hey man, love your content, am a new musician trying to upload on Distrokid but I don't know my way around the music copyright protection, any knowledge on how to obtain the music copy right license? thanks
Are the RUclips Music, Instagram, and Facebook options any different than typical profiles? For example, my music social media profiles have covers on them. Should these be the accounts I connect there, or do I need a special artist profile?
So, long story short, I uploaded my first ever album, however I did not like select a spotify account to upload it to specifically, as i didn't see an option for that? how will that work?
A very helpfull video. I've looked at Distrokid recently to add my own music and this is looking good. Was wondering though you wrote that you've used "spoken words from a movie" and named the movie, but doesn't that count as Copyrighted material (aka: you do not own ALL the materials in the track) or am i wrong? Just curious. Going to check out that info in the description cause you seem to have a few more interesting videos! :) cheers
Glad this was helpful! I'm not a lawyer, so this is not legal advice, but I did an interview with a lawyer about this subject on my channel (ruclips.net/video/boIOf_tcPZY/видео.html), and my understanding is that you can use samples from movies because it falls under the legal principle of "Transformative Use", and therefore, is fine to use in a song.
How did it went to set the release date one day after uploading your song to distrokid? Did everything worked correctly? Excellent video btw, thank you so much!
It was published the next day! I meant to do a video on that. Thanks for the reminder! My account does have priority status though, so that may have played a factor.
@@alonsoisaaac I’m not entirely sure. However, they game me priority status when they reached out to me to sponsor this video. Not sure if that’s the only way or not. Regardless, DistroKid has always been pretty fast at getting music onto platforms.

You do that separately with copyright.gov I believe. It’s not a distributor thing: www.copyright.gov/engage/musicians/

Nope! DistroKid will collect them for you even if you don’t have an account on these platforms.

@@OrpheusAudioAcademy ohhh, I get it! Thanks for your time, new sub 🤗
Can you explain how djs can get their mixes on Apple Music, and i do have a distrokid yearly subscription already
DistroKid distributes to Apple music as well, so just follow the steps in this video.
After signing up on distrokid, do i need to still pay extra to upload song on platforms ?
Nope
No, DistroKid distributes to all those platforms as part of your subscription.
How do you set up a apple artist account
It’s created automatically once your music is distributed to Apple. DistroKid let’s you claim it very easily.
How to release a song with slowed and reverb title without saying it’s a remix
