Great camper. And your walk through was excellent. No talking about things that don't matter and you seemed to touch on everything! I just bought one of these and am REALLY excited.
1). Can you get inside and sleep without putting up the pop up? 2). Can you do two batteries? 3). What is the dry weight of this? 4). What is the wet weight, fully loading with all your options?
@@debbiblakeslee2373 So you can pull over on the road and access it safely. Also that is the way our campgrounds are set up. You pull into the camp spot hugging the left where thehookups are.
I could possibly reach the cups if the tires were flat or my hobby could lift me up there. Nice rig, but everything seem way too high for me !! I wouldn’t be a happy camper! Thank you for showing it though!
@@xcracer311 toyota tacoma is only available in the US and Canada, hilux is sold in South Africa with a diesel. So I was saying you would need 3 different gases to go camping here in the US.
Very, very well laid out and extremely practical. Quick question, neat the end you show the fresh water intake, WHY mount that over an electrical cable??
These are the kinds of setups I see at the local state park. A Honda civic and an $80 Coleman tent will do, but hey...you gotta pay to play. I'm not hating, I drive a Tundra so I'm familiar with this channel, but it is quite funny that these "overlanders" are so overbuilt. Yet, they see action that a Nissan rogue and an REI tent can handle. But hey, it's not money, so you guys do you. Looks dope though!
You opened the awning, and I Waited And Waited And Waited for you to show but needless to say It never happened. So I'm still curious, What does that 3/4 wrapped around awning look like ??????
Not bad, except I would have all controls and electronics switched with the Galley. I don't like the idea of electronic controls anywhere near a water source. Put the Galley on the passenger side with the outside shower. Makes Alot more sense to wash down the chow area quickly using the shower - Just Sayin'
How much does this whole build cost between mods to the truck and then the camper? And can you lift the camper off of the truck and turn it back into a daily driver? Which Tacoma would you recommend buying if you're going to be completely redoing suspension gears and differentials?
Great build!!! I would like to ask one favor - can someone show some love to the F250 owners - I would love to have this build on mine. Thank you again that is a excellent setup.
This is really cool but im sure the price for one of these is probably around 40k-50k and at the price I'd much rather have a black series travel trailer. I know they're more then this set up but if you can afford this thing then obviously $ ain't a problem! Good job whoever built this
It looks tuff as nails, I just don’t want to get up in the middle of the night and have to go to the bathroom outside... the old standard camper for us old guys!
So I’m wondering if the Kahya will even fit on my 2021 Toyota Tacoma off-road. Looks like you have a much older truck than I do. So what do you think and I also I’m afraid to ask what did that whole set up cost you if you don’t mind me asking ? I don’t have much saved up in the bank so I should probably start saving because your set up definitely looks very expensive! Any hot deals for veterans USA 🇺🇸
They do not make the Khaya for the full size truck market. We have several other options for you there. Give us a call at the shop and we can see what will work best for you.
Awesome got all the gear but not feeling the colour, chlostrophbic maybe just the close video buddy. Could you have peace of mind leaving it whilst out trekking/surfing though . Would you disclose the total expenditure completed. Happy adventure's
Great Build - I'm about to buy a Tacoma for solo overland travel going to Mexico & all points south. Do you figure you ever wanted to have or needed a Quad door instead of the Access Cab? Knowing the quad cab is a bit longer (+13.1") and heavier (+180lbs) with a similar-sized long box. Or are you just fine with the Access Cab?
No the rear bumper is still on there. There are brackets that can be mounted on the sides so you can use any normal camper jacks to lift it and remove it.
This is cool, but It really seems like everyone is making a camper that is a slight variation on this exact same format. If everyone is so eager to copy this pop-up style camper, then why aren't we seeing an improved Flippac? Is there a patent on that design? AT Overland has the Habitat, but I'd like to see that design flip forward instead of backwards for a more compact footprint.
Kp Lebeck I personally have used the alu-cab tent in San Felipe in 50+ knot winds overnight with zero issues. If it were to get up to 80 then I would close Kayah and sleep within the structure itself.
This is great for hunting but my concern is when it rains. How would you deal with damp wetness inside. Tents and that fabric is Notorious for allowing moisture to seep through. Also the zippers, wonder how well they will hold up over time. That being said, this unit is well put together. Again another product that is going to be on the high side of the money spectrum. As much as you are going to use this for hunting or a weekend in the woods, the cost out weighs the wallet. I think you can buy a dam nice off-road pop up for the money
I love everything about it except with all that being metal and black if you wanted to overland anywhere in the southwest during the summer you would cook inside that thing in the summer.
We've camped all over the southwest in the summer with both the black and silver Alu-cab tents and never once had a heat issue with either color. I actually prefer the black myself. They are insulated inside and if the air can flow through the tent it can be as comfortable as any other tent. When it's hot it's just hot outside and I more than likely will not be inside a tent or camper that time of day.
@@TAVLLC well that's definitely encouraging because I really like this unit. People sometimes complain about the price of these but my opinion is that you get what you pay for. You can tell by your review that everything on it is like built to milspec quality. I think it's worth every penny.

What an efficient use of space, so much packed into such a small package. Love it.
I always get excited when I see a new TAVLLC video!
Man that's a cool rig!
I love the innovation!
When you get old like me you get tired of sleeping in the dirt.
:D
That's the best I have seen you guy's got it together thanks for the video love that setup 😀 👍 👌
Wow, I like that setup!
That awning is pretty damn cool
Definitely the Cadillac of truck wedge campers!
Tactical wine glasses, nice.

Good review. The kitchen must be on the passenger side in the US. That layout is correct for overseas.

I've been hoping an amarican cumpany would sell these.. I'm a big fan of the simple style.
what kind of rear suspension upgrade you have on this truck to hold the weight of the camper?
Nice work!! Never mind the Na-sayers you get what you pay for!!!
Eric roadking thank you! Yeah lots of trolls out there.
Eric roadking yeah you do, a truck rendered useless once your tent is set up
Finally a good looking product made locally. Although makes sense why they targeting the US.
Not made locally made in South Africa
Jay Foo Wow not the sharpest tool hey. I'm South African, so yeah, made locally. Good luck lol.
Would love to see this on my Ford F250
With diesel heat, propane stove, and a gas engine. That's alot to find camping. But I like the layout.
Was thinking the same thing...
In South Africa the truck is probably diesel also the 270 degree awning is on the wrong side for the United States

I think I would want to keep my old 5th wheel. We are getting to old to climb in and out of something like this. If I was younger this would be sweet.
It does seem to be a fort more for big kids, not really as convenient as other options.
Looks great I'm pretty certain i can't afford it but its still a sweet rig. Nicely done.

I want more info on the ratchet straps for the shovel ? Looks amazing
GREAT!
Thank's for to share!

A rain catcher system to the tank would be nice as well, I'd imagine the cutting board and cooking set up better on the exterior but to each his own.
not to the drinking tank.. not with all the dust, dead flys, fire ash, diesel grime from the drive and god knows what else..

I need to be 7ft tall to use the Gally. Does it come with a step ladder.
How well would a 89 22re haul this around completely stock
This thing looks sweet but I know its gonna be out of my budget for awhile.
Does it come in Chrome. Black adds about 40 to 50 degrees
Great innovation
Mine would contain all of my rifles and sub machine guns, other side would all be ammo and gas
Not for me but he seems pleased with it!
Awesome Love it! However, the gap in between camper and the bedside seems weird. On the Hilux it's almost flush - looks right.

Unfortunately not. It was designed for the mid sized trucks only.
