    Went with my brother in 1977 to see spiderman in Croydon, and for some reason we had to watch this before the spidey film. I can tell you now, that a 9 year old and an 11 Year old boy were not particularly happy about this!! I lost my one and only, amazing brother tony 19 years ago. The film Sort of stuck with me. I had to look it up.

    I remember seeing the promos for this movie in 77. Never saw the movie then, but fell in love with Didi Conn's cuteness. I was 20 years old then. Flash forward to 2015. GET TV ran the movie and saw it for the first time, and now at 58 I'm still in love with Didi's off the scale cuteness. Yeah, movie was kinda sappy, but Didi portrayed her character well. I'm a rock/metal guy, but have to admit I like this song.

    • @CrystalClearNews

      Oh, yes, I loved those promos on TV too! Didi Conn used to be on Match Game a lot. Huh, the ads spoiled the bit where she said, "I can't marry you." huh, considering that you'd think she meant the song for the love interest guy. I have to see the film again. I saw it in theaters back then.

    Here's a rare opportunity. It's not right to judge how how good a song is until you hear it sung by a singer doing it full justice. That is what we have here, I think, and we can all decide whether or how much we like it because it could not be sung better. My verdict is the song was very good but Kvitka was special.

      I agree...the entire You Light Up My Life album is classic! My mom would play it on her turntable all the time while I was merely 4 or 5. So it's ingrained in me. Joe Brooks composed and produced most of it. Yeah he had sexual impulses that were inappropriate, but it was the 70s...when "free love and experimentation" reigned mostly guilt free and Aids free. No excuse...I believe most super talented and creative people suffer from social ineptitude and different of mental illness. RIP Joe..your music is timeless

  • @RickAiello
    @RickAiello 4 года назад +21

    I love this. Never seen it before. Her reaction when the strings start -- I know that feeling. I've sung with bands and orchestras and when you feel that energy coming from the instruments it's a HUGE RUSH. Didi portrays that feeling so beautifully here.
    This is also the first time I've heard Kasey Cisyk's version of "You Light Up My Life," and it's leaps and bounds better than Debby Boone's version. This version has raw emotion and so much more feeling. Debby's version sounds bland in comparison. It was, essentially, a copy of Kasey's version (I just learned the whole story behind that), so I'll let Boone slide in that she didn't have much control over what she could do with the song. But hearing other things she's done, she's not nearly as expressive a singer. I wish Kasey had a chance to build a career with her voice. It was truly lovely.

    • @ronnykmarshall
      @ronnykmarshall 2 года назад

      D Boone's version sounds like shit. She ripped Kasey off by re-recording this and releasing it. He putrid father ripped black artists in the 50's like Little Richard for re-recording his music with P Boone's bland white bread crap. Two vile musical sows, the Boone daughter and father.

      MOR music is pretty much gone from the radio nowadays. The only time I listen to the radio nowadays (unless I am in someone else's car) is when I listen to the NPR classical station for classical music or All Things Considered. RUclips Music gets a LOT of use in my home and I also have an extensive music collection, most of which I copied over to my computers. I have literally outlived my generation (I am almost 80) and because of this radio stations no longer cater to my interests. My father is still alive at 104 and he feels the same way.

    Kacey Cisyk was the singer and actress Didi Conn lip-synced the song. Kacey thought the film would and was a flop so she walked away from it after she recorded it. Debby Boone was then brought in by Mike Curb to sing it and kind of promote the film although recording it was for her debut as a solo singer away from her sister act.
    Boone went on to win the 1978 Grammy for Best New Artist and Joe Brooks won the Oscar That year for Best Motion Picture Song of the year
    Note: Boone’s version is more polished and engineered

    この歌、大好きです。
    ディディコンさんの演技素晴らしいです。
    キャシーさんの歌声も大好き❤️🎶
    指揮者の人、大柄だけど、繊細な指揮に好感をもちます。
    みんなに、この映画を見て欲しいです。💓

      +John Rogan That is Ukrainian Kasey Cisyk doing the singing!!!!!! Didi Conn could never sing this - she is an actress not a singer and Cisyk (known a Kacey or Kvitka (the flower)) was a professionally trained opera singer!!!!!!
