I'm in my third year of college and what you said about bias to action is so true. I spent my majority of time in my first and second year thinking about which DS course should I learn from, where to practice problems from and whether to do web development or mobile development. Thanks for the amazing insight!

Hi Arpit , I am a frontend engineer with 1 year of experience . Should I focus on full stack development i.e learn backend development or should I focus on frontend only ? What would be career progression like depending on the choices ? .. I work in crypto exchange startup , learning alot .

Previously worked as Cloud Support (1yr trainee +6 month work exp), left that job as I want to work as a dev. Decent in DSA(4star Codechef/Specialist (max) codeforces/ Leetcode 1586 contest rating), having a personal project in MERN, but not getting any opportunity, sometime recruiter won't respond after knowing of my past exp. Any Suggestions?? Thank you.

What should be the main area of focus for junior developer(less than 2yrs)? Have seen people in my org with more than 7yrs of experience not contributing to design and just managing people for getting things done, is system design really important apart from interview preparation?

    Hi Arpit,
Firstly you justify the name "Asli" way more more than I can say. I had question around Design Patterns. Since I am a MERN stack guy which is more of a functional thing than OOPS, design pattern is not something which is used much in this stack unlike in the Java world. Also one might learn the various patterns but wont have real understanding until they actually use it in some live project when exactly needed which is hard to simulate. What resources/ways would you recommend for this.

    Hey Arpit!
Thanks for answering my question. I study in VJTI Mumbai and I have got an international offer from a US based company.
During the interview they asked me one question on Database Sharding and I was only able to answer because I had watched one of your videos where you explained it.
You are an excellent teacher and thanks for making all that content available for free!
Also I have sent you a connection request on LinkedIn 😅

    Hey Arpit,
I currently have 1.5 years of experience.
I work on tech stack HTML,CSS,JS,Angular,Node in my company.
I am super confused about -> should I strengthen above stack or start learning new technology ?
If I should strengthen above stack I cannot find a course/any structured way to go deep in above tech.
Can you please advise how should I go about it ?

for less than 2 YOE - enough to understand how deployment works and high level arch
for less than 5 YOE - enough to configure it on your own
for more than 5 YOE - everything about all common and important services offered including the tradeoffs.

I am under depression after watching this because of a few points made.
    1. It's a pyramid and his saying that "you would be thinking I am cynical to constantly have that fear". Sadly it's true. It paints a picture of spending more time with your computers than your loved ones/friends and acquaintances. This is directly proportional to all the health issues. Recalling your back pain, digestive issues and old Elon Musk picture with bald hair. Ok, next!
    2. Life in my 40s. Shit, the world ended at 35. How many managers do you see plus 35s in your start-ups? I don't know anything about MNCs. Guess that life will cut you short by all three PPPs if you are joining usual paying MNCs and not FAANG/MAANG if you choose to continue and make an adjustment. Believe me that pay is everything. No matter how good you are people will find a reason to reject. So please do not think it is a rectangle. Pay rises steeply during 20s and maybe early 30s. But there is a higher chance you will have to slash it later as you age. I am not near that age but salary adjusted interviews are quite common in startups.
So, should we think of tech only as a career just for money? Is locked in a room the life we want till we are 40s? Please note that the speaker is an exception to have that mental deviation and he's happy to do that. For the same reason, he is able to share his curiosity on YT channel apart from doing his work.
So, these are the questions for people who like what they do in engineering but at the same time, don't want to kill other areas/joys of life just for the fear of competition. "Life balance" might come to mind, but no, it's not TCS sort of lifestyle I am hinting at.
All this in a nutshell seems to be survival mode to me. Fuck that or embrace that seems to be a binary decision to make out of this conversation. Also, which happens to be reality of this era. No doubt about it.
Lastly, well spoken from heart and experience. I appreciate it but sadly for this brain boggling stuff, I cannot say I loved it. Shattered to be honest.
