Question: How do you export from Blender into Substance Painter and have it to where you can paint on a bunch of different parts at once. In your TextureSetList you have "Backplates-material, barrel-material" how do you do that? Is it just by default when you export the whole model together as an .FBX file into Substance?
iRageGGB you have to make each part have a separate material in blender itself; so go to the materials tab in blender, press the add material button and rename it to whatever you want. then when you export it as any format, it will carry the material information with it :)
bro your flipping awesome you have got some real talent, im not trying to force you but for us scrubs could you do tutorials because its something i want to get good at and you seem like your really confident in using the program plz man anyway love your videos man
thechipped toothgamer thanks :) I don't have much time to make videos but I'll try and do some sort of tips video or something. What kind of tutorial would you like because there are already plenty out there :D
well sorry if i thought of a hard one try to do like blender game asset tutorials or substance painter tutorials because thats what i want to be is a game asset maker or graphic designer but if not il just try to slow down your other videos and see what you did lol
or even maybe you do i live stream or something of you just making something random because then we would be able to see how long these things get made i would love that
Bloody hell only took 2 hours?? Nice work! Are you quite experienced with Blender and Substance Painter? Also love how you added the scratches at the bottom of the grip and the bits where the thumb should be, really well thought out!
I see you were trying to use a plane to boolean a cut into the barrels. It should work if you solidify your plane. I ran into that issue once and discovered it needs to have a solidifier modifier first.
Hello, your work is magnificent, also I try to put a lot into blender. I would want to know if I could obtain the video quickly normal so to understand better the manipulation of the software I would want to know in the substance painter if it was a question well Photoshop ?
But what is with the export? You have multipe materials for the different parts,I get that, but usually you put everything on one map, right? If I have an asset with multiple meshes (for example a tank with crates, wheels and stuff) will I have many many exported textures? This seems messy...
Alex YS Kim Thanks :) I watch Maya and 3ds max videos so I can do the same thing in blender, helps a lot. Seems the blender teachings aren't very good for learning correct 3d modelling.
Саня Санианов Thank you! I usually just take inspiration from other people's work (mainly Artstation.com) and then just see what I can do and if I can do it similarly.
are you doing uv mapping before exporting to substance painter or is substance painter handling the mapping for you? If you are doing it in blender could u please make a tutorial or at least a time lapse thx :)
plusRS most of the time i skip UV unwrapping sorry. all i do is apply the size of each part and then in edit mode i use the smart UV project tool to automatically unwrap each part.
Tereith All the textures were made with substance painter. I would have just tweaked the albedo colour until I thought it looked right. Not really a fantastic colour job - was done on a generic monitor (not very colour accurate) :)
Hi guys. One boy is making game and he have uploaded his game's gameplay demo and revealed the price, date, platform. His channels name is :- Dhone studios. Sjis
Cameron Edwards no worries, I just set the origin of the rotating objects to the centre of the joint using CTRL + Shift + Alt + C and with the vertices selected around the centre of where I want the rotation
This video is what got me into Blender. Fast forward 3 years, I'm watching this again I don't know what to say....
dude i dont know what it is about your blender videos but they are just so satisfying to watch. the quality is amazing
that was so awesome man keep up don't stop
thanks!
I think these guns were called street howitzers at least the authentic 10 gauge ones were but dang if a side by side shot gun Isn't intimidating
perfect modeling, perfect materials. i just really enjoyed this video, really inspired me ;)
that's some amazing detail here!

oh ok cool ill have to try it out a bit later. Thanks, and the shotgun looks pretty dope.
@@SamWarren thanks!!!
Good man. U showed me couple of helpful tips of modeling. I am following u. See more from u
I'm so glad this was recommended to me! Do you make any tutorials on modelling like this because this was awesome!
It looks stunning, i model in blender, and i dont know half the things you did, it is amazing
Wait, you knew any of the things he did? I dont even know how to add something in blender
can you make a tutorial?

I really enjoyed watching this - interesting stuff! 😄 Thanks for posting! 👍

like how to model out off your creativity and thanks for replying btw
thechipped toothgamer that would make a tricky tutorial but I'll take note of that 👍

Yij Thanks! I've been using blender for ages now so yeah I'm fairly familiar with it. :)
How did you get the ends of the barrel rounded, and awesome job.
good job! looks very nice! :)
I see you were trying to use a plane to boolean a cut into the barrels. It should work if you solidify your plane. I ran into that issue once and discovered it needs to have a solidifier modifier first.
I just used loop cuts in the end.
how did you make that vertex a circle
Pepsy ctrl shift b
I would like you to make more videos so it is very good
João Bennington thanks!

nice I learned manual bevel today
You are very excellent wow 👏👏
Hi. How do I make that slim trigger? And also how do you bend that handle? My handles are always straight because I don’t know how to bend them.
I really need to buy substance painter, great job!
Thanks, yeah, it's really useful. You can get the student version free.
also late but you can literally use a meme image as the student license. I used a photo of a banana that I modeled in blender
Best video
how you make the front part moving?
For some reason, this looks like something from a game for me...
Is this for a video game or for rendering. If for video game, then you have a lot of polys and materials for one gun. But good none the less
3D Art Master Rendering, I tend to use a different modelling technique for game models. :)
Ok. I just posted a speed model of a red dot sight if you want to check it out
Looks really good!

