What a class attitude from Zetro. Didn't toot his own horn or talk bullshit, and he let Rob be the guest of the show and focused on his history with the band. And you can tell that Zetro takes the band's legacy seriously - he's familiar with his successor/predecessor's material and doesn't seem to have any ego issues. This was such an intriguing inside look for any long time Exodus fan.
Based on this interview it sounds like Rob doesn't really like working with Paul Bostaph. Who I would imagine would be the drummer in Kerry's next project.
Original Anthrax singer Neil Turbin interviewed Jon Bush a while ago, which can be found on here, admittedly both were out of Anthrax when the interview was conducted
Fucking love Dukes, saw him on the Shovel Headed tour at the Hi Fi Bar in Melbourne. He pointed at me as I sang along to S.H.K.M. word for word with him, afterwards he rips of the setlist off the P.A. speaker and storms up to me, pushes people aside and hands me the setlist. Still got the setlist. Fucking legend, his era of Exodus was the fucking heaviest 🤘
hey man great story i saw raven in 83 and i was front and center singing every song every word and at the end of the set when wacko came out around his drum kit he came up to the front and everyone started shoving me out of the way to shake his hand and he moved em all out of the way and looked right at me and grabbed my hand and shook it first
Dukes in exodus was something very special. I remember the first time I heard dukes with exodus we put the cd in and said some new guy is supposed to be singing lets check it out. We were in our band room with our jaws on the floor lol. I said holy fuck this shit is epic
Dukes era Exodus SLAYS. Shovel Headed Kill Machine is definitely in my top 5 favorite Exodus albums. Paul Bostaph is killer on that album and Rob's vocals are great. Gary and Lee are an awesome guitar team.
Rob Dukes is such a great and humble guy. Zetro also conducted the interview perfectly, it was a joy to watch. Btw, I love that Dukes mentioned ".44 Magnum Opus". That song is really killer.
If only the gain was just a liiittle lower, it would be perfect. Still my go-to version of the album, especially the solos are much improved! And Exhibit B... Good Riddance, Sun, Beyond the Pale, March, Downfall, Burn Hollywood. So many killer tracks, my favourite of theirs!
@@Metalton95 the intro riff to Funeral Hymn...SWEET CHRIST. My only complaint of any of the Dukes era Exodus stuff is maybe the songs are a tad too long.
I'm Totally Agre! The let there be blood version it's fucking Awesome and waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than original! the guitars "Tuning hole step down" and "Rob Dukes" On The vocals it's just perfect and BRUTAL! Exodus With Dukes was The best era.
@@shanep5819 same. Contrary to Rob, who loves the slow middle section in Sun Is My Destroyer, I find it really dragging.. could have been Exodus’ most brutal song.
Who is this soft-spoken, sensitive gentleman? Is he the same Rob Dukes I saw in a festival in 2013 fronting Exodus like an unhinged rabid maniac and commanding everyone to rage and fuck shit up?! One of the best concerts of my life..
As an Exodus fan this is just what we needed/wanted. After the switch from Zet to Rob then Rob to zet there was unanswered questions. It's so refreshing to see these two icons just have a casual convo no BS reminiscing about their own story & history w/Exodus. Podcast of the fuckin year!!
I saw Exodus with Dukes at the Whisky-A-Go-Go around 2008 - I will say this, Dukes gave 100% at that show...Hunting and Holt autographed my Bonded by Blood album cover after the show!
In the beginning I thought it would be another Zet interrupt fest. I hung in there though and glad I did. Zet you finally let the guest talk. Especially Dukes for the Exodus history. Thank you.
Since starting this video, my laptop has crashed 5 different times, so that says a lot about having these 2 on the same show! The song Good Day To Die stopped me from taking my own life. I had the gun loaded and a knife open as a back up. I decided to listen to one last song and hit the play button on my stereo. That song started at the beginning and from there the lyrics changed my mind as the song went by. I still get chills when I listen to it to this day, and it's been 28 years now.
I'm lucky enough to say I've seen Exodus with all 3 vocalists live. Baloff once in 1997. Zetro a few times on Tempo tour and Dukes 3-4 times on Shovel Headed, Exhibit A and B. All Exodus eras are awesome. Fabulous has been my favorite as my first Exodus album when it was released
Rob dukes was an odd change of pace after Zetro when I was going through their discography a few years ago, but he provided some of their best albums that really stood out as memorable; Going Going Gone, Dethamphetamine, Funeral Hymn, The Ballard of Charles and Lenord, Children of a Worthless God, Burn Hollywood Burn, and I Am Abomination are some of my favorite songs of that era. No problems or preferred singers, all brought their own talents and style which made their albums stand out and really memorable. Would love to see Rob show up on a future Exodus album for either a song or going back and forth with singing verses as Helloween did with their latest self-titled album.
