For the CLICKING / TICKING noise, you have to change one bucket tappet 👍
A good oil will help the ticking. Not a fan of Mobil 1 but used that in my last oil change and ticking is basically gone. Heard Motul will take it away too.
The ticking sound is most likely a fuel dampener I believe is what they call it. Seeing as Trevor has a newer engine I doubt it would be a lifter
I have Z1 test pipes, Z1 Ypipe and Z1 single to dual with stock de headers. I have to do a drive by video to see the difference.
I notice that on my Z I hear the ticker noise a bit louder when she has a bit of dirty oil. Once I change the oil it seems to stop but it's never as loud as yours. I would look at your oil level more often and check the injectors and plugs.
My 350z had the best sound, it had muffled delete and 3” cannons from the last y joint back, didn’t have that trumpet sound most 350s have, was loud but not too bad at low rpm was in Australia where we have noise exhaust laws. Looked good too having a 3” blaster on either side, bride seats, low, had the wheels from my picture, I miss it soo much drifting and racing up and down mountains everyday.
What exhaust did you have?
E.J.M _XO was just a custom muffler delete, everything else stock, sounded low an less trumpety..
Hey that Ticking noise is one of your spark plugs are loose! I had that noise as well. Thought it was lifters and/or a knock but, all it is a loose spark plug(s). Tighten them up!!
Love the video dude, sounds amazing! The Motordyne Art-pipes have a resonator on the side, meaning it won’t make it much quieter, it’ll just get rid of a lot of drone

I miss my tomei set up, just sold it 2 week ago and I'm already missing it. Had the Tomei Test pipes, Y pipe and Muffler on my 370Z . Daily driven for 7 months that was pure bliss.

@@Lustyfilmz The Y pipe cracked, and I got it replaced under warranty. Then the exhaust cracked, so I took it to a guy who Welds Titanium to fix, the a month later the test pipes cracked I fixed it and sold everything. The material is too thin.

What about trying stillen exhausts? To me they sound great and keep a natural engine sound too.

My old motor had lifter issues I just put Mobil 1 full synthetic and the more oil changes I did the better the lifters sounded
That ticking could be the timing tensioner...there is an inspection plate on the cover check that asap!!!
Agency power. Sounds pretty much the same and costs less. Also you don’t have those holes punched into the end of the tip.
tomei is way louder tho

My Z sounds like a trumpet too, mine has cat delete, and a fake muffler on it, but it’s basically just straight pipe, I bought it that way, I’m looking for a new one sooner or later 👌🏻

Mine ticks as well and i replaced coil packs and fuel injectors and it was fine it fixed it I took it to the guy who rebuilt my engine and looked at the lifters and it wasn’t them

I have a 08 g35s sedan 6spd! Vq35hr is a beast. Love my motor. I have a k&n cold air typhoon, Megan racing y-pipe, and muffler delete. Should I go with invidia test pipes, or pay more for bang with the art pipes!! What’s your view ?? After i want to get a tune

Not sure if it will work with a tomei but you could try an Electric Exhaust Downpipe Cutout E-Cut Out Valve to tone it down when you want

The tick could be a lifter bucket but its more likely your fuel damper/regulator. Thats really common with these. Theres a driver and passenger side fuel damper.

If the ticking noise goes away when you put in the clutch it’s just clutch chatter not lifter tick
Motordyne makes the best exhaust for the 350z imo. They make more dyno proven hp gains then any other exhaust. $1500
They cost more than that unless there on sale. $1,730 for full exhaust, before art pipes. It’s a $2300 setup for sure.

There's a new start-up called Thaitanium, you can find them on Facebook - I run the Z1 single personally, but if I went the titanium route, I'd definitely consider their exhaust parts. Higher grade titanium than Tomei, and it doesn't sit so low. And imo sounds better as well.

For sure! The Z1 is stainless steel, but that Thaitanium is.. well, titanium lol
But in all my clips, I'm running the Z1 single exit.
That ticking noise could be your timing chains sense mine had the same ticking noise also

Kinda have same issue, isr exhaust megan non resonates test pipes, loud as hell but louder is better😁 i drive really chill in my town so police work with me, i just give er in the backroads
John Gomez I have the isr single exit too but it was too quiet for me with the muffler box so I got it deleted and now my set up is perfect. I’m running a isr exhaust, megan racing y pipe, Berk resonated test pipes & DC sport headers.
Try a borla cat back. Not many people talk about borla on z's but it sounds great

Is a 350z a good first project car? I got 10 grand and can get a good one with lower mileage. What would be some other good first project cars for 10k besides the z?
Aslan Tate depends, WRX, Civic, 350z, even like a mustang or something of that nature would be good but it depends on what you’re looking to do.

Far from perfect, and single exits on a sleek car like a Z are ugly. Just my opinion of course but my HKS Hi-Power with a custom XY pipe and AAM test pipes sounds much better. Plus when you spit flames, 2 flames is better than 1.
