Govee seems to be getting a bit greedy, There reputation was good quality and “affordable”. They want $300 and up for this product that doesnt offer hdmi 2.1?
I love my Govee products, but the $300 asking price doesn't make me want to toss my current G1 Pro away for it. Great in-depth video here. Thanks for sharing 👍
The workaround for HDMI 2.0 doesn’t always work. It causes my monitor to lose signal when launching some games. I wouldn’t say this is worth the price until they release a 2.1 version
I’m still a fan of the camera system as I like having the lights work with all content. It’s very accurate and delay isn’t even that noticeable while watching or gaming.
Nah fam that shit noticeable the cap in this is heavy it’s not noticeable if you just don’t care much but I had that shit and it was garbage compared to the diy setup cuz the lag behind was way to noticeable
I have the T2 and after months of troubleshooting we can only use it in a pitch black room because reflections make it show wrong colors. So sick of it. I have to see if I can upgrade to this and ditch the camera.
I got it today from Amazon UK and it’s really immersive experience with no delay! I had too much fun with this brand! GOVEE AI Sync Box was… 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
They are both really good so its a tough one but in this instance the use cases are not the same as Lytmi is for TV large screen experience and Govee is for a gaming desk setup, but this AI is pretty impressive I'd be curious to know if Govee do a sync box with hdmi 2.1 together with AI.
Thanks to you for that tutorial video. My brand new sync box worked 100%! My Monitor is a HP M32F (31.5) and it’s just remarkable product! 💙💙💙💙🎉🎉🎉🎉🎊🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
do you need to hook up HDM ARC from the TV/monitor to the sync box? I want to get the new Govee T3 when it's out, I'm hoping I can get the sync box for games and still use the camera T3 for movies (do you know if this works?). My current only TV HDMI ARC is already being used for something so I'm hoping I can use the regular HDMI 2.1 for the sync box + PS5
HDMI 2.0 is a terrible setback. They should know that the gaming enthusiasts they were targeting cannot switch back to HDMI 2.0 with all the high-end hardware they have... I was super hyped to see this product on Amazon and was considering switching my hue lights to Govee but it is impossible now since I can't bare to use HDMI 2.0 after spending a fortune on my display and GPU. 🤷🏻♂
Especially with new graphics cards that are acutally affordable at this point. If you spent 300 bucks just for Ambilight you would probably also shell out 800 bucks for a graphics card, by which point you get something that can do UHD with good refresh rates in many games. That is just a shame
@@Caaataybeywell there's a solution I've been trying to spread around..I actually have this Sync box and get all 2.1 features through a splitter setup on my PS5. 4K120, VRR, HDR, ALLM, etc

Got it on Black Friday for $80. Thanks for the video! I tried doing the duplicate displays hack but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for me? I can set it to duplicate, even after matching the resolutions together.
Was about to buy this but like a lot of others, I don't want to hamstring my PC to 4K 60fps, if it was 2.1 I'd be all over it and I don't want to add more accessories to achieve some workaround. Also my screen is 42" so could still use it but wouldn't be as good I guess. Another thing I noticed was the colours displayed didn't really correlate with what was on screen, seemed to be a lot of purple going on when there was none on the game like at 5:58
It is definitly worth getting if you have a pc on your desk and use rgb components. I have the g1 pro and the camera picks up the light from the pc and makes the colours innacurate. If I have my pc lights on blue when the monitor screen shows red the govee rgb turns pinkish purple which is not ideal.
I was excited, that faded. But it's 1 step forward. I don't like the light bars, couldn't care for them personally. Another con is the size, max 34" monitor.
I had one the first Philips ambilight TV with only left right recognition, and from the performance I am seeing in this video, Govee is not even close. Colour changes are very harsh and sometimes the colours don't even match the ones on the TV or monitor. That was never the case with Ambilight, so AI or not AI needs huge improvement on the algorithm.
Do you know if this would still work if I was using a display port for my 1440p 240hz monitor? Could I just use one of the hdmi ports on my gpu to send to the grovv box?
So if i use the box as second monitor and just mirror the image i would still able to use my DP as main monitor and goove at 1080p 60hz mirrored second display.. will it work all time? or to go just with camera mod?
Hello, I have a problem with the package and hope you can help me. I set everything up as shown, the lighting stays white. Even if I turn on the aimode, the lighting doesn't adapt to the game like lol. Does the bix have to be connected to the WiFi for this to work or what am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance for the help.
So with Philips you only need Philips Bridge (40 euro) and Hue Lights (100-120 euro) for PC, no need for Sync Box (200 euro) and really for windows only download their app. You would only need sync box for console or TV and Govee Play Lights and Synbox bundle is priced at 299 euro. Philips comes out cheaper currently, for people who only plan to use the integration on PC, 160 euro and you can add Sync Box down the line. I do find Govee products awesome and AI integration do look awesome, but to make a difference they need lower price or at this price offer something more like proper 4K 120hz capable box for me to get one for my TV or console at price of 299 euro. Ok so I have a QD OLED 3440x1440 @ 175hz and use HDR in games. I believe this box is a no,no for me if I want to get the max out of it considering it's limited to HDMI 2.0 specs, correct?
No you can't use DisplayPort, but if you're graphics card has an additional HDMI output then you can use that for the box and duplicate displays in your settings
I am kinda buffled, that is called a gaming sync box besides not supporting a single DisplayPort connection?? Most modern gpu's don't even have more than 1 HDMI output.
If I use two different cables, one into the sync box and one from the graphics card into the monitor, as you mentioned in the video to achieve a higher refresh rate, will there be any negative performance impact while gaming?
Can you still connect a second monitor? I guess you would have to choose "duplicate" as screen mode and therefore not have a real second monitor, or can you?
@@WarClonk Okay so I bought the sync box and tried it out. So I plugged in one cable from the graphics card directly into the monitor and another one through the sync box into the monitor. After that, in the settings, two of the same monitor appeared and then i chose to duplicate the signal from one of the monitors to the other through the display settings. @@youbelongtoocean482 Am I getting this correct, can I use this with displayport? I got the exact same monitor he put it on, 32GQ950. And I only play at 4k 160Hz. Do I have to put in two HDMI-cables or is the displayport sufficient? I don't wanna throttle my system. Thanks for help.
@@callmetarif Okay so you will need two separate connections going from your pc to your monitor. First of all, the displayport cable you're using to run your monitor at 4k 160hz should still be connected, so going directly from your pc to your monitor. Then, additional to that, you want to take an hdmi cable and plug it from your pc into the hdmi sync-box and then from the output of the sync box into your monitor. So this should leave you with your monitor having one displayport cable and one hdmi cable going into it, where the displayport cable is directly connected to your pc and the hdmi cable is also connected to your pc via the hdmi sync-box. This will then, in Windows settings, leave you with two identical separate monitors appearing. And then what you want to do is duplicate the signal from the displayport cable, as that signal is capable of supporting your resolution at the correct refresh rate, to the hdmi signal. This will lead to your monitor running at 4k 160hz while also duplicating the signal to the hdmi sync-box, meaning it will also work. So in conclusion, you will need two separate outputs from your pc, one that is capable of supporting your monitor at 4k 160hz and the other just to go into your sync box. The monitor will only display the displayport-cable's signal, meanwhile it duplicates the signal to the sync box, making it work correctly.

