The podcast Behind the Bastards did a four parter on the Duggers, it's pretty good. It goes waaay more in depth with the quiverful movement and how it relates/led to the Duggers.
"as Americans, let's be real here, we're all kind of pieces of shit" I've always felt this way, we literally all benefit off of the pain of others to make our lives more convenient lmao. We acknowledge how bad it is but we don't really give a shit because we don't stop our actions after finding out how we're exploiting poverty. We can try to be as good as we can but realistically it'll never be enough and we're all kind of fine with that.
“Why are the most religious people the craziest” 28:55 Because to believe entirely without any question you cannot have external thought process. So people who are entirely devout to one belief explicitly are often brainlets. I understand the need/want for religion and particular beliefs but to rise to such a level you must not have any other beliefs or question what was written. Which I’m my opinion shows lack of thought about externalities. (Things happening around them, to them, by them, by others etc). Basically a lack of any objectivity from lack of processing/what’s believed to be necessary input.
I agree with all this, but I think what ppl fail to realize is how insidious indoctrination is. Especially with ppl like the Duggars. There is an entire apparatus of power and control at play that starts when you’re child. When we’re this impressionable we believe most if not everything our parents say, now imagine that and on top of that your parents control EVERYTHING YOU DO. Your clothes, what you watch, who your friends are, your education. People raised in that way are not taught how to think for themselves it’s entirely done for them. What you then get is adults whose entire identity is the church and whatever religion it is. Some people get “lucky” and get to college and are exposed to other ways of thinking, but that type of brainwashing takes years and years to undo. It can be deeply traumatic, and inevitably you end up one of 3 ways you stay and are blissfully unaware, you leave and adjust and hopefully find your own values outside the church or you become so brain broken at the thought that your whole life was a lie you fall into some pattern of addiction. While I’m sure there are a bunch of different variations as a person whose experienced it first hand while not as extreme as the Duggars that’s about how a large chunk of ppl end up.
That's really well put, I am the only one in my family who has left Christianity and some conversations with my family are just impossible, the brainwashing is insane
Oh no Hassan doesn't get it 😂 the counting on show followed everyone of the molested sisters lives following their marriages and baby making. It started with Jill and Jessa, then went on to include joy and jinger as well as the boys Josiah and John David. But before it was canceled it followed all the victims in his own family. Fun fact jim boob didn't pay any of his children much what they were owed from the show. Jill had to threaten legal ramifications to get like a 3rd of what she was owed 🤷🤦 he wasn't even supposed to be part of the show but was involved with the money? Make it make sense.
It’s awful that children aren’t protected with reality TV and RUclips, now tik tok. If the kids were “child actors” in movies and television, they’d be protected
I live in South Carolina. It can be cheap af to live in certain areas of the South if you have the "right" complexion and are on good terms with the "Good Ole Boys." You can get land and a house cheap in the middle of nowhere. You'll have a well with an electric pump for water (pretty common throughout the South outside of cities and suburbs). You end up only paying for electricity and cable/internet IF it's available. And you can bet your ass they're getting WIC and foodstamps! He is likely involved in financial development and various businesses with other members of the church that gets mentioned. The "Good Ole Boys" system continues because men keep finding it useful to try to become one of them. They take care of each other and shit on everyone else, including their own daughters in this case.
I hate to have empathy for Josh’s wife, but where is she supposed to go? She has like 5 kids and no support to leave the church. Even if there’s a go fund me for her, maybe she could get a home but zero support. And she’s been told she will burn in hell if she leaves. That sounds stupid to a normal person, but she truly believes she will be tortured in the afterlife for all of eternity. Idk, it’s hard enough for a normal mom to try and leave an abusive relationship with five kids. But she’s been brainwashed. She’s being supported by the church. Idk, I just feel for the girl.
@@str8ballinSA Not really but some do. They aren’t very consistent but that seems to be a pattern with them. I looked it up. Now I’ll never unknow that one of the girls named her child Spurgeon
As a cis guy and someone in the Transformers fandom, I don’t know if it’s anecdotal and really even my place to say, but most of the people I see who make the TRANS-Formers joke ARE trans people, which means he straight up stole that joke from them and tried to use it negatively
I’m sorry you know that. You don’t deserve to know that. I feel for gen z. Even if your parents were watching your internet, you guys had weird kids showing you on their phone.
