Great that you have found Steven Wilson along with Porcupine Tree. He is one amazing song writer and producer going around. You will love Arriving Somewhere But Not Here. Now I would like to suggest the song from Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down. The song features 11 vocalists that you may recognize from other well renound bands. This song is pure fun as it features rock, metal, blues and progressive elements. Ayreon is a project lead by Arjen Anthony Lucassen who writes, composes, performs and produces his own music that features other guest vocalists and musicians.
Hand. Cannot. Erase. is the best album put out in the last 20 years. Check out Routine not just the song the video also. have tissues. that song live had me with a tear in my eye.
Oh you ARE gonna do Arriving Somewhere but Not Here! Missed that on my first watch, so glad you're diving deep into the PT/SW hole. Might wanna look into full album reactions in the future even- most of their albums are just so dang good it'd be a crime not to! Lots of love!
Just a little background on the album: it is a concept album based on the true story of a girl who was found dead on her apartment in London. She had been dead for three years and her tv and lights were on. No family noticed her missing. No friends. She had fallen off the earth and no one seemed to notice. She lived in a major city and no one noticed. She wasnt an old lady either she was young. She had Christmas presents next to her and apperently she was about to make an attempt to reconnect with society and family but died instead.
You gotta do _Routine_ , _The Raven that refused to sing_ , _Refuge_ and _Drive Home_ . Oh, and also _Heartattack in a Layby_ by Porcupine Tree. It's a gut-wrenchingly sad/beautiful song.
The whole album doesn't follow completely this style. You get different genres and elements throughout it, the most different one is Perfect Life. But all around it's a masterpiece.
Steven uses banjo brilliantly! He uses it perfectly in back when you were beautifal (his band no-man) and in porcupine tree song trains (and it reminds me of a train)
So cool!! I love Home Invasion; been listening to it since Hand Cannot Erase came out and been following PT since the early 90s. I’ve always wanted to go back and listen to my favorite albums for the first time again 😀
I totally love Kel's reaction after the song was complete. Steven Wilson is AMAZING, and you have you realize. Steven IS Porcupine Tree the he created songs all SOLO and he published them under a FAKE band Porcupine Tree. It was not till all his fans (hand raised) wanted live shows that he realized he needed to put together a band for live shows and recruited his friends to assist him in putting the band together, I can not find the orginal website that had all the fake band members but the backstory he wrote for the band was pretty awesome. In my opinion Steven Wilson is one of our GREATEST music composers of our time and I just love his composure's they truly leave you in a state of mental orgasm and like what the hell did I just listen to pure sonic anarchy of epic proportions . Steven Wilson i thank you, my synapse thank you, but mostly my soul thanks you for the lovely journey you music takes me on that allows me to cross dimensions into a beautiful, scary, chaotic, realm that you draw your inspiration from. Kel-n-Rich Thank you again for you first reaction to these songs. I remember my first time hearing them and watching you is like reliving them all over again, you're the best.
The album "Hand Cannot Erase" was written after Steven Wilson had read about a woman who had died alone in her apartment. What struck him most was that it was 2 years before anyone took notice. So the songs on HCE are not about that in particular but inspired by the notion of how absurd that someone can die and nobody care/notice for that long of time. Personal favorite from this album is "Perfect Life" . The song plus it's video are really really good.
This intro come as a thunderstorm just after the emotional ending of Routine... The first time I listened to the album, I just wasn't ready for it... I think i needed more time to digest Routine... that song is so damn heavy on the feelings... And this comes hard!
The most phenomenal thing about Steven Wilson is not any of his songs, its the breath and scope of his diversity as a composer / lyricist. So much inspired composition.
Just stumbled across your reactions. First, you guys together are great. It's fun not just to see/hear your reactions, but also to see how much you like being together. And it's always fun to see people discovering Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson. My suggestion - "Sleep Together" by Porcupine Tree, but it has to be a live version.
Instant fans, you've said it... should really buy the album and listen to the whole thing in one night with lights off together. A great, great great, great album!!!!!! (Hand cannot erase). I'm really thrilled to watch you react and having such fun and pleasure as I do listening to Steven Wilson. I've begun soon with him in 97 at a time he wasn't famous at all and going to Porcupine Tree concerts was a weird and lonely venue (Bataclan at that time). I fell in love with his music already. Since then, I've bought every album Steven Wilson was on (Porcupine Tree, No-Man, Blackfield, Steven Wilson....). I've been making promotion of him since that period around me and with the internet and RUclips, it became easier to introduce people like you to small "niche" artist, "very well kept secret of little fan group", or called what so ever. You'll understand why I'm SO pleased that your feelings about his music are shared on that scale with me. THANK YOU Kell and Rich. Love from Paris.
