    Steven plays the bass and sings on this. The guitarist is Guthrie Govan and keyboard player Adam Holzman. Nick Beggs on chapman stick and Craig Blundell (EDIT: Marco Minnemann, not Blundell) on drums.
    Wilson is previosly known from Porcupine Tree which started as a solo project and grew into a band. Now Wilson has been on a solo career for several years and the band around has chanced a few times.
    Something new is coming up next year with a tour called The Future Bites.

He even helped Opeth produce some of their best sounding records. Also, he did a project with Mikael Åkerfeldt called Storm Corrosion which is slow, melancholic and quite beautiful.

    If you also liked the drums (in addition to Guthrie Govan's solo, which blew you away, as it blew all of us away, I think), you might enjoy the music of *The Aristocrats* (Guthrie Govan, Marco Minnemann, Bryan Beller). I think I enjoy them as much for Guthrie's sense of humour as anything else.

    Old prog not very technical? Where are you at lmao, old prog has jazz woven in to it, it has classical woven in to it, two of the most technical styles of music ever created, to take them two genres and blend them together is a technical miracle as it is, to then go and blend the result with rock, folk, pop and metal is just a creation of pure genius, to call such music less than technical is insulting, to say Symphony X and the likes is more technical is degrading to be honest.

    • @captainmorgan1978
      @captainmorgan1978  4 года назад +1

      it is not an opinion, it is a fact..sorry if that is degrading...throw pop music in there why don't you. I never said all old progressive was not technical...I said Yes and Genesis had a more MELODIC/less technical side of writing style...whereas bands like Meshuggah had less melodic/more technical side to their writing. So, you created a straw man that you tore down and didn't follow what I said. Second, just because something has jazz elements to it doesn't make it technical. Avant Garde Jazz is more technical than smooth jazz, for instance. Blues is more emotionally driven than jazz. This is just different styles of music and its purpose...trying to make them all equal or not separating technical from others forms of music is like saying men and women are equal in all ways.lol

    • @beijaflor9313
      @beijaflor9313 4 года назад

      That's just a bullshit reply.

    • @beijaflor9313
      @beijaflor9313 4 года назад +1

      How are YES et alia less technical? The Gates of Delerium just to start with, that alone is way far more technical than anything I have heard by Symphony X, Symphony X are more testicle than technical, they're a load of bollocks, I walked out of the gig laughing the last time I saw them, never done that at YES concerts, or any other concerts in fact.
      As for putting words in anothers mouth, why would you say that I said that you said that old prog "isn't technical"? I said you said "it is less technical", there is a difference! Saying something is not as technical is exactly the same as less technical, talk about tearing down self-created straw men.
      And no, it is definitely not fact, it is most definitely just opinion, your opinion to be precise, even what I say is opinion to someone else, but what is fact is that you seriously understate and under-value and probably under-appreciate just how technical old prog can be, there are many instances where it is not melodic at all but is very frenetic, a total onslaught of the aural senses like the previously mentioned Gates of Delerium for one, 20+ minutes with the last 3 or so minutes having melody.

      By the way, are you trying to say that men are inferior to women somehow? Equality between the sexes is not the best example to use lol, but since 99.9% of commenters on a proggy post are men you won't get too much earache from women.
