This video doesn't do this man any justice when compared to watching him live. The whole music hall gets filled with the sound of his playing. I watched him play live just once, back in 95 in Dubai. That was something!
I tried this with my suitcase at the airport.......They asked me to leave the country :(

I was browsing all different styles of my favorite music and artists and thus video came up. I have never heard of this man but after watching I was blown away. You sir are truly amazing,it brings me such a feeling of amazement to watch you make these beats almost effortlessly.

I had the pleasure to meet him through his friend Mano in New York at statue of Liberty" 100 year celebration in 1986. I even gave him a ride to meet the legend violinist kunnakudi (I believe)and some how my car window was broken cant remember the whole story . he became a big star afterwards.

Indian legend of drummers
The octobans and roto toms produces great acoustic exotic sounds.This is much better than electric drums.Playing on objects(chairs,suitcases etc......)helps to learn how to control the power of the hit or the angles of the sticks.This is why i don't like electric drums for beginners or even practicing, they give good sounds even when the sticks are badly positioned.Sivamani,is very talented.I like his playing.Why did the entire solo haven't been posted?

When he stopped playing the suitcase, I wanted to see him do one of two things:
1: Get up bow and walk off stage, thank you very much, who needs all that? - or -
2: Open the suitcase and pull out a smaller one, solo a bit and do it all again several times, finish with Sampsonite tarang...
