As a drummer, Gavin Harrison gave me renewed hope that with everything that has been done with drumming - and how it's turned more into an athletic event than actual drumming in recent years - that there are still newer avenues to be explored. And he's doing it. Harrison is actually what others think Mike Portnoy is but never was.
Well said.... Gavin Harrison is number one for me in all senses. Danny Carey of Tool comes very close but ig its more of your style and for me Gavin's melodic playing is more my style. God drummers but both.
Its incredible how millions of my cells mainly brain cells dance into the amazing PT melodies and riffs! I love PT and the classic SW songs! congrats for this video!!
Hey guys ,Porcupine Tree is one of my favorite bands Steven Wilson is a musical genius ! Routine needs to be heard and you have to watch the video with it . Very emotional song , lyrically , musically and visually
I recently saw the video and heard the song for the first time and it was an absolutely heartbreaking video. Brilliantly done, but my goodness. I’m glad I was alone when I saw it. I wept. And as a macho guy (note sarcasm!), I probably needed that release.
I can’t believe I came to the Porcupine Tree party to late and missed them. We can only hope Steven brings this amazing ensemble back together for a new project.
Okay. I've heard of Porcupine Tree before (mostly in association with Steven Wilson of the "remixes" fame) but somehow this is the first song by the band I've ever heard. Sweet Jesus, but this is freaking awesome! Thank you, Kel-n-Rich for the introduction! This song is especially poignant because I was a social worker for some time in the field of mental health, and I feel every word. Damn, the credit card is gonna take another hit...
This album and the one before it (In Absentia) are some of the best prog metal ever put out by a non-prog-metal band. Stephen Wilson, the lead singer/songwriter was doing work with Opeth at the time, and discovered he REALLY liked prog metal, and so his band kinda veered in that direction for a few albums and were absolutely amazing. Wilson's got a solo career with some great albums, too (The Raven who Refused to Sing, Hand Cannot Erase), and even prior to the metal phase, Porcupine Tree had some really good albums that basically do Radiohead but better (I'm a fan of Lightbulb Sun, for instance, which sounds VERY different from this) Wilson's also a big-time producer who's been working on remastering and rereleasing bands like Yes, and his mixes are pretty damn great. His real legacy may be as a producer, even though he's a good songwriter and performer in his own right. Songs to check out are "Trains," "Heartattack in a Layby," "Shesmovedon," "Mellotron Scratch," "Anesthetize," and if you want something from the mellower period where they were more atmospheric, "Buying New Soul" is such a beautiful piece of music, as is "Collapse the Light into Earth."
#painintheask Porcupine Tree - Hatesong (live from Arriving Somewhere), a great showcase for Gavin Harrison. Also: The whole album Fear of a Blank Planet would be great for a complete album reaction.
It was really funny that Kel shouts “I love it!” right after Steven sings “I’m through with pornography”. The entire album is mind blowing. Sleep together is so good.
Dolmen, "Alone Again," "Bracking the Chain!" or "Into the Fire!" Bryan S! from Triad NC area! God Bless! Never listened to them growing up, but my son Jr plays his 🎸 with their 🎶.
Only found your reaction videos this week but love how mch you love Porcupine Trèe and Steven Wilson. Hopefully Porcupine Tree will be one of your favourite bands now. And even though your compare PT to Tool, no compasison. PT best band of the past 20 years
Pop music is like fast food, consumed and quickly forgotten. Porcupine tree is like well crafted meal that offers many flavors in a single bite that lingers days and days after ingested.
This is one of my favorites off the album (its the first song on it)! Awesome pick! But PLEASE!......... #painintheask Porcupine Tree - Lazarus ... no need for video, the music is there to just feel. It would mean so much! :)
Another masterpiece from a masterpiece album (produced with Robert Fripp from King Crimson, which you should really try) You can check this one from Porcupine Tree's album "Signify" : ruclips.net/video/YdxDs15xYec/видео.html
HI! Shawn here... I agree they would have BEEN cool to see in person, but they had been dis-banded for the better of 10 years, maybe more? I think Deadwing was the last new one? Someone correct that if I'm wrong, I could look it up but me thinks that was right! Colin Edwin (Bass) made at least one solo record. I haven't heard his..? Uhm, you know Steven Wilson is a legend on his own with being both an artist and a producer-You should hear the re mastered Yes albums on vinyl he went from the original tapes and re done with today's computer power! Yeah sound really great! I think he re done a Dark Side Of The Moon on BR high res.? My friend has it again I THINK? Uhm Gavin Harrison (Drums) has done a few side projects and has his own gig now called "Pineapple thief"! Check them out-I like them... The other members I don't know of now? Someone can help me out here... Love you guys!
Hi you two, considering that the track was made in 2007. Yes - Porcupine Tree was incredibly talented. Have a look at POEM. The song "Fragments" here: ruclips.net/video/lQcrl6-Pd0s/видео.html. Maybe to progresieve. But really great. Would be great to see a react from both of you
#SKADOOSH UFO - Strangers in the Night full live album ... responsible for my journey into their stuff and that of Michael Schenker' s own stuff ... and the best parts of the Scorpions ... have fun ✌👍🏻

Love your reactions. It would be amazing if you could react to Shadow of the Hierophant by Steve Hackett (Genesis guitarist in the 70s). You should definitely watch a live version, it is beautiful, hypnotic, intense and powerful. 100% satisfaction guaranteed. This live version from 2016 is amazing: ruclips.net/video/D5sMNFg43oc/видео.html
Nope - another one that didn't work for me. Sorry. 😢 Please react to On A Storyteller's Night (Live) by Magnum - let's get some British pomp-rock up in this place! 😋 #painintheask

You are officially the first couple to make out to Porcupine Tree.
Hey guys ,Porcupine Tree is one of my favorite bands Steven Wilson is a musical genius ! Routine needs to be heard and you have to watch the video with it . Very emotional song , lyrically , musically and visually
Yeah, Routine is a tear-jerker, in this case I'd say on the same level as some parts of Scenes from a Memory, so be warned, Kel & Rich
I recently saw the video and heard the song for the first time and it was an absolutely heartbreaking video. Brilliantly done, but my goodness. I’m glad I was alone when I saw it. I wept. And as a macho guy (note sarcasm!), I probably needed that release.
I call this musicians music. Sometimes only musicians will get the significance of Steven Wilson and the great talent that surrounds him.
That’s true! This is Music bro!
I'm becoming a big Porcupine Tree fan!!! Miss you two and your reactions!! ❤️
I can’t believe I came to the Porcupine Tree party to late and missed them. We can only hope Steven brings this amazing ensemble back together for a new project.
