- Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! This is my 9th filmed project and my first attempt at an acorn box. I used the trial and error method for fitting the lid instead of using calipers since it was so important to get the fitment just right. Anyway, it turned out pretty well in the end, and I hope you enjoy the process!
I'm absolutely blown away by how many people have subscribed, commented, and liked! Thank you all very much! If you're not a subscriber, please consider becoming one! Also, consider liking and commenting, since that will help my channel grow!

Thank you!
It's an mental health, Mr. Rogers field trip for adults. Fantastic!
The maple burl is gorgeous and the acorn you created from it is just perfection. Lovely work.
There is something so calming about your videos.
The things you create are only meant to sit on a coffee table and draw one's gaze - and hold it. For hours. They are lovely. I could look at your creations till bedtime
Nice. The circular part in the middle is great after a couple bong hits. 🌬️
Top class woodturning, really enjoyed that thank you.
Beautiful art, music and video! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Great turn David. It's nice to see some good traditional tool work. Thanks V
Much appreciated, Mike! I'm still learning and making mistakes, but I really prefer the traditional tools as well. Cheers!
❤️Just love the project and how your videos make me feel. My most relaxing part of the day. Thank you
Me too, and I fail asleep on few times
Very inspiring, love the music. Although nothing beats the sound of turning burl
beautiful finish!
Beautiful Acorn Box David, great job turning it, thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much, Gary! Cheers!
I am a new subscriber and I like what I see. I have just retired and I am in the midst of building our retirement home. I have done lathe work in the past but have a lot to learn. Part of my retirement plans include a nice wood working shop. Thanks for great videos.
Thank you very much, Dave. Congratulations on your retirement! Good luck in your shop and woodturning adventures! Cheers!
Beautiful box and great job on the videography. Looking forward to more.
Mike! Thank you so much! Hopefully, I'll be able to be more consistent with my uploads soon. Life is crazy. Cheers!

Very nice acorn (akern). Great video production. Great choice of music. David, you never cease to amaze me! I just found this video by chance and I am glad I found it!!! Keep those wood shavings flying.

Chris! Thank you so much! Btw, Congrats on how well your channel has done! That's awesome!
Davi voltei a assistir seu vídeo.Seu trabalho me inspira.
Beautiful! And enjoy the video and piano music.
Thank you so much, David! Music in videos is somewhat of a gamble, but it's hard to create something appealing to everyone. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!
The acorn is so cute!! Beautiful craftsmanship, David--the proportions look just right. And it was fascinating to see you turn the unfinished base of the wood into a chuck--how clever!
Thank you very much! Friction is every woodturners best friend! Cheers!
It's called a jam chuck.
The figuring in the grain is amazing. I love how holographic it is. Well done sir.
Thank you, Haydn!
I agree and the choice of material is perfect. I would have never dared to set the wood on a different axis to get the most aesthetically pleasing view of the woods grain. I learn so much from these videos. My latest obsession.
Beautiful wood choice.
Really nice!!!!! beautiful Acorn Box!!
Thanks!
That turned out beautiful, David! Really nicely done. And the grain in that piece is striking.
Billy
Thank you, Billy! It wasn't the project I had planned, but it's something I have wanted to try for a while. Cheers!
Nice Job. Going to start one myself soon, hope it works out as good.
Cheers Bob! Happy turning!

Hartelijk bedankt! Het was een leuk experiment. Proost!
I wanted to let you know how inspiring your work is, I've lost track of how many of your projects I've watched and of course I'm a subscriber. Thank you David, it's the best wood turning series I've seen.
Thank you so much, John! 👍
I love these videos. I love how you find the best way to showcase the natural 2 of the grain even if it makes it more difficult. A fellow New Englander too.
Thank you so much! Cheers!