@@GeekStreet Soo there is no way to have ambient light on 45" monitor? :P
Can this go on 65" tv?
Check out my review for the Govee AI Gaming Sync Box for TVs - ruclips.net/video/fvB9XrmZQJo/видео.html
DOA without display port for Nvidia gsync users.
Can this be used on a tv and ps5?
They never answer this questions! thats all i want to know
'Govee AI' good review but lights are not my thing or ever have been , appreciate the product & what they are doing but they seem behind a little bit on whats needed tech/spec wise
❤️
I have a problem I have the govee model h6601 govee al gaming sync box kit. I did everything as it says in the description. hdmi in to computer and hdmi out to monitor the hdmi cable to the computer does not have to be connected to the graphics card hdmi point, but to that of the computer, right? I've tried all the HDMI ports on the computer, including those from the graphics card. Unfortunately, the video mode does not work, the lights always remain white in the mode. I use a 4k monitor, the Samsung odysee g8. would be very nice if someone maybe knows qas i'm doing wrong
Did you fix it
no dp ...? :(
😭
HDMI? wtf? Most pc gaming is done on DisplayPort nowadays with current gen GPU's
This is for TV's and consoles that why it just has HDMI
Ahh running a piece of tech that intercepts screen information that is connected to a low quality app, any hackers dream scenario.
Must be joking, not tv compatible, no 120 hz etc & still stupidly priced. Swing and a miss
Dude it's hdmi 2.0 fuck no, all gaming is 2.1
😭
This whole review sounds like something Govee wrote. Not to mention that a 3rd of the time the ambient lights are wildly inaccurate while the "review" keeps praising how accurate they are. I wonder how that happened... Hue pricing is outrages, but the reality is this is not a serious competitor, more of a janky alternative at best.
The box is not working all hdmi is dead
250$ on amazon
Still no hdmi2.1 though
Yes a bit of a shame but this is ment for the PC gaming market and you can get a higher output with multiple output ports.
needs hdmi 2.1 its 2023
A 2.1 8k hdmi splitter solves all of these isssues
I've been looking for one any recommendations?
@GeekStreet the lytmi hdmi box comes with 2.1.. and supports 8k 60hz after demoing both I feel the lytmi is the better of the two at the moment.. until govee is hdmi 2.1 it's a pass... I enjoy the govee ecosystem more.. and I love the interconnectivity. But they should do better for a 300$ asking price
@GeekStreet you can relink this with your affiliate link
No HDMI 2.1, no deal.
This is already outdated upon release as Lytmi has it beat!!
Lytmi is awesome but this slightly different due to the AI

50" Problems
😳🤔
LMAO not at $300 it wont be the end of anything. For $300 Ill buy a ton of rgb strips, a diy controller and install signal rgb and save $200
For pc use and no 4k 120htz. Who are they kidding. Nope fail.
Lytmi better
These aren’t better than the Philips hue lmao