I had to babysit my brother when I was 8, and it was because my mom was put into a very tough and difficult situation to get out of. We were alone and poor, and had no other choice. My mom would never have made me babysit my brother, and basically parent him because she was too busy popping out babies to do it herself. Like that's just horrible. Edit: shocker how the family who sees sexual assault as an appropriate response to the victim "asking for it" by wearing revealing clothing, doesnt see too big of a problem with their son sexually assaulting their young daughters because "hes young". Like if that was my son, first of all that just wouldn't be a possibility. And if it somehow became a possibility I would beat him until the cops would have to pull me off. Idc, what he did is absolutely disgusting on so many levels, I wouldnt be able to control myself. I would just be seeing red.
What’s the point of having that many kids other than to form your own cult. It’s not like Michelle even knows them since the second they’re off her boob she throws them to the siblings just to pop out the next one. You simply can’t be present in all their lives taking in each of their milestones and giving them the attention they need and deserve. I’m 100% sure the older kids probably know them far better than the parents ever will. The whole purpose of kids for them was solely indoctrination. It’s sad that they’re so extreme that the only people they can get to join them are children who have no choice
The money question is real. I make 120k a year, I'm the only money maker in the house. We've got 2 kids below 2 years old, a car payment, and normal house bills. And we never save, we are strapped a lot. 18 kids is...fucking impossible.
I had to pause this break it down and watch it. I am genuinely not shocked this happen with Josh Duggar. This is why I trust no one at chruch all of them have some sort of issues with this 🙃 Don't even wanna marry any one at chruch cause of those obivous reason.

I don't believe in corporal punishment but like cmon. For both him and for the parents. Allowing your son to molest your own daughters is like one of the most vile crimes anyone could even think of.
I don’t blame the wife. She’s so brain washed. Coming from an evangelical background you’re almost encouraged to go for someone with Josh’s history because they had a “Jesus life changing grace mercy story” like “Omg God has done such a great work in his life” it’s like a brag
@@MrsPban exactly. She thinks exactly how she was brainwashed for 30 something years to think. She is a victim too. Even when told about the evidence she thinks that it’s not real or that he’s still being framed.

While all of this is INSANE, the thing that stands out to me the most is that at 19:29 you can see that someone has made a Duggar Family wiki. Like, man, what are we doing in the Western world? These TLC stars actually do get paid a lot. But In the industry its usually a common practice to not acknowledge the large amount of money the cast receives. Despite that a lot of people get super dependent on the money they receive from the show. Which can lead into situations where the cast member are forced to ruin their lives and friendships in order to make the cut and get paid. Even the local Arkansas communities think the Duggars are messed up. That says a lot in itself. I love this beautiful state and nice people. We may be poor but we make it work.
In my mind this works like automation at some point kids are selfsufficient. If you have enough that are old they can take care of the young ones and when the old ones move out you got more ready.

I was making food and told my mom I was watching a video about the duggars. No way those kids know even basic reading/writing/math etc if children were teaching them.
Forever grateful to have bump into Hasan clips while the whole cussy arc was going on
The podcast Behind the Bastards did a four parter on the Duggers, it's pretty good. It goes waaay more in depth with the quiverful movement and how it relates/led to the Duggers.
Fuck yeah I love Robert Evans and BtB
"as Americans, let's be real here, we're all kind of pieces of shit"
I've always felt this way, we literally all benefit off of the pain of others to make our lives more convenient lmao. We acknowledge how bad it is but we don't really give a shit because we don't stop our actions after finding out how we're exploiting poverty. We can try to be as good as we can but realistically it'll never be enough and we're all kind of fine with that.
This time of year I really miss the Hell’s Kitchen react videos but this will do!!
“Why are the most religious people the craziest”
28:55
Because to believe entirely without any question you cannot have external thought process.
I’m a Christian myself and yes. Quite frankly not questioning what you’re told is just brainwashing yourself
"I can excuse child molestation and rape, but I draw the line at cheating on your spouse!"
I'm watching this against my better judgement haha religious trauma go brrrr. I just hid behind Hassan and chat's commentary lmao. Lesgoooooo. 👍🏻👍🏻✨✨
If the kids were “child actors” in movies and television, they’d be protected
i love watching the j aubrey vid myself first - then coming back to watch it with hasan… helps with his pausing imo
10/10 RUclips ad placement.
