looks at a UFO and is completely perplexed! Fruit for thought!
At least these animals are treated right, I hate the Spanish bull runs and fights with swords. Good job you guys, what a heathy lot 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Joan Mc Grath it is really dumb those bullfights in Spain
@@samavila2104 well, sometimes the bull wins.
Brick Animations true

Do you know what I love about this is that you are taking good care of the bulls
Unlike other people that kill them
I love Highlands, I keep telling my husband I want a Highland calf. But you know, Texas, sooo… and after 30 years of farm life we are thinking about moving into town.

Stevie Robinson thank you good sir
Cheers
Does it feels like a Christmas pressent when you open up that trailer to welcome your new bull?
He spilt his guts everywhere lol
I used to work on a farm as a kid, was always terrified of bulls - Friesian / Holstein
U should be there the angriest bull out there
Yup, Holstein bulls are assholes. Beef bulls are usually giant puppies though. My college had a Hereford bull that loved a good brushing with the bristle broom.
honestly a stick made from some pipe can save a live multiple times
Love the video new to the channel just subscribed as well I grew up in the Lake District and family runs a farm lovely to see look forward to seeing more videos 👍🏻 all the best James
Nice looking lot
Another top piece of filming mate, thumbs up.
Antony Townsend Thanks Antony 😀
your welcome mate.
the hoof GP sent me ;) Awesome channel
That is such an impressive bull!
GLOVES! Your hands are coming into contact with cow poop.
7.07 you know when you are a famer boss level when a heffer eats your arm and you dont flinch one bit
Badone Badone That wasn’t eating, that was kissing lol
Great video. Ole Neptune just wanted to be friendly. No need to go running off lol
kory league hahaha Kory, I wasn't sticking around to find out
He nearly had you there. Looks like you will also have to keep an eye on him when in the pen with him. Hope he does well and you get then most out of him. 👍
Yer i suppose
Edward Martin imalondner
Gaz mgow bulls are 500-1000 pound
Gaz Mgow nobody has an extra 4k laying around
Bulls are a lot of money you can't just throw them away
Gotta love how much a cow actually shits in a day been there lol but the funnest work I've been a part of as well
Do you find the slip prof concrete any good
Ok so question can one bull mate with ALOT of cows at once or is it a long process?
I was wondering the same thing? Lol!
Hi Tom this is a random question where abouts are you and where do you despise of your fallen stock
7/22 I remember this event. Fun times. Neptune was hard to give up.
i love your holstein cow. greetings from argentina
Just a question see beef bulls but not holstein bulls. But lots of the dry dry cows look pure holstein. Using AI on milking cows and beef bulls on heifers?
Great beast well organised farm lv it top job
How big is this farm ?
I could handle the muck, hours, cattle etc no problem, but remembering which gate to keep open/closed or where they all lead I’d struggle lol
Can anyone tell me what a dry cow is? 🐄
A dry cow is a cow that is due to calve in the next 2 months or less and you have stopped milking her so she can have a break and get ready for the next lactation. Hope this helps :)
Tom Pemberton Farm Life cheers mate 👍
Tom Pemberton Farm Life so if you stop milking her, does she automatically go dry, so then when she calves she starts producing milk again for he calf? Is that right?
Josh Robinson yeah that's right, you have got it 😀 just cows need a rest between calves
Josh Robinson out of milk I think I live on a beef cattle farm
I was getting a bit dizzy with the drone footage of neptune meeting the girls, you’ve certainly improved greatly these days with the drone lol
is something wrong with his tail he handsome though also nothing better than watching cows jump and run when go in field love it
I’m very happy that I get to see both opposite genders of cows. The males (bulls) and the females (cows).🐂🐄🐮
What are all the different cattle breeds you have there? I can see friesian, possibly gurnsey? All very nice animals though, top condition 🤩
Hey Tom, just started as a livestock driver with no experience at all 🤯 I’m working for le Jones! Gave you got any advice for dealing with wild cattle ( young wild bullocks) I’ve be thrown in at the deep end without arm bands so any advice would be a massive Elp! Cheers

Happy herd with a Bull.

TheCookieWolf Hahah yes in the North of England which is even worse 🙈
Tom Pemberton Farm Life Ik how u feel we had ran non stop near us for 2 weeks straight I live in north wales so we have bad wales weather
Neptune has got a pretty good life lol.
That's a damn good looking bull. Has he calmed down?
Hi tom great vid won't take him long to settle down
Greg Bailey Yeah he should find his feet soon and get used to the place
I have a black Angus named Bob the only thing weird with this is that the Angus is a girl with a boy's name lol love watching keep up the good work
6:16 I love seeing cows gallop and jump. It doesn't seem like something they should be able to do. I guess bulls do, in bull riding, but cows just seem way to gentle for something like that. Also, yes I know the footage is sped up.
Oh I love your Highland cattle. Im Scottish of course lol. No way would you get me anywhere near a Bull. No way would I run fast enough 😲😲🍀🌹🍀
My cow Daisy is getting ready to give birth to a baby boy, but isn't it a little late for that?? She's due 27th of August.
What types of cows do you have and what type of bull is this
Emily Sanderson Aberdeen Angus bull
you're very confident around that bull. hell i wouldnt go into a pen with a bull thats 10 years old. never know what theyd do
AgriFan He is only 16months. I tried to put him into the stalls to do his tail but with him being new, he had no idea what I wanted him to do and I think that's why
Tom Pemberton Farm Life possibly i wouldnt try any bull anyway. we got a 11 month old friesian bull hes dodgy enough don't think hed attack though still wouldnt like to be stuck in a pen with him
Do you feed them
Hope Neptune does well for you ??
Great videos 👍👍👍🏴🏴🏴
Beautiful countryside and cattle!
Neptune is hard headed!
Your lucky to have escaped that would have hurt badly..
What breed is that bull? He doesn't look like a dairy breed, do you use him to sire your dairy herd or do you also cross breed for suckler beef?
Adam Dexter He is an angus bull, we have bought him to serve the maiden heifers yes 😀
I love how all the cows were watching
Is this film in Britain. If so please could you give me the county only as I recognise your accent but I could be mistaken
Annabel Robertson Lancashire 😀
Tom Pemberton Farm Life that’s why I recognise it 😂
Beautiful bull!
Is that white cow standing behind you at the end of the video going bald on the rump?
Half Angus half holstein calves?
I really like how real your videos are. What you see is what you get on the farm! (You might want to fix your instagram link btw lol)
Farmable Thanks mate, yeah I will at that now your right thanks for pointing it out
I think i have solved it :)
Great vid looks ok he will settle down and get used to you hopefully
Antony farming Thanks Antony, yeah I think he will. Just needs a bit of pampering and he will be coming me a right softie hopefully

Fendt Kirovets They are good, just need to wean them off soon
Bro can you tell me the song on 4.56
Good video you've got some good footage
PLEASE, PLEASE ...don’t ever ask someone to stand ‘behind the gate’. Its so dangerous as you can be crushed if an animal hits it.
I’m confused do cows that give us milk have calves and what is a heifer cow 🤨
Little Bull but a strong lad