So.... good pick. Anything SW will at least be interesting if not brilliant. Try 3 Years Older, or Routine. Now , 2 bands you probably haven't heard of ... Riverside, and Katatonia. Riverside - "Second Life Syndrome" ,or " Escalator Shrine" Katatonia - "My Twin" or " Deliberation"
Hey guys, enjoying watching your reactions and love the fact that part of your USP is that you clearly adore each other. Super cute. I was lucky enough to see Steven Wilson at the Royal Albert hall two nights in a row last year (with my kids, which was super cool). There is a DVD of that show called Home Invasion (itunes, but the physical copy has the bonus stuff. Worth it!). As a filmmaker myself, with several concert films for Marillion under my belt (you should check Marillion out, for sure) I can say it is one of the finest concert DVDs I ever saw and musically it is ASTONISHING. React to it or don't, but WATCH it. Judging from your reactions so far you might never recover from the full three hour show. I kid you not, and look out for Ninet in the bonus material doing ROUTINE. She is an Israeli super star who you have never heard of but legit has one of the most amazing voices on the planet. And that song will CRUSH you. Keep on... DodgyCam
An other interesting is that the first song that appeared online from this record was Perfect Life.. and it pointed in a way that when I listened to the whole album , I was just mind blown!!!
I hope you guys see this! I would suggest as next: Luminol, Drive home and the holy drinker by Steven Wilson. First one of them is one of my all time favourite.
I have seen Steven Wilson on his last three tours and they are some of the greatest shows I have attended. Check out The Watchmaker, Deform To Form A Star, Ancestral and Luminol.
You really should try all the last three albums from Steven in solo... PURE GOLD! Routine (be careful... sad song) : ruclips.net/video/sh5mWzKlhQY/видео.html Pariah : ruclips.net/video/cNTaFArEObU/видео.html Ancestral : ruclips.net/video/Dgpbs_CuPFU/видео.html The raven that refuses to sing : ruclips.net/video/n8sLcvWG1M4/видео.html Refuge : ruclips.net/video/T0dLypToLzE/видео.html Perfect life : ruclips.net/video/Ea1Lzd9Z_oQ/видео.html
you should see the live version of this song. Highly recomended!! Than you should see the live version off Acestral of the Home Invasion concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.
i really loved watching you guys literally getting turned on by Steven Wilson"s music..it's some of the best PROG out there , check out his other many different projects ..
I saw him live at the Home Invasion tour when they play in the Royal Albert Hall in the UK they played also this song. It was pure magic. Another great song is Ancestral. A Warning is in place if you also react to that song Your hookt to Steven Wilson ruclips.net/video/qFwcahcDzP4/видео.html
Gavin Harrison is one of the greatest drummers out there right now. In my opinion there isn’t a better drummer when it comes to dynamics and musicality. His mastery of odd times is incredible. Huge influence!!No, Gavin Harrison is not a good drummer. He is anexcellent drummer and musician. Gavin has exceptional chops, outstanding groove and a musical ear second to none. He is simply outstanding Dont even get me started on steven Wilson my favourite musician i also think hes the best gutairist ive heard hes doesnt know alot but the amount he does and the emotion he brings to the gutair is amazing. I feel pt songs are more important and more memorable. His solo work feels to complex for my liking but st the same times its better than anthing on the radio ever haha
Anything on "Hand Cannot Erase" is beyond fantastic. Try "Perfect Life" for an extreme difference. Bet Kel Cries! Also Check out his "Raven That Refused To Sing" CD Track "Drive Home" and the title track.
Kel, don't worry about being explicit. The guitar solo at the end of Regret #9 is the orgasm. The banjo at the end is the lying there after, exhausted, thinking about the fantastic experience you just had. And to watch the actual Guthrie Govan solo ruclips.net/video/IaH2C2Qe97Y/видео.html Kel, watching you ouzes sex appeal whilst listening to my favourite bands
I know this is a reaction but talking throughout a maestro obliterating his six string in one of the best solos of all time was kind of annoying. Sue me. Just my opinion. 🤷♂️
Please react to. Dont hate me Steven Wilson (live versjon )A lot of pink floyd vibes in the slower sections. In fact the lead guitarist is David Killminster the lead guitarist touring with Roger Waters for decades.
Nice react dudes, you definitely have a sixth sense for good music. Please continue reacting to Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree songs. I recommend "Fear of a Blank Planet" by PT: ruclips.net/video/BZghBgdqUQc/видео.html

