The year where they could’ve easily made it to at least the second round. So many blown 4th Q leads. Eli had his second or third best season ever despite the 6-10 record.
Ronin 77 - his winning percentage is below average but hes top 10 in touchdowns all time and top 10 in yardage all time.... how is that below average? Also top 5 all time in 4th quarter comebacks
@@johnysac420 He's top 10 in touchdowns all time because the guy played 14 full seasons. Eli is a durable QB, no question, and he compiled a shitload of TDs. But at an average of about 24 TDs a season (and 16 picks). Nobody gives a shit about yardage, btw. That doesn't win games. And as for the 4th quarter comebacks, Eli is barely .500 as a QB in his career so I wouldn't brag about that. He'll be in the HOF because of the 2 rings, which came down to 2 of the luckiest throws I've ever seen. He deserves the HOF based on that, but when his record is examined you'll see Eli was in the top ten only 3 times in the 14 years he played, only made the Pro Bowl 4 times, led the league 3 times in interceptions, and was an absolutely average QB.
Ronin 77 - fair enough ..but the mannigham throw was a dime not luck, lyterally maningham had no choice but to catch it, and he still had to hit buress in the enzone after the tyree play. I would also say that as lucky as you think they were to win their superbowls, they have been just as unlucky with calls throughout the regular season over the years if you actually watch the gmen. But i see your point the interceptions were certainly a staple of eli but you could say the same of brett farve who through some of the ugliest picks youve ever seen. I enjoy the conversation this is what makes sports so great. Btw whose your team? Ps. Your dismissing those amazing playoff runs he had by saying he only made 2 throws to win 2 rings. The guy has proved he can play .. we know hes not tom brady obviously.
Snoice Eli played great in 2 playoffs, no question, but he got bounced 4 times in the first round. Also you can't compare Eli with Favre-- Favre has a lot of picks but he played 5 more seasons than Eli, was an 11-time Pro-Bowler and 4-time All-Pro. He's on another level than Eli, between '95-'97 Favre was the best QB in the NFL. Eli was only in the top 10 3 times in 14 years I'm a Chiefs fan btw
It's sad to see that most of his TD passes seemed to come when the Giants were trailing. And it's also sad to know that the defense gave up the lead in almost all of those games.
@@finn_nyc2332 statistically speaking. 2011 29 regular season, 16 ints. 9 tds in the playoffs. He did have better passing yards this season. 2015 35 TDs regular season, only 14 ints.
if we would have drafted Desean Jackson,Jordy Nelson,Jamall Charles or Matt Forte we would have been alright. We passed on those guys in the draft 2008.
zombie2pac thinking back at that. It makes me sick to my stomach. Cause we would have repeated. I don't think there's a question about it. Steelers were great. But Giants were a way better team that year (with plax). Him fucking up completely messed up the way the offense was ran.
Eli's comeback against the Panthers the year they went to the Superbowl was sick the game with Josh Norman Odell Beckham Junior getting into one fight after another another game we could have won and should have the Giants failed Eli Manning and they are failing Daniel Jones
TBH from what I saw Randle isn't as bad as most Giants' fans accused him. He isn't a great receiver but from the highlights we can see he is a weapon for Eli Manning. Same as Nicks and Manningham. Without Manning those receivers are nothing.
Ya but he would frustratingly disappear for large stretches of games at times. You're looking at a game like the Redskins road game. Sure he made that big play on 4th and long down 20-0 but the guy was just complete trash up until that point. He had a few drops and ran the wrong route with lead to an interception.
The Super Bowl bound Panthers who were 15 and 1 this season the Giants should have beaten we gave up the lead with a minute and a half to go or less Eli Manning would have more game-winning drives then a lot of people if this were not the constant narrative
Cant believe with the receivers Eli Manning has had that this is the season he has the most passing TD's. Having Plaxico,Toomer,Shockey,Barber for the check down,Steve Smith,Nicks,Cruz,Manningham. figure we would at reach 42 once.