Merci...C'est parfait...
Gorgeous burl!
Thank you, Christi!
Hi everyone! This was not the planned project for this week, but an experiment with hackberry broke my parting tool (don't worry, I'm fine), which meant this video was delayed. I'll hopefully be able to finish that experiment soon! But for now, I hope you enjoy this! Let me know what you think! Thank you all so much!
Dude that looks cool, keep up the good work man. your channel is rising up quickly I know that your going to do great things!
Thank you very much, Mr. Chameleon! I hope so! Always learning and growing!
Very pretty. Great editing skills, also! -Mike
Thanks very much, Mike!
My friend, you are amazing. I just found you thru the proposal box vid and then watched this one. I feel a binge coming on lol! Your video making is scary good! Oh, did i mention, those turning skills "ain't" bad either.
Thank you for watching!
You killed it man! Nicely done
Thank you so much, Rick!
@@DavidAdamsen I have my lathe, but no tooling yet! This just makes me so much more excited. Keep sharing what you're doing, it's wonderful!
@@rickhickman2730 Well, I'm an example of the fact that you don't really need a ton of different tools to get started. Thank you and good luck in your projects!
@@DavidAdamsen that's been a tough thing for me - trying to figure out what turning tools I need to get started
@@rickhickman2730 I really only use three tools for most things. 1) You need a bowl gouge. A good bowl gouge with a grind that works for you will do practically everything you need to do. 2) A parting tool will help you save wood and make mortises and tenons. 3) A scraper will help remove tool marks from curves or "flat" surfaces. These are the big three, in my opinion. Another really helpful tool is a skew chisel, which helps smooth curves, refines mortises and tenons, and helps with detail work. In fact, I relied on a skew chisel for most detail work before I became comfortable with the spindle gouge.
Beautiful you need all the equipment to make these
Hello from a fellow Maine woodworker. I would like to say you do some very beautiful work. Maybe someday I could do a meet and greet session with you and see you work. Keep those great videos coming. JR WoodWorks in central Maine
Hello, John! Thank you so much! I don't have a ton of time to turn other than weekends occasionally and weekday evenings after work. With the amount of time required to make each video, I really only manage one project per week. It would be cool to meet someday though! Do you know of any woodworking/woodturning events in Maine?
Another Mainer, here. Started turning a couple years ago but only recently have had time to dig in. I look forward to seeing more videos and maybe one day I'll upload my own. Thanks for letting us watch!
Hey David, I was turning resin this week and the shaft on my round head carbide tip snapped, ouch that hurt 😭. I think I was trying to take too much resin off at a time. I know now Ha Ha. Fantastic job. Cheers, Sean
Oh wow, are you ok???? I've never heard of a carbide bit snapping from resin turning! Cheers!
I’ve chipped carbid on catches and steel spur centers, but resin is surprising. Maybe there was a micro fracture in the head from before. No idea. Hope things are well for you.
Art & Hugs that’s life. Yeah it hit my fat gut, so no harm 😂😂😂. My engineer friend said the same thing about the tiny crack.
Dude beautiful art work!
Thanks James!
Nice...!
Thanks Paul!
Perfect 👌👌🇺🇸
Thank you, Marilyn!
wow,your good.
Thanks Alfred!
Hi David..sorry for the late comment, but have been at a few shows and catching up on Xmas orders ha!... anyway once again David you amaze me with your skill , and technique for only turning in the short amount of time you told me last when we spoke. You did just a wonderful job on that acorn burl box!!! Very pretty and cute! Hope you got my email and we can stay in touch perhaps. Hope you have a great thanksgiving, and keep up the amazing work that you do!👍

Ha David that is beautiful I was wondering about the beeswax and orange oil is that something you made on your own and the walnut wax I've never seen one for sale ? do they sell that ?anyway great little piece! Thanks so much!
The beeswax and orange oil is a mixture sold as Howard FeednWax. The walnut oil is made by Mahoney.
Bajka piękne
Dzięki!
👏👏👏👏👏👍
Absolutely beautiful! Beeswax and Orange Oil. Is that your own concoction? Can you share your recipe, and which oil you use?
дерево красивое и красивая вещь получилось но надо подставку
Your using a bedan (what I know as bedan anyway) @ 1:16! get it rubbing flush and cutting with the corner tip, the finish will blow you away, sanding after it seems like violation!
Hey David, if you live in Maine why is your Etsy page set to euros instead of USD? That looks pretty sweet. How big and what's the species is the wood? What are you going to do about keeping the box upright?
Hi! That's interesting... I just verified my Etsy settings are at USD with the correct time zone. For this project, I used maple burl. I intentionally left no base on the acorn since the lid holds firmly enough in whatever position the acorn is in. So, no need to keep it upright.
I love this acorn! Did you sell it?
Beautiful work. I got caught up watching all of them! I'm in Portland Maine and do woodturning as well...perhaps we could turn together sometime!
Hi Alex! That's awesome! I'd love to see some of your work! Do you have a website?
@@DavidAdamsen it's still in the works. You can see some of my work on Instagram @turntwood