Please react to Routine (with the animated video), and Drive home :) two very emotional songs.
Quoted for truth!
UP !
They did drive home and it's awesome 🍃
I can't listen to Routine. It is too sad. Very well done, but I always skip it. Too sad.
The guitar solo at the end of Drive Home is incredible.

At least for me the guitar solo in Regret #9 is one of the best I have ever heard off one of my favourite albums from one of my favourite artists.
Moog solo and guitar solo together are the best solos ever
Lead guitar from the incomparable Guthrie Govan. A genius
I met him smoking a joint in front of a little kid with his dad getting an autograph in Montreal in 2013 on the raven tour. He is an amazing dude
the guitar solo is guthrie govan check their songs waves, fives and wonderful slippery thing
Just saw Guthrie with The Aristocrats last week. One of my all time favorite guitarists ever. He's a God!
Hand. Cannot. Erase. is the best album put out in the last 20 years. Check out Routine not just the song the video also. have tissues. that song live had me with a tear in my eye.

Oh, and also _Heartattack in a Layby_ by Porcupine Tree. It's a gut-wrenchingly sad/beautiful song.
Heartattack in a layby is insanely melancholic and cathartic
the version with orchestra ...is beautiful!
Steven wilson is God... Most creative God...
Love the video of Guthrie doing this solo and looking up at the end to say, "Was that o.k.?" - genius.
Reacting to the audio is the honest reaction. No disturbances from visual. Perfecto.
The whole album doesn't follow completely this style. You get different genres and elements throughout it, the most different one is Perfect Life. But all around it's a masterpiece.
Gotcha...I confused this album with Raven...I’ve been told ANYTHING from it is gold. Drive Home was requested. Gotta do that.
#cantwait
This is one of the best albums ever. Listen to the whole thing.
Steven uses banjo brilliantly! He uses it perfectly in back when you were beautifal (his band no-man) and in porcupine tree song trains (and it reminds me of a train)
Blackest eyes and trains are the first 2 songs on in absentia and that's the first 2 songs I ever heard. It's a good 1, 2 punch
I havn't found you doing "Open Car " yet! Same band! The first song I heard by them!
One of the greatest guitar solos of all time. That moog solo that precedes it is no slouch either.
So cool!! I love Home Invasion; been listening to it since Hand Cannot Erase came out and been following PT since the early 90s. I’ve always wanted to go back and listen to my favorite albums for the first time again 😀
your concentration when listening to the songs are simply impacting the Rock Rool couple.

You need to listen to Hand Cannot Erase in its entirety. Absolutely stunning.
I'm from Brazil and a big fan of both.
The synth part was a guitar synth by Guthrie Govan. No rehearsal, he got it in one take. The ride cymbal on that was perfect. And that was a banjo
Moog solo by Holtzman leads into the guitar solo. It’s epic as hell

I agree. Great song and album.

You should listen to Steven Wilson - Detonation. The last half of it is super funky, like Regret #9 :)

This one reminds me a bit of the early Delirium Label days. You ought to listen to Voyage 34.
Pleaseee react to "The raven that refuse to sing" from steven wilson.