All of the Exodus vocalist were Kick-Ass! They all have great attitudes and it's all about Metal! All three of their vocalist made killer albums in made of huge impact on the band's history!
Anyone who's been fired knows how it can mess with you. Zet - you are a real mensch for giving Rob a chance to heal through this conversation. I'm sure this makes it easier for the guy to feel whole again, and he deserves it - why not. This was leadership, Zetro style - Proud of you man. Also, you killed it in Blood in Blood Out!!!
Back in Peru, I used to have a band called Ethnocide where did Exodus covers. I always watched and listened to the live performances of both of you and Baloff to come up with my own style for singing the songs. Have the best memories of going and playing with my friends at the shittiest places in Lima and Callao back from 2011 to 2014. Fast forward to 2018, I got to see Exodus with Zetro in Budapest, playing with Sodom, Death Angel, and Suicidal Angels. I screamed all the songs to the top of my lungs, raised hell at the pit, and just cried with pure happiness to see one of my favorite bands in front of me. Thanks for all the memories. Looking forward to Exodus and Generation Kill's new album!
I was anticipating a lot from the hype and Zet, you and Rob delivered! GREAT EPISODE!!! The best of this season. It took TWO days to get through this monster and it was more than worth it! I appreciate the candor and straight- forwardness of Rob. His story was aces and knowing how much of a fan Rob is of EVH and Randy Rhoads, his story actually reminded me a lot of Kelle Rhoads (Randy's brother) and Kelle's musical journey. For those that don't know, Kelle started out on drums (VIOLET FOX along w/ Randy) of whom he later put down the sticks and traded them in for a mic, eventually starting his own band monikered after the family's surname (a band that featured Nick Menza (R.I.P.) years before his coveted time with MEGADETH). That said, it wasn't until RHOADS folded that Kelle decided to reinvest time with the piano, an instrument he had initially learned music on with the teachings of his mother at their music school in North Hollywood, that he discovered piano was his true calling. Kelle was interviewed once where he spoke about this decision / musical direction moving from drummer to singer to pianist and how it all came about and what he said was profound, he said; "I was on the right freeway, I just took the wrong offramp." Listening to Rob in this interview I noticed a lot of similarities to Kelle's story and the fact that the same could be said about Rob and his love for guitar, Metal and Punk, only to have the universe intervene with a curve ball - the offer to scream for EXODUS! Rob found his calling!⛧🤘 Funny how things work out when life gets in the way sometimes and makes right what should have been from the start. Best of luck to Rob with GENERATION KILL and I'll see you both front and center at the barricade for the GK / EXODUS tour!!⛧🤘
I fucking love Rob Dukes' Exodus. The first time I saw them in the Shovel Headed Kill Machine tour they were absolutely brutal, by far one of the best concerts I've been to.
Zetro - I agree that the Ballad of Leonard and Charles is a great song and, as a concert goer, a great opening song to get that pit moving. So glad to see there is no hostility between Rob and you. Great interview, and thanks for the signed picture!
Commenting before watching the whole video is probably not a good idea but I just had to give props To Zetro and Rob for having the balls to do this...I love seeing the 2 eras of the band come together in this way. Very few bands seem to do things like this with past and present members of the same band. If I may be allowed a little bit of wishful thinking...I would love to hear Exodus using both of your voices for at least one song. That would be absolutely killer! Thanks for doing this...You've made a long time fan very happy.
Great discussion. Here having a beer and i feel part of the conversation. Nice to see 2 FIERCE lead singers sit and respect each other. No ego here. Good vibes and stories.
It's SO COOL to see this! Two awesome Metal dudes just sharing The Metal. No ego, no bullshit, no drama to be sold; just love and respect for the music, the craft, the genre, the stage and the band that Kirk and Tom started. Exodus RULES and so does this two fine gentleman and their respective eras. |m|
Such a terrific discussion that could have gone on for another 2 hours as far as I am concerned. I am an old school Exodus fan (I bought "Bonded by Blood" on vinyl in 1985 at age 10) but still really dug the 3 proper Rob Dukes Exodus albums of Shovel, Exhibit A and Exhibit B which took the band in a much more brutal direction. I agree with Zetro that Exhibit B was Dukes" crowning achievement with the band. What is interesting is that I did like the more simplified old school feel of "Blood In Blood Out" quite a bit but his viewpoint from a creative angle was interesting. He is a very humble and down to Earth person and thanks to Zet for making this interview happen. Can't wait to hear the new Generation Kill & Exodus albums (which I will buy as I always do with music, movies and books).
