Hello! This is certainly super helpful, and I believe I'll very likely be using this in the future. I have a few questions! Say I release a track through DistroKid and then protect it with DistroLock. - Can I still upload that track to a personal RUclips channel or Sound Cloud? - Is there a way to give my own Twitch channel permission to play the track? Like if I wanna use it as an intro to a stream or during some gameplay in the background. - Is the upload to DistroLock separate to the DistroKid upload for release from your other video? Which one should I do first? Thank you so much for your time and for the amazing video! This is exactly what I was looking for!
I have uploaded 4 songs to DistroKid, and they are visible on RUclips and Spotify, but I am unable to apply for the artist-specific access. I see the message 'Start by uploading music to RUclips.' Does this mean I need to wait for some time before I can select the link with my name, or is there an issue? My songs are visible on Spotify and RUclips Music, but I cannot get the artist badge link
I recently got started with distrokid and the stats from all platforms are not showing up, only Spotify stats. However I have more RUclips views than Spotify, and they are not showing in stats. They also dont allow comments on my RUclips videos, and didnt put my name on the channel. Support is not responding, what gives?
So for stats, it can take streaming platforms 3 months to report to distributors. As for releasing your music on RUclips through a distributor, RUclips creates a “topic” channel. If you want, you can combine your topic channel with a channel you make so all of your content is on one channel.
@@OrpheusAudioAcademy I thought earnings reports take up to 3 months. I know there is a difference between earning reports and stats. Distrokid support says stats update in 24 hours directly on their page. I see what you are saying about the RUclips though.
simply go to RUclips music search for your artist name, once you find it click on the 3 dots then click share option and copy your channel id. that's it!
So Reagan, good video, this is all very good, I recently started trying to use Distrokid, but I'm having problems registering the form to pay American taxes when receiving the acquired royalties in my account, could you do a video helping with this part? About registering a bank account, that Tipalti bank, those American fees and such? This is a huge amount of bureaucracy for those who are not North American, as is my case, and ends up delaying our stages of the process significantly. If you could help on this point it would be amazing. Thanks and keep up the good work!

So I bought distrokid so I can upload videos of my cover songs in RUclips legally. I have the videos uploaded already on my RUclips channel and can't figure out what to do help??
What if I want to set an album release for a month from now but I want a single from this album to be released 3 weeks from now. How do I do it without loosing streams and without waiting until the single is released to only then have one week to pitch the full album?
Hi. Can someone help me I’ve uploaded a various artist album on DistroKid. At the time I didn’t do the artist mapping. Can I now it’s released go and do this ?
Hi, I got a question guys. I’m thinking about signing up to Distrokid with my friend and we would like to form a band. When we select the $20 plan where you got 1 artist, can you have two credit cards registered to the one account or not? Because we would like to get payments on eachothers credit card. - If yes, can you also select how many % of earnings each other gets from every song?
I'm not sure about that. I'm pretty sure you can only set up one billing method, so you might just have to figure out how to split payment manually amongst yourselves.
@@OrpheusAudioAcademy And what does the $40 plan means by 2 artists? Do I understand that I got like two accounts/artists names that I can switch between?
If I already have a RUclips page with the same music I want to upload to distro kid. Should I delete the page if I want them to upload music to RUclips so the music isn't on RUclips twice meaning it's on my current RUclips channel now and if I have distro kid upload it to RUclips then the music will be up there twice. Is that allowed or would I have to delete my channel
I guess it just depends on if you want to have multiple versions of the song on your page. Is the video you uploaded yourself different enough? Is it a lyric video or something like that? Because I wouldn’t delete that.
@OrpheusAudioAcademy No the songs wouldn't be different. The same songs I have on my RUclips channel are the same songs I want to upload to Distro Kid. The RUclips channel was just to test out how well the songs would do on RUclips so if I have to delete the channel in order to allow Distro kid to upload them to youtube then that's fine with me. Maybe the songs will do better through Distro kid then they did on my channel. All the songs are all AI created
Once distro kid distributes your song (to spotify for example) where does the song go? In a designated playlist based on genre or New releases? Or is it just simply put on spotify & the only way ppl can listen is if they search for your song??
It's put on your artist profile, so the only way people can find it is if they know you or your song. However, you can submit it to the Spotify editorial team before release and they may add it to one of their editorial playlists. Also, once you get followers, your new songs will show up in their Release Radar playlist.
DistroKid puts your music on all those platforms at once. So no, you don’t need to create separate accounts. Once your music is on those platforms, via DistroKid, you just need to login to those platforms if you want to manage your page.
Thanks for all this. Despite offering my music to fans through my own hand coded website for decades, doing this on a platform like Distrokid seems confusing and intimidating, and you've helped me understand a lot about what I need to prepare. I do have some questions though. For one thing, what if I had a dozen music styles whose genres were really "all over the map". In the past I've just called it all "alternative" or alternative rock. But there are also a few spiritual, and a few instrumental jazz, and one or too so slow and 'sappy", I'd expect to hear it on my Mom's tube AM table radio in 1960. Is it possible to enter separate genres for each song, and if not what is the best alternative. I also have a few more questions and I don't want to waste all your time here on youtube, but I'd gladly pay you a few $$ to consult offline. Any way to reach you?
Hey, sorry I missed your comment. I get so many here on RUclips some slip through the cracks. It sounds like you may want to upload music under two or more different "artists". I do this myself.
