I love how after all these years NMS is still basically just "fly around and collect shit with your shit collecting gun" lmao

It’s literally not? There’s so much stuff to do it’s ridiculous. Missions, story, base building, ship building, freighter bases, exploration, PVE, derelict freighters, boss fights, Co-op, living ships, upgrades, actual markets with supply and demand, alien languages to learn, pets to tame, genome sequencing, expeditions, crafting, and a bunch more. What part of any of that is just “collecting shit”?

    • @-schattenpflanze-3755
      @-schattenpflanze-3755 2 месяца назад +2

@@Griffo4 thats just cosmetics. Designing and upgrading ship and character. You dont need a base, you need to collect shit if you wanna use a market, theres no practical use in pets and tamed animals. The Story is basically non existent or unchanged since release.
Boss fights are there i guess but they arent any spectacular. 90% of the playtime consists of flying from copy pasted to copy pasted Planet and collect shit.

@@-schattenpflanze-3755 Saying “you don’t need something” is such a stupid point. Using that logic, you don’t even have to play the game. Having fun is doing things that aren’t “necessary” to completing the game, because they’re fun and a feature of the game. You don’t “need” to play any video game at all, but you do, because it’s fun. Building a base is fun. Also, only one or two things I listed are cosmetics. The rest is all actual gameplay and content. Sure, maybe some of the planets can feel redundant, but I still always find at least one unique thing about every planet I land on. And maybe the main story is the same, but they have added a plethora of mini stories to the game in updates. A few examples are: The sentinel story from the sentinel update, the autophage story from echoes, the living ship quest, etc. Additionally, each of the 14 expeditions has its own unique story, each lasting a couple of hours. From my experience, flying around and collecting stuff isn’t 90% of the gameplay. Most of it is exploring, base building, playing expeditions, and occasionally collecting resources. If getting resources is really such a bother to you, then why did you decide to play a game listed as a survival sandbox in the first place?

I mean. There is nothing else to show in a game mainly based on exploration.
They did show alot of new stuff in previous updates like base buildings, mech driving and stuff. Even then they showed alot of flying and walking lol.

Amazing review. A tech demo and walking simulator disguised as a game. You should see what the switch version of the trailer for 5.0 looks like. Oh, they didn't release that because it looks so terrible. This is a game made by a bunch of nerdy programmers who don't know anything about game design. So they talk constantly about how amazing their engine is, and the trailers consist mostly of players walking around. It's like they think they're the architect from The Matrix or something. And to be fair, the procedural engine is somewhat of an accomplishment, but too bad there's nothing to do in it unless you like flying or walking around, building, or gathering resources, all for no reason.

Damn who pissed in your cherrios? Fun is what you make of it. If you want curated content with AAA level shit you're in the wrong place.
Im not saying the game is perfect by any means but shitting on the graphics coming out of a NINTENDO SWITCH is a laughable excuse to hate on the developers. ITS A FUCKING NINTEDO
News flash but Nintendo was never really known for their graphics capabilities and hardware. Naturally a game as massive as NMS is gonna have some issues looking as good as a PC user using a RTX 4090
      Also
      -Derelict Frighters?
      -Multiplayer quests?
      -Ship collecting?
      -Pirate raids?
      -Sentinel raids?
      -Biological infestations?
      -Ship hunting
      -Ship building
Huh...guess all those things are just a figment of my imagination.

@@crashlag420 No, fun is not what you make of it. The design of the game determines how fun it is. Why don't you read Raph Koster's book, A Theory Of Fun?
Suggesting that the graphics of a Nintendo console are inherently bad because it is a Nintendo console is what is laughable. Many first party Nintendo Switch games look as good or better than games on next gen consoles. Graphics is not only about technical fidelity, but artistry. It's as silly as suggesting that the Super Nintendo will always have bad music because it's difficult to make music on that console. Meanwhile, The SNES Donkey Kong Country by David Wise and Eveline Fischer is one of the best soundtracks ever made, even when held up to soundtracks made with modern hardware.
Some of the best-looking games I have played have been 2D pixel art games. Artistry, not fidelity.
All of the gameplay features you describe are shallow, repetitive, and do not scale to player progression effectively.
We need to move away from this strange notion where if someone is critical of the objective merit of something, there is something wrong with them or they are being negative. Mindsets like that actually result in worse products and games being created. We need to increase our artistic literacy.
