First of all, I love you Zarna and wish you continued success. In reality there are quite a few female comedians in India that are super cool and hilarious. Reminder to folks that are getting annoyed, her show is meant to be funny and not a true representation of Indian women or all immigrants for that matter…

I agree the comedy part - I am woman, 37yrs old, working, independent, mom of two & I laugh and speak loud…& see comedy in everything- when I grew up, in my school and home I was told a girl should not laugh or speak loud….thankfully my parents are forward minded and I grew up overcoming all societal stereotypes - thankful for my husband too who considers me a partner
even now in my in-laws place, men sit up on couch, women sit down - I was told to sit in kitchen & eat…we are backward and serious people as she said (but younger generation is changing…)

Wow so much hate as a I scroll down the comments 😂. Ppl, she is not making fun of Indians and India .. she is just making fun of stereotype that western world has for India. Also when she says about not knowing how to dance or not being Athletic she is just talking about Indian-American community there is hardly any representation from the community in Athletics and music in USA. Irrespective of that, let’s stop being so thin skinned. Comedy comes from extreme version of reality and that is how it becomes funny.

@@MrNaveen1111 Definitely but music is not something which has been prerogative to only the upper class or middle class of India. India always had a rich tradition of folk songs whether it is North, East, West or South India. Also she does not look like she is at all talking about the other India. She is just trying to gain browny points by demeaning Indians. And Bollywood dancing is "hopping"!
Someone please tell Madhuri Dixit that her dancing is just hopping!

All the hate comments on her are not warranted. After 16 years she is working again, that needs an applause, her kid is going to stanford, that needs an applause, she can carry herself all the way to amazon prime, netflix and CBS that needs an applause. Comedy allows for misrepresentation - she is not being vulgar, she is projecting what she has experienced or what she wants her american audience to hear. Its her job. Her very job is to laugh at her inlaws, husband, kids and herself. And she laughs at entire Indian culture so be it. We are living in a world where there President of the United States cannot remain standing for 10 mins without falling or even have the ability to speak properly for 5 mins. The fact she can stand up for hours and speak well is good enough. I don't agree with all her views but who am i to judge, she is catering to an audience who is not so picky and sensitive.

People in comment section before getting offended ,try think it logically. Stand up comedy is western concept which emerged in response to stringent laws where no questions were allowed. So its base is to make fun of everything and everyone.
Indian society due to 1000 yr continuous invasions became highly narrow minded . From having Women warriors, queens like Nayiki Devi , Rani Abaaka it went to women confined to homes due to safety issues of those centuries. Any society will take time to heal.
Indian society before 2000 was not balanced. But there was still many good things. Even now in many places women are required to follow strict rules. Older generation do have the sense that women needs to make more sacrifices than men even in urban sectors. Remember India is not homogeneous society. Its hugely diverse. Western regions who bore brunt of invasions are very suppressing. But regions where those invasions were minimal women and feminity was still celebrated . E.g in South India ,women getting first periods is celebration time. In many places e.g. near Kamakhya temple menstruation is considered good not bad. In Bengali , North eastern part also women have higher stand in society .