I like Steve's personality but Rob is THE Exodus vocalist. This version of these two guys is testament to age, love & wisdom. Great watch/listen - love to all!
Man this podcast is absolutely awesome two of the best front men in metal history. I love both era's of them thank you zetro for this and thank you rob you both are cool dudes FUCK YEAH r.i.p Paul 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
So good to see those two chat about stuff each other made while in the band. Can't express how much would I love to see the same thing w Bush and Joey... meh, wishful thinking at best. PS "Throwing Down" is awesome. One of my fav from Tempo
Zetro, this was a killer episode! As a huge Exodus fan it was very cool seeing you two getting along and having an awesome conversation. Thanks so much for this! The best one by far! Even though I never comment,I've been watching your every single video since the start of the channel. So on this special video I just wanted to say a very huge thanks to you and Exodus for the music. Your music is helping me a lot through some very.... very shitty times in my life. Lost two close relatives and got dumped after being alone for many years all in one month. So this year just started awful... Being bullied at my job and not being able to fight back for half of year now. Financial problems. All of that fun stuff. And man... If it wasn't for Exodus music,I would have lost my sanity long time ago... At this point in my life, the only life line and the only thing that I'm excited for is the new Exodus album! That is what makes me go fight through another day, just so I can finally hear it! So yeah, just wanted to say a huge thanks to all of you guys. It really does mean a lot to me. Listening to Exodus and playing your stuff on guitar is what keeps my sanity. P.S. Gary Holt is my guitar GOD!
I took the time to watch this through in it's entirety...the best "conversation" I've ever experienced...to real, so true, so awesome - so METAL....thank you both!
Fucking fantastic interview/hangout session. What a dream having these two legends together in a room together. Thanks to both Zetro and Dukes for the music and for the good times.
I LOVE EXODUS. I love Gary Holt as a guitar player and songwriter. And I love you both on vocals! For me - Shovel.... is my favorite Exodus album from all of them. My first Exodus show was in Riga, Latvia, when Exodus was touring with Hypocrisy and I was blown away! II got that record and I love it a lot still today! Thank you Steve for this one, it was amazing to listen to you both!!!
I went to see exodus at the dna lounge in the early 2000”s and that was the first time I saw rob dukes! Not realizing Zet was not in the band! That”s how I found out! Exodus slayed as usual!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This talk was really interesting, funny, with a lot of background stories and really entertaining! I think it's absolutely awesome that this happened without a clash of egos! Excellent! Great show, thank you 👍🏻
Great interview! I'm so glad they are friends and can hang like this. I like 'em both as Exodus frontmen. No-one is better, they are both different. Win-win!
Shit this was sick. I love how the two main men of Exodus are sitting down and just having a great conversation. It would be super cool if Dukes and Zet did a online concert with Exodus 🤘🏻🤘🏻
What a fucking fantabulous podcast! This is the only time I've ever listened/watched and actually showed interest in a podcast, ever. I'm a massive Exodus fan, and I've been jamming Dukes era on repeat this past week since I saw you guys perform last week, and this episode was exactly what I wanted, and exceeded my wants on wanting to know more about the Dukes era of Exodus. 100/10 episode, Steve. I absolutely love all eras of Exodus, you and Rob are both fucking badasses, and again, this podcast was fucking fantastic. Thanks for putting out such a killer and perfect episode that actually sparked an interest in a podcast for me for once.
Two legends for sure, so much respect between the two. Real professionals , both class act and great at each one has done for Exodus. Totally different , but both awesome. I want to see Rob do more music but i understand that one has to make a living and has to do what a man has to do for him and his family. Much respect for the Duke and Zetro!!!!!!!
Good to see these 2 shoot the shit, Dukes always seemed angry & hateful in the zone on stage so it's cool to see his human side. But he is confusing Frost from Satyricon with Bard Faust from Emperor, Frost only had travel visa issues he never killed anybody. Anyway, respect ✊
I've really warmed to Dukes and have been listening to his era Exodus having got both Atrocity albums now and they are excellent. Before I just couldn't see anyone but Zetro being the singer for this band other than Paul of course whom I saw in '85. I've been a fan since BBB came out and they are my favourite thrash metal band hands down. Much respect to Rob Dukes. The guy is a legend in his own right and so happy he got back on his feet.
