Yeah. I tell people and show people about Devin all the time. Some love it and some just can't comprehend it. Totally understandable. His music isn't for everyone. Its big boy music.
Devin puts an incredible amount of work into designing his soundscapes, but very little work into drawing the attention of the press. Perhaps this keeps him on a path of purism. As long as he is satisfied with his choices, who am I to question it. But yes, it is sad to say the least that so few have heard of him. I tried to get my friends to listen to him when Transcendence first came out, and many of them kind of dismissed it, saying it was not 'proper heavy metal'. Honestly, I needed better friends.
Wall of Sound!!!!! #Skadoosh #Painintheask Devin Townsend - Funeral/Bastard/Death of Music ( Live at Royal Albert Hall)!!!! This video helped my son and I through a difficult passing of a family member. It’s beautiful and so powerful. Give it a shot!!!!
don't listen to the haters, Kel-n-Rich! it's good to see a couple that love music and love each other. the haters are jealous of what you both have, never lose that magic!
Thanks for playing the vid! I knew it would blow you guys away! Devin has so many songs with the wall of sound (even his Strapping Young Lad stuff which you haven't reacted to yet) - maybe "In the Rainy Season" or "Detox" for starters. Either way, I know you're busy and I thank you for the video and your "honest" reactions to new music.
I just love EVERYTHING about you two! Seeing you two brings me so much joy! Thank you for being so authentic and allowing us to enjoy music with you! :* I am a huge fan of DT and I'm glad that you both enjoyed this song! Keep It Metal! \m/♥
Beautiful song on it's own.. the video adds an emotional element to it as well which just drives the point home like a dagger. For me, there are many instances of 'ASMR' reactions to the combo of the wall of sound in use here with the combination of his powerful vocals.. goosebumps on the backs of my arms all the way to the back of my scalp. When any song does that to me (especially on first listen) I know it is a great and powerful sonic experience. Peace
10 years? Try 3. What Devin has done with Empath this year is nothing short of astonishing. You guys should definitely check out more songs from that album, Spirits Will Collide is a great song, but it doesnt even touch the rest of the album in my opinion. Particularly "Why" and "Singularity"
I could go on and and on about how much I've listened to DTP these last four months. Universal Flame (live from the Retinal Circus) is definitely worth checking out. Off his new album coming out this week, Spirits Collide and Why?, which is like a Disney tune in the most unbelievable way, are jaw-dropping.
They will love pretty much the entire Epicloud and Transcendence albums. Also perfect timing he is coming out with his new album Empath this Friday. Check out the songs Evermore or Genesis. #skaboosh #painintheask
Love U guys, really, I have some issues to xpress myself in english but all your reactions are lovely. I have another suggestion for you. It's one of the last releases of Devin, from his yet "unborn" album "Empath". The song is "Genesis", and is the cause of what Devin has left The Devin Townsend Band to record an album alone. He wanted to express his feelings and thoughs in an album. You can enjoy it, be sure. It's an amazing crazyness.
Oh my gosh guys love you and love Devi but you can't go another moment without playong the ultimate #skadoosh #SKADOOSH #SKIDOOSH Moment from Devin....its #Devin Townsend -GRACE Live Retinal Circus absolutely amazing tear worthy #WallofSound
Hell yeah! Devins new album is coming out in a couple days! Also holy shit when I was a kid this lady at church made custom stones and gave them to me to sell for money how crazy
The reason I keep repeating my request for Porcupine Tree - Lazarus, is because, at least musically, the way that song feels seems to match how beautiful you two are when you are intimately bonding when reacting to music. It is something that makes each reaction really special. I hope that if/when you do react to that song, that it can be special for you two. :) #painintheask Porcupine Tree - Lazarus
@ Early Wall of Sound (1972) A Foot in Cold Water - Coming is Love from AFICW Second. The entire LP is Canada's Led Zeppelin. These guys are criminally underrated, and yes I've also seen this band live back in the day. Fabulous band live too. Their hit is Make Me Do Anything You Want which is another amazing song.
Enjoying your channel, Kel and Rich! I geek out over music and metal is my favourite too. That said, I'm really impressed you guys did Euzen - Metamorph! I love that tune... So, #PainInTheAsk for you... one for you and one for me: Ostura - Darker Shade of Black, some Lebanese Progressive Metal. Myrkur - Juniper, Folk Metal from Denmark. Keep rocking you guys, and never let the haters get you down. They just reaffirm that you're doing something right! - Ian
Check out Devin Townsend live Retinal circus song “Grace” or “Universal flame” live at royal Albert hall. Both songs tug at the soul. Great songs. Thanks guys.