0/10
As a MENA boy im watching this like game of thrones. The writer called the main villain Jim Bob its a pretty obvious red flag though. 7/10
I need The Unlearning Channel so I can go back to a more innocent me
Imagine naming anything "Jedidiah".
That is, sadly, a biblical name lol
@@cthulhuhoops Every one of that brood bears an Old Testament name.
@@str8ballinSA Not really but some do. They aren’t very consistent but that seems to be a pattern with them. I looked it up. Now I’ll never unknow that one of the girls named her child Spurgeon
I once drunkenly named by “bussy” Jedidiah, i was just being stupid with my friends lol, hope this makes sense in context Godspeed 🫡👹
As a cis guy and someone in the Transformers fandom, I don’t know if it’s anecdotal and really even my place to say, but most of the people I see who make the TRANS-Formers joke ARE trans people, which means he straight up stole that joke from them and tried to use it negatively
I’m a trans guy who’s not in the transformer fandom and it’s most definitely a popular joke in the community lol
I’m upset with myself that I was shocked hasan didn’t know about Daisy’s Destruction
I think I watch too much true crime videos
Dude same😂
I’m sorry you know that. You don’t deserve to know that. I feel for gen z. Even if your parents were watching your internet, you guys had weird kids showing you on their phone.
Not everyone is interested in child rape…..
Kids can groom kids….it’s really not difficult to understand-oop, he realizes now 😂
What’s the point of having that many kids other than to form your own cult.
This is why I trust no one at chruch all of them have some sort of issues with this 🙃
Don't even wanna marry any one at chruch cause of those obivous reason.
You telling me I can't r*pe ma car? Brother, it's ma car, I do what I want. 🇺🇸
That car was a known slut in the area, always teasin' the men folk. It was asking for it.
Definitely best episode of Hoarders Buried Alive
insane that the first sentence hasan speaks this video is "squirt is piss" HELLO?!?
the infantilization of the mom really disturbs me. she’s always dressed in the same childish dresses as her daughters
Be me, clicking a Hassan reaction video expecting his nuanced takes on complicated topics.
First 5 minutes, "Squirt is piss."
"Oh yeah the cussy episode!"
You never know what you are gonna get lol
The bgm subtly sounds like a ringtone. I keep thinking its a phone ringing far away and its stressing me tf out lol
"Ur churning butter baby"
16:40 check out the “evolution is a lie” & “Bush Cheney” bumper stickers lmao
39:30 yo I absolute fucking DIED ☠️ I was in serious mode and didn't realize what he was talking about til he said it's not even bangs 🤣🤣
My mom always looked up to this family and it’s so insane… she’s a trump one the election Qanon conspiracy theorist now so that’s no surprise ig
I’m sorry, you deserve better
finally the northwest arkansas representation I needed
watching hasan react to the booklet I had to read to learn health was surreal
12 years wasn't long enough, people like this make it harder to argue against the death penalty
13:45 redscare callout lmao
duggars are trad Protestant
but also death to Catholics and dasha
This is how many families in 3rd world countries are. Older siblings being responsible for younger ones so parents can go work
I don't believe in corporal punishment but like cmon. For both him and for the parents. Allowing your son to molest your own daughters is like one of the most vile crimes anyone could even think of.
Right?? If you help cover up a crime… that’s a crime! He should have consequences for covering up such atrocities
I don’t blame the wife. She’s so brain washed. Coming from an evangelical background you’re almost encouraged to go for someone with Josh’s history because they had a “Jesus life changing grace mercy story” like “Omg God has done such a great work in his life” it’s like a brag
I said the same thing. Where is she supposed to go?
@@MrsPban exactly. She thinks exactly how she was brainwashed for 30 something years to think. She is a victim too. Even when told about the evidence she thinks that it’s not real or that he’s still being framed.
Y’all remember teen mom on tlc where it was like 16 and pregnant they were wild in the 90s-2000’s
He has a house from the tax benefits of 18 kids plus government assistance
I love how this starts with Hasan saying "squirt is piss" LMAO
Weird to hear locations I grew up at in this type of video 😢
Huh. Actual based Kelly moment when she looked at the Duggars like they were stupid af talking about trans = pedo and not their sweet innocent son. Rare Kelly W.
But you realize that they're just hoarders right? Except instead of 20 dogs they have 20 kids
she didn't remember the encounter that made him fall in "love at first sight" and the second date was when she was working under his mother. Red Flags galore.
