No kidding, what Limpeh's saying is 100% legit. I just came back from Gangnam today and I don't even want to go back there anymore. There's nothing to see as compared to places like Myeongdong (went yesterday so far my favourite place) and Hongdae. I'm staying at Wangsimni which is super convenient (North side lol) and just going to Gangnam today gave me 2nd thoughts already haha. But really, it's mostly office buildings and restaurants (that aren't very cheap anyway) in that area. Yes, there's the underground shopping place but I'm a guy so there was also not much for me there. I like Myeongdong the most because i feel like there are more shops than eateries. Places like Wangsimni (HYU), Anam (KU), and to a lesser extent Hongdae (Hongik) have more eateries than shops. So for shopping places, Myeongdong has a lot to offer.
Singaporean In Korea / America So glad I saw this video. Thanks! One question, so for those that like street food, what area do you recommend? After visiting Taiwan night markets I’m curious if Seoul has something similar. And if so.. what district? Thanks 🙏🏻
For anyone considering to visit Seoul - Don't think twice, it's one of the greatest and most amazing, vibrant, modern, safe, lively and interesting cities in the world. I visited all the areas mentioned here and definitely Hong-dae was my favorite. Myeong-dong is close second. Gangnam is like a corporate area. Itaewon is fun but I wouldn't recommend staying there because it doesn't feel as Korean as the other areas. Don't be fooled by people saying accommodation is expensive in Korea. It's such a clean country that even the very cheapest hotels and hostels in Seoul are very nice and very welcoming.
Wow thank you so much for doing this vdo...just found out this after hearing the good news of no more quarantine.. This is very informative, useful and practical information!!!!!
Thank you SO much for this valuable information. You will save people a lot of time, money and heartache by helping us avoid Gangnam. Besides, I have heard another RUclipsr who lives in Seoul state that clubs in Gangnam charge foreigners a lot of money to enter.Thank you again and I hope you and your family are well.Barbara🌸🌸🌸
For sight seeing, try Paju area. There is a book city and shopping centers too. You can see little different korea there. Little rural but very neat and clean. Lots of book publishing companies with fancy cafes. You can stay at Jijihyang hotel too.
My fave place to stay is hongdae. It is easier to travel from the airport to the airbnb apartment. Plus, it's bustling even at night. And there's a halal restaurant there too.
as a korean person, i agree with you for the most part. However, Gangnam is not even a shopping place. It's more like a gather-up place. for example, yo john lets meet at gangnam Alot of bars and restaurants there but they are not so good.
Juri Dowarah normally from June weather’s getting hotter at Aug, gonna be 32 degrees in average. And yes, we have 2 weeks that insanely heavy rains come
Can you give us a few 5 or 4 stars Hotel name in Myeongdong and Honda please. We Love Food and shopping and it's going to be our first time visiting Korea but we don't speak Korean.
Couldn’t agree more. I wish this vid was made earlier. We stayed in Gangnam (Airbnb) last year and I hated it! Place was filthy! I felt duped by their photo in their Airbnb ad. Luckily, we were 5 minutes walking distance away from Gangnam station so getting to major tourist attractions was easy. Needless to say, this time we’re staying north side of Han river as this vid recommends. In your next vid, can you mention how tourists can get INSTANT tax refund ( total bill under ₩200,000)at major department stores, major grocery chain stores, and some cosmetic chain stores?

Very informative video! Thanks a lot. We are planning to be there in August with my dad for about 8 days. My dad is on wheelchair and we'd like to know of some non touristy places that he can experience. Any suggestions?
I was gonna stay in Gangnam... because of Gangnam style until I came across your video!!! This is my 3rd, 4th, 5th time watching this video. We just book business class going from California to Tokyo first, then to SEOUL. Still deciding should we visit JEJU, BUSAN, then come to SEOUL? please give recommendations. We love Seafood! do you think it worth to go to JEJU for seafood or skip it and just go to Busan for 3 days? And I can't wait to try out the Korean Fried chicken that you recommand in your other video!

Thank you so much for your recommendation! I was planning to stay at Myeongdong and then I watched your video. I'm traveling with two kids, 4 and 7. Do you have any hotel recommendations for families?
I stayed in Gangnam (because of Gangnam Style), but it wasn't bad. Bigger hotels, cleaner, newer and cheaper prices. I got the unlimited train pass and most places were only 30 minutes away.
it wasn't bad but wasn't it better if you had stayed somewhere else more central where most attractions are within walking distance rather than 30 mins train ride away? (don't get me started on the peak hour train at gangnam station)
Dong Damen is not bad too I use to stay there when visiting Korea.. have you try the nasty devil fish? I would like to see you make a video of you eating it..
Wow! thank you for letting me know. I’m planning to go to Seoul because 1)to watch concert 2)to tour as well. Do you have any advise where is the best accommodation to stay? Thank you!
I’d agree on the Myeongdong area for first-time tourists, especially in recent years where the Koreans working there are trained to speak some mandarin and can help you around... The only times I’d wanna venture south of the river is to go Coex, or to visit Lotte World...
You are really helpful Mr! I might stay in Myeongdong! :) May i know where I can find street food? I want to binge eat and try all the street food in South Korea!
