- It's taken me quite a few weeks to have the courage to publish this - I think there's a part of me that fears making a fool of himself, which I probably am, but I guess that's where courage comes in :-) You've got to experiment, no matter how weird & whacky your ideas are!
It's tricky writing, planning & filming by yourself, but I give it the best shot I can. I won't be around forever, and you have to give it a go while you can. I cringe being in my own videos, but being a 'billy no mates' I just have to get on with it :-)
Last week my mum gave me some of my old Primary School reports and it was really fascinating reading them. I was struck by how many times they mentioned I was a creative wee boy and, as a 50 year old risking it all in the creative industry, I regret that it's almost taken me a lifetime to get back there. It really is never too late to pursue the things you love.
The creative industry is changing. Artificial Intelligence will be able to create stunning films & videos, literally in seconds, with just the typing of a few words. There's a lot of amazing creative opportunities in this new technology, but it will make old dinosaurs like me irrelevant and possibly out of a job. I'm at peace with this - the next generation will adapt, just as they always do and we have to be positive, despite the fast-paced changes and challenges ahead.
Something I always remind myself is, that there's a lot of pleasure & reward in the actual making of creative things and, at my age, that's probably the best reward and the thing I value most - although I did manage to slip & fall, but no harm done (reminder to self to watch out for muddy patches!)

Experiments are what give us the ability to learn, grow and create. You are so right, it’s not a dress rehearsal, we get one shot at life so give it everything. Your creative talents are appreciated. @@DavidWheaterScotlandHi David, quick update. Am doing well, hopefully will get the all clear in the next few weeks. Feeling good for the first time for a long time. Have signed up to do a 15 mile walk in May and if that goes well will be heading north later in the year. So 2024 is looking good. Now all we need is some continuous sunshine and a few degrees warmer and this old man will be a happy bunny. C

Hi David, Outstanding video. Your creative talents always shine through in all the videos you do. You are truly blessed with abilities most of us don't possess and you certainly should be proud. No AI can replace the creative capacity of a human being. That capacity separates us from the machines. Life does move so fast and we need to cherish each day that we have. Thanks so much Mike - that's so nice of you and hugely appreciated. It can be a bit nerve-wracking putting yourself out there, so I really appreciate your very kind support & encouragement. It's tricky juggling all the shots and being in them at the same time - especially at night, but it's good fun trying. It's a lovely spot near my home and on the day I saw Buzzards, Roe Deer and even a Kingfisher - although I wasn't quick enough to film it. Well done David! It takes real courage to be vulnerable and put yourself out there like this. Also, I know how hard it is to film yourself without any help and you did a brilliant job with this.