Nice...
Thanks for nice tutorial. Actually since I use MAYA, I only watch substance part.
Still, it is very helpful.
Alex YS Kim Thanks :) I watch Maya and 3ds max videos so I can do the same thing in blender, helps a lot. Seems the blender teachings aren't very good for learning correct 3d modelling.
I made it by my self u inspired me thanks ;D but on Q how do u make those semicricles 00:20
YuriOfficial ツ Sorry if it's a bit late - use CTRL + B and scroll with edges selected. :)
yea kinda 2 months but thx
What are you using to smooth the corners like that?
Ctrl B to bevel. Another option is the surface subdivision modifier that you can find in the modifiers tab
Subdivision surface modifier is good but if you dont want high poly counts bevel is also a good option
Can u pls say what music is playing here? it's so amazing like ur talent in 3d!
Li Shinji Jon Hopkins, not sure which song but they're all good.
Sam Warren, Thank you a lot! :)
This is awesome man, I just love your modelling style. Where/with using what did you study for such great models?
Саня Санианов Thank you! I usually just take inspiration from other people's work (mainly Artstation.com) and then just see what I can do and if I can do it similarly.
what is the shortcut for the curves? not the rounded edges, but the curve at 0:56?
What is Circle Operator? 1:45 . and how to use ?
Hey I'm noob at substance painter and can you tell me how to paint on smart materials?
Why do not I see any modeling with the same level of industry of games or movies in Blender?
Anaray Ramone More beginners have access to it because it is free. There are still plenty of amazing works done in Blender.
are you doing uv mapping before exporting to substance painter or is substance painter handling the mapping for you? If you are doing it in blender could u please make a tutorial or at least a time lapse thx :)
plusRS most of the time i skip UV unwrapping sorry. all i do is apply the size of each part and then in edit mode i use the smart UV project tool to automatically unwrap each part.
great stuff! how did you create the round thing in 1.40?
If you mean smoothed and rounded I think they added a Subdivision Surface.
is this weapon suitable for games? Or it have a lot of vertices for this?
What texture did you use to get that lovely color? It's so nice to look at?
Tereith All the textures were made with substance painter. I would have just tweaked the albedo colour until I thought it looked right. Not really a fantastic colour job - was done on a generic monitor (not very colour accurate) :)
Im struggling how to create those barrels both at once....
Mirror modifier
What version of Blender is this?
I didn't see the unwrapping process.. Did you skip that in the video, or magic? :D
I probably just smart unwrapped it in blender.
How did you get edge ware to work? I created a oil barrel and SP sees it all as an edge rather than the actual edges.
Bake the curve map first.
1:10 wait wha
I would love to print this. Would you consider selling or releasing the files?
method Substance Painter Export to Blender ?
thank you
I exported the model as a .dae file then imported that into substance painter?
You could do tutorials, i think a lot of people would watch that
I would like to but my workstation has been broken for the past year or so unfortunately :)
@@SamWarrenrelatable
How much could I pay for you to teach me this.
I bet developer (the guy that made granny) used this shotgun
Hi guys. One boy is making game and he have uploaded his game's gameplay demo and revealed the price, date, platform. His channels name is :- Dhone studios.
Sjis
Not sure if you're aware or not, but a youtuber by the name of Tutomator reuploaded this to their channel
Thank you, I have sent a copyright report :)
What is the software name of the program you use after you finished the model to create the textures???
Ok substance painter free
1:08 how is it possible to split the vert so easily?
2 vertex make one edge select 2 vertex or 1 edge and press ctrl b move your mouse forwad and backword
can you create a tutorial that isnt a speed modeling
0:48 How did you bend mesh just one side? I am using Shift + B or Ctrl + Shift + B but bending every side of the mesh please explain my friend :)
u select one vertices or edge and press Ctrl + B
What program did you used to texture this?
It's called Substance Painter
What is de second program
Substance Painter
what key to make those curves?
When beveling, use the middle mouse button to make cuts
how did u round that? Example 2:17
Gunner1906 TV CTRL + B and scroll. (bevel tool)
Thank you!
At 0:15 what is the shortcut?
press ctrl b
3:33 how did you do that?
I for insetta
Hey, how did you do the cut in at 0:16 ?
You select the cicrle and press E to extrude, then pres S to scale down and then press E and pull back to get a hole
5:13 what program is that?
substance painter
what did you do at 0:40
CTRL + B for bevel tool. Scroll for more cuts.
sorry for all the questions but im currently modeling a sawed off and i was wondering how you got it to pivot at around 3:40
Cameron Edwards no worries, I just set the origin of the rotating objects to the centre of the joint using CTRL + Shift + Alt + C and with the vertices selected around the centre of where I want the rotation
You're a lifesaver, oneeee more question though XD How did you get the one half to move together while still having them as separate parts?
I don't quite understand what you mean? What part of the video?
And I can't model a low-poly tree.
Trees are hard, man. Guns are simpler lmao
Second
no grids no metering.....
is substance painter free?
I want to avacodie If you're a student.
Sam Warren ok,also how did you get smooth hardsurface models like that? it doesn't look like sub surf
Make the model smooth shaded and then apply an edge split modifier to the model. This tells the smooth shading where to crease sharp edges. :)
Sam Warren ok thanks!
I thought smooth shading works automatically. How does edge split helps?
First
congrats
third
it's awful! the topology is strange, everywhere you can see the seams, put on icons with arrows on every detail ... why show this?
Why hate on someone's work man, everyone starts somewhere
Андрюха не заценил >:(
how did you do that 0:34
CounterPowerBG Ctrl + R and click over a loop