Going to watch this tonight, I ignored the Rob Dukes era for years, I was a Zetro fanboy, but about a month ago I dug out my copy of Shovel Headed Kill Machine and decided to give it a listen for the first time since it came out, I'm glad I did, I fucking loved it! I have since gotten The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A and Exhibit B: The Human Condition, great albums that I missed out on being the closed-minded fool I was 10 years ago, sorry Rob, forgive me, I have seen the light, and really appreciate your contributions to this amazing band, and Zetro...well you know you're awesome, lol, anyways I love your channel, keep it up. 🤘🏽
@@ZetrosToxicVault Absolutely, epic song structures too, that I see you still play live such "Deathamphetamine" and "Children of a Worthless God", great tracks no matter who is on vocals! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Hey Zet, Im a little late to the party, just found your channel. Thanks for this, Ive been wondering what the Mighty Dukes has been up to. I wish he had commented a bit more on the epic job you did on Blood in blood out. Maybe he will say more about that on the uncut interviews, just gotta say Zet your one great singer and what a great attitude, no ego and humble, I love it. Cant wait for the new Exodus AND Generation Kill Ps. Get John Bush in there for an interview if possible, the new Armored Saint is badass, cheers !!!

I agree. He handled this in a professional manner, shows me what kind of man he is.
Kerry King should hire Rob for his new band. That would suit him down to the ground.
Y’know, that’s actually a really good idea.
I've been telling my friends this same thing. It'd be amazing. Glad to see other people having the same idea.
Based on this interview it sounds like Rob doesn't really like working with Paul Bostaph. Who I would imagine would be the drummer in Kerry's next project.
HOLY SHIT! I didn't think of that. That's a really good idea. Robbs a great guitarist also. So he could be 2nd guitar. I don't know who would do bass.
That s is very good ..idea but ..the problem is Paul .......
Damn, couldn’t imagine any two era’s of singers sitting down and having a conversation.
Only other time I can think of is Roth and Hagar when they toured together in 2002.

Great interview ! 🤘🏼
Definitely lives up to the hype. Thanks Zet! This was fucking awesome! Love all the Dukes records.
Fucking love this guy Dukes
Congratulations on 28 years of sobriety
I took the time to watch this through in it's entirety...the best "conversation" I've ever experienced...to real, so true, so awesome - so METAL....thank you both!
Fucking fantastic interview/hangout session. What a dream having these two legends together in a room together. Thanks to both Zetro and Dukes for the music and for the good times.
This is awesome, really enjoyed watching and listening to all the stories. No egos, just all about respect and METAL!
What a great podcast/chat/interview! Respect to Rob for his candor and all the best to him.
This conversation is fucking killer. Been listening to so much Exodus lately (all eras) while at work, factory shifts fuelled by riffs!
I discovered exodus on Spotify, the first song I heard was war is my Shepard, I was into it, then I heard exhibit B and was blown away
Leonard and Charles rules man. And hate primer
Kādas dziesmas Exodus spēlēja Salamandrā ? Es vēlos rediģēt setlistfm lapu par Exodus Salamandras koncertu.
It's just one of the most open and honest segments I've ever heard. Love you both for doing it for the fans!
This is BY FAR the coolest episode EVER! Thanks to you Zet & Rob!
And Robs punk rock mentality is great.
I saw the 2.5 hour version and it was excellent. Lookin forward to seeing what else there is. You guys are in for a treat.
This is a dream, thank you Zetro. Love to see you guys shoot the shit, no bad blood. Both great frontmen
Loved it, thanks for doing this interview. Massive Exodus fan here that loves all eras of Exodus.
Great “conversation!” Much respect to you both! Thanks Boys
Fuckin A
I can't believe I waited this long to watch this...
Truly bonded with the blood flowing...
Thrash FOREVER!
I love both these guys...
Thank you Zetro, and Thank you Dukes...this is the best conversation ever 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Friend of Bill Wilson for 23 years as well! Love big full flavor cigars as well. Exodus fan since late 80's. You guys rock! Keep up the great work!
great show, glad to have seen and spoken to all 3 exodus singers over the years, all very cool dudes, very down to earth.
Thank you for having an open mind I love singing rob’s era stuff and the riffs are brutal !!🤘🤘🤘
Thank you for sharing, Zetro! Two badass frontmen from a killer thrash band. Exodus forever
The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A is such an underrated album. Loved all of Dukes albums.
Also Jack Gibson has an awesome bass sound!!!
Great episode !!! Love every era of Exodus! Awesome podcast with 2 legendary thrash metal vocalists 🤘🤘😈😈
Totally Totally enjoyed this....watched the whole thing thru in late evening. Love all era's of EXODUS. Great stories.
After this interview I immediately went to Amazon Prime Music, searched Generation Kill, and started driving fast. Really, Really FAST. Awesome band.