Squirt is not 100% piss, but there is some piss in it
Why is it shocking that a sexually unhealthy and repressed family produced a person who explored those curiosities in small defenseless children - ???
While all of this is INSANE, the thing that stands out to me the most is that at 19:29 you can see that someone has made a Duggar Family wiki. Like, man, what are we doing in the Western world? No disrespect to wiki editors (the opposite actually, I really respect people who like organizing information), but it's just so bizarre.
the "duggars" sound wild lmao
54:30 that aged well lmao
I swear, the amount of faith you need to see the amount of hanous acts the "Perfect Christian Family" did and still be like: "It's fine, they're cured, surely they can't do that again" is insane
Someone tell him about fundie fridays pls
Yes.
he's watched one of her videos before but I forget which one
Maybe one of the girl defined vids
A bunch of the Duggar kids became druggies.
A symptom of overbreeding and tons of victims
Nothing surprising.
Watch BE THEE COMMENTATOR on YT for her extraordinary breakdown of the Duggars and the making of Josh specifically. Love J Aubrey too though, glad hasan is covering this :)
As an Arkansan, I'm sorry about our state lol I'm trying my best in a right wing hell hole.
Same.
Leave then. Go to san francisco and be with like minds.
@@hangglidingmontana6134 yea ok let me move to a city where rent for a one bedroom apartment is like 1200 dollars when I can barely feed myself right now in Arkansas .........sounds like a great thing I should do.
@@AaronHatcher awe cmon! Trust in the government to take care of you. Plus, the ppl there are just as delusional as you! You can cry victim TOGETHER.
The only cool places in Arkansas are Fayetteville (because it’s a college town) and Eureka Springs.
I used to work in reality TV and I found it incredibly disturbing. Granted I'm not sure if the Duggers fit in this case.
idk if hasan has looked at anything abt daisies destruction because it’s very dark and not fun to listen to but stephanie soo made a deep dive into the case for daisies destruction and it’s so sad
I can't help but imagine what the Muslim equivalent of the Duggars would be. I don't think we'd ever see that kind of reality TV. lol
Here’s a good open for a Seinfeld-esque observational comedy bit: What’s the deal with conservatives and sex crimes?
36:05 why I respect you Hasan. Always.
the parents implying that josh was just fooling around, meanwhile he was groping babies who were too young to even understand the words ‘violation’ or ‘molestation’
This is why Janna never got married and had kids, she was parentified at a young age.
There’s Christian fundamentalist are the same dudes the call everyone else pedos smh
Even the local Arkansas communities think the Duggars are messed up. That says a lot in itself. I love this beautiful state and nice people. We may be poor but we make it work.
This shit happened in my family too. My dad is a preacher who used IBLP practices.
In my mind this works like automation at some point kids are selfsufficient. If you have enough that are old they can take care of the young ones and when the old ones move out you got more ready.
love how ppl in chat are linking mrbeast stuff while he's busy covering this. People have no patience. Chill tf out
Volcano volcano volcano volcano volcano volcano volcano volcano volcano volcano volcano volcano
What does this mean?
Saw this video before, but now the name Hutchinson stood out and after checking, yes Tim Hutchinson is the brother of that weird presidential candidate Asa.
"dude learned how to use linux to look up cp" ahahhahahhahahah
I was making food and told my mom I was watching a video about the duggars. She then proceeded to explain why she thought that the parents just made some mistakes and they were just trying to hold out hope that their son would get better 🙃 when I told her about how this behavior continued past adolescence and that the parents kept defending him, she said that that doesn’t make them bad people they just wanted what was best for their kids 😀 and that the only reason they didn’t get actual help was because “the cult manipulated them” 😄(I’m doing so well with this information) I guess it makes sense now as to why my mother’s p@dophi/e brother still live with my grandma 🤪
The add break is why I only watch on RUclips.
bros name is jim bob :| bro actually an npc
Imma take some mushrooms before watching this and see where it takes me
“It’s ok if he is right with God”. Sir, if you didn’t take your son to the police and get all your kids counseling… YOU aren’t right with God.
Why do people believe in religion? Does it really boil down to the bible having an answer for what happens after death?
Sometimes people need answers, and sometimes they're too lazy to find them themselves.
@@smallguy2 and sometimes it’s all they know, being raised in it and never being exposed to other ideas
