thank you I have lost about 30 pounds and i am now swimming my fire department uniform shirts. I am pretty handy, sewing seems a lot like woodworking. You’ve given me the confidence to give it a try. If i screw up I’ll just order another shirt from my FD! lol
CONGRATS on losing the weight! 30 pounds is no small feat! Good luck sewing. If I may, there’s also a video on darting the back. That will help you get rid of the poppyness in the back of the shirt!
GentStyle yes, I did see and saved this video and tried doing what you did. However, the shirt is too big. The shoulders were still to big, so I will have to cut and trim. Thank you for responding so quickly.☺️
Great video. Just wanted to ask. When you took it in from the sides normally before tailoring there is a double seam when you taiiir it there will be only one does it matter.
Thanks Robert! I just got my first machine, and I'm just learning to use it. Question: It seems like there will be a couple inches of fabric stitched together on the inside. Is that a non-issue, even if it's close to 2 inches?
Great tutorial except you didn't thread the machine properly (which might cause stitching issues), the thread is meant to go behind the small metal bar at the top of the needle (it looks sort of like a hook). Just thought I'd let you know and anyone else who watches this video.
Trim the excess to 5/8”, zig zag the cut edge to control raveling. Press zig zag edge to back of shirt or back of sleeve. For finished look stitch the folded seam down 3/8” from seam line to mimic professional finish (like a flat fell seam). Do not retain the excess as suggested in the finished garment.
thank you for this video..I havent used a sewing machine since 1982. just purchased a machine. practicing on some old blouses. Thanks again

Great to see someone reuse rather than go new. I know people who throw things away because they lost a button!
Jenine Turner thank you!
Oh wow, you are good at this man!
This is a great video! I appreciate the time you took to clarify the little details that I usually get lost on on other videos!
Kelsey Mason thanks Kelsey! Just uploaded another tailoring video!
Thanks for the lesson and great job. It’s nice to see a young man take the time to revamp instead of waist and also take the time to look good.
Claudia Herrera Vaughn thank you so much Claudia!
Do you have a video on how to alter a shirt from 4xl to 2xl and with a pleat on the back?
Claudia Herrera Vaughn ruclips.net/video/Nz9q85KPaW0/видео.html maybe this will help!

Claudia Herrera Vaughn good luck!
What a great video! Thank you so much for putting this together… I’m inspired to try it myself.
You can do it!
Granny taught ya well 👍🏽
I’d say so!
My dude, You just save my whole life! Thank you!
Glad I could help!
You’re a stud man. Keep on bettering yourself sir
Shawn Paulsen I appreciate it bro! Thanks for watching!
Great video, keep up the good work! Looking forward to more.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Awesome information. Thank you for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!

It doesn't really matter if there are two seams there originally. When you sew only one new one, it will be strong enough to hold.
@@GentStyle thanks

jfish611 I’m kinda confused. What part of the sewing of the shirt are you referring to?
he said to cut off the excess.
Yeah you can leave it in or cut it off.
Great video! What’s the of the song in the background though?
I don’t remember 😂
I was looking for the model of sewing machine in description.

Can you show me how to alter the sleeve? My shirt's sleeve is too big
It’s not too hard just turn the sleeve inside out and sew from the arm pit to slightly before the cuff. Very similar to the sides.
Wait, you sewed it. What did you do with the part that you wanted to get rid of?
You can just cut it out or leave it in depending on if you want to losen up the shirt in the future.

Tailor your hair too bro. Thank me later
Dan Smith I don’t take style advice from people who have drawings as their profile picture. Have a great day, sorry 🤷🏾♂️
@@GentStyle Hnmm....too bad.
Hahaha. You knew somebody would get you sooner or later. Laugh about it and keep it movin'. Great vid.
