Would love to see a similar series featuring J-beauty. Japanese skin care sadly gets overshadowed by K-beauty, but there are some top notch J-beauty products on the market. I stocked my suitcase full of J-beauty on my last trip to Japan. Westerners need to know about how great J-beauty is!

“Westerners need to know”… Bae, here in Brazil Korean products don’t even sell on physical shops (you can probably find in rly specific Asian shops)! We mostly buy skincare on pharmacies, and most of them usually have only brands from Brazil, Japan, France, USA and Germany! It’s been like this since I can remember… Bioré and Hada Labo are really popular in here among skincare consumers who don’t even know a lot about Asian products! 😂

Hi Kelly perhaps you could cover atopic skin eg eczema, severe dryness etc. Although I love K beauty for all the hydrating toners, essences and serums I find my severely dry, rosacea and eczema prone dry skin usually needs a really rich cream and those are easier to find in Western brands (current favourite is the Paula's choice ultra rich moisturiser). Best wishes.

I’ll be 60 this Summer. I love Pyungkang Yul, as does Dermatologist, Dr Dray. I also love 9 Wishes. If you want a moisturizer that is really effective even though it Isn’t a K brand, it’s Neutrogena Hydro Boost Body Gel Cream- Fragrance Free. According to Dr Dray, you can actually use that on your face, especially at night If you want. I use this at night right after my 9 Wishes Hydra Ampule Toner, which is viscus & very hydrating. In Winter I’ve been cleansing with Aveeno Calm & Restore Oat Cleanser. For an Occlusive Cream, Neutrogena makes a good one in a jar, but choose the fragrance free one, because anything with fragrance can cause an allergic reaction.

I’ve recently discovered that Azelaic acid has been THE KEY ingredient for solving my dehydration and skin barrier issues.
I’m not acne-prone, but I am congestion-prone (i.e. sebaceous filaments, blackheads) and PIH is an issue for me. When I have a good Azelaic acid in my routine, my skin feels so soft, like even after I wash it, it feels as though I still have moisturizer on. I am absolutely floored by what this single ingredient has done for healing my skin, as I’ve been into skincare/k-beauty for ~7 years.
Peach slices, Paula’s Choice, Drunk Elephant have all given me great results, though peach slices is my current choice for ethical reasons.
I didn’t get the same results with k-beauty alternatives in Cos de Baha and Nineless as I suspect they use derivatives of AA as they’re clear serums.

My hydrating regimen is Inkkey hyaloronic (its has a thicker viscosity), ordinary niacinamide, Timeless coenzyme(LOOVES this stuff. Its hydrating and a great antioxidant that helps with dark spots and uneven skin), Purito unscented centella serum (very hydrating. Penetrates deep into the skin. It starts the barrier care), Cosrx snail mucin ( It really seals the skin), Purito cica moisturizer (great barrier care), then Purito cica sunscreen. THis is my morning routine. This is the first time that my winter skin did not go through dehydration. Its glowing
My skin loooooves the ingredient centella. Hence the amount of Purito centella containing products I use (centella serum, centella moisturizer, and Cica sunscreen

My skin is very dehydrated, dry, and feels reactive to everything. I purchased Dokdo toner to give it a try, and for me, it doesn't feel hydrating enough. After Dokdo, I tried using Vegan Cambucha tea essence, and it feels like it's making my skin feel more dry and irritated. Every time I apply it , it stings a little. I laso tried to apply Pyunkang yul essence toner right after 5 layers of dokdo toner, and it also makes my skin feel more dehydrated than without applying this essence. After essences, I tried applying Numbuzin no 3 serum, and it's also makes me feel skin dry, tight, and uncomfortable. I am pretty lost because nothing works, and everything is just irritating my skin.
I the past I have tried Missha Artemisia first essence, then applied Cosrx Full fit propolis toner and several layers of Laneige cream skin refiner, then used Mary&May centella serum and thar helped my skin, but it still always somewhat felt a little bit tight underneath. This time, I thought I will try different products, and it all just turned out worse 😢

Watching this while trying to recover from damage caused by hyaluronic acid. Pls pls pls stay away from that ingredient if you have dry dehydrated skin. It will suck out all of the moisture from your skin even if you seal it in with an occlusive. You will be as scaly as an iguana and as dry as the sahara😩
Will have to look into these products more. I feel so frustrated and paranoid now. I try to be careful and do my research, but I think the rise of "trendy skincare" has made it more challenging to shop responsibly. Everyone pushes certain ingredients without including negative side effects. Basic skincare is exhausting at this point. I just want my skin to be healthy😭😭😭

The "secret" is finally out. Hyaluronic acid is NOT good for your skin. Dermatologists are finally talking about how It trains your skin to cut down on producing its own natural moisture. Unfortunately, it has become the new IT ingredient, people talk about it like it's the second coming of moisturizers, and it's in just about everything. I'm looking forward to the day when products are labeled as hyaluronic acid free..

Interesting what you said about 2% Niacinamide signaling your skin to create its own ceramides. Do you happen to have any cited research on this?

Better yet ,focus on skin for those of us over 60, even 70. One of the biggest problems is that most of the content creators themselves are between 28 and 40, and haven't got a clue about what we have to deal with. Those who are in their mid-50s to early 60s just aren't that knowledgeable about ingredients the way Kelly is and while they mean well, they just try stuff and if they like it then they talk about it. It's a good side hustle and a great way to get gifted products as well as make a bit of money to buy products. But it's not all that helpful.

I think selena thought the tiktok was about her so she started shading Hailey as retaliation. Maybe she realised how childish it was so left tiktok but decided she no longer wanted too. And Kylie's just there for attention.