Devin is opening for Avatar soon with an acoustic set. Seeing him in June. Looking forward to it =) Received his new album, Empath, 2 days ago and I think it is amazing. Can't wait to see some reviews on it.
Hi you two. Your reactions are so sweet. Thank you both. It is uplifting to have your shared joy of music creating connections & friendliness around the digiphere. Please check out the royal Albert hall dtp "death of music" regardless of whether you do it as a reaction vid or not, it is a high water mark of devyness. Love from van diemens land for your #skedoosh work. (I've probably misspelled that)
There no need for abuse. I've put it before the majority of the Metal Community are good people. We look out for each other whether you're black, white, green, yellow, etc. And we're one big happy rocking family.
Heavy Devy Fanclub Worldwide says THANX!....if you like it harder, check out STAPPING YOUNG LAD : DETOX ruclips.net/video/3f20L0msLsM/видео.html ...Devy right into your Face !....and Kel,WE know these feelings/experiences with Devy now for more than 20 years....lucky us ;)
Nice video like always, you are nice human beings just gotta get that out here haha :) And ofc im also a #painintheask and will ask you to do some more Wintersun, "Loneliness" is an amazing song. Take care!
Devin is a crazy dude on the brink between genius and madness... check out his new album empath, maybe Genesis as a first one, that will throw you on a loop.
That bridge in the middle of the song is supposed to be evocative of the works of another Canadian band, namely *RUSH* . Maybe you can check out some of their stuff sometime. Oh... and #skadoosh ? (Am I doing this right?)
Great reaction, Heavy Devy is one of my all time favorites. Would love for you two to check out the song "Blind and Frozen" by Beast in Black, "And The Druids Turned To Stone", the live version by Ayreon and "Yggdrasil" by Brothers of Metal. Hope to see them down the line and I'm loving the channel! #painintheask
Excellent reaction. Been watching you guys for a little while now and I really enjoy your chemistry and how much you get into the music. Here is a request if you'd welcome it :) #painintheask The Ocean "Devonian: Nascent"
before there was DTP wall of sound , there was white zombie wall of sound! Here is where I spent many a times lost in the wall. #SKADOOSH White Zombie- Blood, Milk And Sky
The "Wall Of Sound" was 'invented' by Mickie Most (a producer) in the very early seventies for a British band called Slade. Slade never got big in the USA but were one of the better live bands in their day and were extremely successful from 1970 to 1975 with more number one hits (11) in the British charts than the Beatles. Quiet Riot got recognition with Cum On Feel The Noize from Slade. The only thing that nowadays still pops-up on the radio from Slade is their 1973 hit "Merry X-Mas Everybody"...
Its really to bad Devin has parted ways with The Devin Townsend Project. I saw these guys live at Red Rocks in CO in 2017. Quite literally a spiritual experience.
Hi, Love you guyes! Seems that we likw the same kind of music. Looking for a reaction video to Noghtwish The Greatest Show on earth, (Live In Tampere, Finland) 2015. Guess I wil keep looking :-) Stay well, Love from Norway!
Material or namaste from Physicist. If that album had more low end it would've been super heavy. Too many requests for recent stuff. Go to albums pre 2006.
I love that you guys are doing some songs from upcoming albums. There's an album by Arch/Matheos coming out in May. You should do the new single that just came out today: Straight and Narrow: ruclips.net/video/NBnUR9wmmjQ/видео.html #painintheask
It’s not quite metal but give a listen to the casualty’s of cool album, it has devin townsend & Che Aimee Dorval . Very awesome but anything that Devi does is great in my book.
Hi Andy! We so appreciate you asking! richgafter@gmail.com. We can discuss by email. It means so much to have you spending time with us and helping all of this happen. We look forward to speaking with you and hearing from you more!
Devin Townsend Project - live at the Royal Albert Hall 2015 - Funeral, Bastard and Death of Music. Great trio of songs, very powerful
It's crazy that everyone hasn't heard this guy
Yeah. I tell people and show people about Devin all the time. Some love it and some just can't comprehend it. Totally understandable. His music isn't for everyone. Its big boy music.

Wasn't it Phil Spector ?
@@vodcc4463 Yep. Don't know what happened in my head there. I read an article concerning Most just recently, so, a big mind-fart on my part.
Kel looks like a Musical Cat, getting its chin scratched by a favorite composer.
EARGASM!!!!
Devin is Lord
Empath his new record was just released today! You guys would love it... It's his best work yet in my opinion :)
Devin did an incredible cover of Ween's 'Transdermal Celebration' which I recommend listening to.