Plax and Shockey were so overrated. Eli made them look good. Not the other way around. I would take Dez, Michael Thomas, Alshon Jeffery, Keenan Allen, and probably even Allen Robinson over Plax. Plax was more like Kelvin Benjamin or Terrelle Pryor imo. He could be dominant on those deep routes and 50-50 balls, but he wasn't a well-rounded, dependable #1 WR that could carry an offense and move the chains like Odell or Julio or AJ Green or the other guys I named above. He also had his up years and his down years like guys like Kelvin Benjamin and Terrelle Pryor. And people forget that Shockey left for the Saints after the 2007 season. And guess what? He flamed out almost immediately. He was average at best with DREW BREES throwing to him in Sean Payton's offense. And it's not like he was old and washed up, he was only 28 at the time. Shockey did excel as a blocking TE, but people remember him as an elite pass catcher, which just isn't true. He was an above average pass catching TE early in his career, no doubt, but he wasn't anywhere near guys like Gronk, Graham, Olsen, Kelce, Hunter Henry, Eifert, Jordan Reed, etc. He was maybe Zach Ertz at best, for a few seasons early in his career. Kyle Rudolph is probably the best comparison. Maybe Jack Doyle or even Coby Fleener when he was solid in indy. Toomer also wasn't exactly a world beater, especially by the time Eli became the starting QB. He was into his 30s at that point and was below average for a starting WR. Maybe like an old Jordan Matthews or a Jeremy Maclin if Maclin could still run. Point is, Eli and Tiki carried the Giants in those early years. The pass catchers were very over-rated. And he didn't have a decent core around him until 2009-2012 when it was Nicks, Cruz, and Manningham... and that one weird year when Steve Smith was good.
Look at all the players stats that you named before Eli Manning even got there you're making little sense. Toomer and Shockey were producing with Kerry Collins at QB. And Plaxico was producing with Maddox and Stewart at QB.
well, it didn't help that John Hufnagel was the worst OC of all time. Kerry Collins had Sean Payton running the offense. notice how the offense fell apart after Payton left in 2003. Eli would've been so much better if he had an actual offensive coordinator. Hufnagel was seriously the worst ever. He was fired after '06 and literally never landed another job in the NFL again. Most OCs will at least land a job as an assistant after getting fired. Not Hufnagel. toomer was 31-34 during Eli's years. they cut toomer's targets pretty drastically once Plax arrived, so of course his yardage totals dropped. but he was still pretty solid from a yards/target perspective, for a #2 WR in his 30s. obviously his best years were with Collins, he was 25-28 at the time. Shockey's best season was in 2005 with Eli. his 2002 season with Collins was almost as good. he fell off in 06-07, but I still think that if he was an actual good TE, he would've killed it in New Orleans with Brees and Payton. why was he so mediocre in NO? Plax had a great season in '02 with Maddox, but other than that one year, he was just as good in NYG as he was with PIT, and this was in Hufnagel's crap offense. If Jerry Jones hadn't stolen Payton, Eli's early career would've looked much different.
Many of those guys weren't with Eli for long due to injuries and Toomer was on the downward of his career when Eli was traded to the Giants. In Shockey's case, he forced the trade to the Saints and Plaxico shooting himself and spending few years in prison didn't help. Eli had to deal with constant change in targets. Also the fact that Gilbride's offensive system happens to be the longest one he worked with should tell you something as it was somewhat an outdated high risk high reward system that can work if both the QB and the target were on the same page, hence the ints. It's also the reason why even with his 2015 season, I still consider 2011 to be his best even without the SB title factored in due to the system he had to play with. His 2015 season is still his all time top 3. With that said, Gilbride's system may have been annoying but it was still miles better than Hufnagel who nearly turned Eli into just a couple notches above a level of a bust.
We are seeing his 2013 season all over again. He has regressed, and his skills are roughly sophomoric. Other QBs are looking like they are polished in comparison. Get back to the basics, as he taught some of his students at the Manning Academy.
Too bad up until now(besides 2016) our defense was Fuckin horrendous. It’s saddening that when we had Eli, rookie saquon, Odell, rookie slayton, shep and engram on the same offense and our Oline and defense was fucking terrible

different team this year (2016-2017). Giants have the best D but the worst O-line in the division.
yeah because the Giants only start getting aggressive at passing when the other team starts kicking their ass
if we could combine the defense from this year with the offense from last year, Giants would be unbeatable
Tunes342 I agree. However, Eli in the playoffs is a big threat to other teams.. that guy is Clutch
The Rain Man I think if Eli keeps it up he could get passed the Cowboys and get to the super bowl
He had no defense. *ALL* 6 wins were because of Eli, and if he had a D, EASILY an 11-5 or 12-4 season.
Truth .. if anyone actually watches giants games they would know this
Plex was great but he was no obj
Here's a perfect example of a season wasted of Eli Manning's greatness because the defense was putrid and gave up every lead
Eli Manning had a Howitzer for an arm

How many times in this season did Eli give the Giants the lead with 2 minutes or less to go, and lost?
Mastered a West Coast offense over a summer.
And they owed Eli Manning to let him play out his last season and that's just a prime example of the Giants head brass
And then the narrative is always Eli throws too many interceptions
What happened to the 2008 and 2012 giants
