Good to hear from you.
Gary
Absolutely delightful. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and commenting,
Gary
Very nice Gary, you have this angle cutting down.
Thank you Ronald! Yes I had years of making angles correct as a wood pattern maker so that helps for sure.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Well I reckon I could have a go at that Gary. Thanks, Stewart, south west Australia.
Thank you Stewart. Best of luck in the process. It is pretty easy.
Gary
Thank You Gary....OMG...( i am thinking "does Gary ever stop thinking, recline back, put your feet up & watch some mindless show on the tube?", HA) Gary your mind seems to always be in gear with zero idle hands. Wonderful thoughtful ideas coming from your shop and I use your enthusiasm to keep myself fired up to create things in my own shop. THANK YOU GARY!!!!! I am NOT as productive OR inventive as you are and in my minds eye you are always working on the top rung of that skillful ladder....
(but here I am still sitting)....until next time.....TM
Thanks so much Tuffy! So when I am sitting in front of the TV watching some mindless show I have my laptop in front of me sketching up one thing or the other. I have always had to keep my mind busy on one thing or the other.
The nice thing about angles it is endless how they can go together.
Off to the shop to make something that takes less thinking LOL.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Great Gary. I love it.
Thank you Garth and thanks for watching.
Gary

Wow Gary very nice. Now I'm starting to understand you. You play the angles. You have really opened my eyes with the things that can be done with preparing wood this way. Hopefully I can get the 3D box glued up tonight. Thank you for sharing.

Great project Gary! You are gifted to see the end product from the beginning!
Thanks so much Chris I appreciate your comment.
I remember the day many many years ago as an apprentice wood pattern maker looking at a drawing and seeing in my head what it was going to look like. That was a gift from God and it was a very special feeling.
Thanks for watching my friend,
Gary
Nice. I might try that with some paduk and maple.
Thanks Tim that would be a great combo.
Thanks for watching,
Gary

I love it. I agree the wipe on poly finish is a little nicer. I plan on trying inside out turning in the near future and your videos are a great inspiration. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much Ron and best of luck when you do try it. It does get a little addicting. After these I made 3 more for gifts.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
So many wonderful ideas, and so little time to turn! Thanks for the inspiration. Family members are all getting bowls, boxes and vases this Christmas, next year I see ornaments in their future. Great straightforward video!
Thank you John! these two will stay here but I made 4 more different types after these and 3 will be gifts.
thanks for watching,
Gary
I have done 4 sided and 2 sided. I guess it's time to try 6 sides. It obviously works very well. Thank you for the demonstration. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
If you were to do a 6 sided those same pieces will work for a 3 sided which I have done as well.
I am planning another 4 sided one that should be interesting.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
Fun project and will be added to inside out configurations I want to try. I am also a Minwax fan, my go to sealer/finish is their Tung oil finish. Thanks for sharing, cheers Gord
Thank you Gord. Years ago I finished a roll top desk using pure Tung oil. A few years ago I tried some Formby Tung oil.
I will check into the Minwax Tung oil.
Thanks for watching,
Gary

Gary
Once again, excellent. Can’t wait until I get home in April to try these.
Thank you Roger, best of luck when you get home. I know they are sure fun to do.
Gary
Gary I absolutely love the contrast between the light and dark wood. You Sir are very talented 👏
Thank you for sharing.
Merry Christmas ❄ 🎅 🎄
Thank you Tanya, I normally like Walnut and Maple together but the Maple would have been way too light in color.
I have some Birch but same problem. The Beech was almost perfect and I knew the WOP would get it close to what I wanted.
I appreciate your comments and thanks again for watching,
Gary
Beautiful! I love your work!
Thank you so much Vangie, happy you enjoy what I do.

Thanks so much! 😊
Exquisite results Gary!
Thanks so much Todd and thanks for watching.
Gary
That is fantastic, Gary. I understaffed the angles and geometry, but you explained it well.
My bandsaw and I got along very nicely today. I think I'm ready to try a few of your recent teachings.
Thank you Jay, even though the cut makes a 60 degree angle I learned to measure blade tilt which is 90 degrees off 90.
That is how all table saw scales measure.
Happy your bandsaw has been being nice to you and best of luck with what ever you try.
Gary
I gotta tell ya Gary, thats gotta be the nicest two inside out ornaments ive seen! REALLY good job! Makes me SO want to try one!
Thanks so much Dave, it sure was fun and not ever doing one like this makes me want to try more configurations.
I was very happy with how it turned out.
Take care,
Gary

Well Gary, I must have missed this video earlier. Glad I found it since it provides me more ideas for my smalls wood turning gifts for Christmas. Christmas ornaments, tiny bird houses, pill boxes and gnomes are on the menu of things to do.
Thanks John. I gave 3 out for Christmas last year. They were a big hit.

Bill
Thank you Bill, I did the lacquered one after and just wanted to see how it looked. I won't but I thought about sanding it off and using the poly.
Merry Christmas to you and you family as well.
Gary

I enjoy watching these videos Atchison time of year as it is time to prepare for those craft shows. These have been very popular with the hospital staff that took care of me in my hospitalizations. Long to seeing more of these this year.
Thank you Tim. I have been thinking it might be time for something like this myself.
Thanks for watching,
Gary
@ThePapa1947 I've been planning on making some of the 4 piece versions to sell at the farmers market this year among other things.
Beautiful!!! Imagine a nativity scene nested inside there!
Thank you and that would be fantastic. I might have to see if I can find a miniature one to do that.
Thanks for watching,
Gary

Good evening, Gary. I really like this video and project. The wooden ornament is perfect and I would agree with the wipe-on poly. Merry Christmas, Gary 🎄
Thank you Ray, for sure it is much darker than the lacquer and made a better contrast.
Merry Christmas!
Gary
Hey Gary (Papa) happy Christmas firstly, another great project and as always you took us in a step by step process of what was happening and why. I have been watching you for almost 3 years now and watched your channel grow to almost 30k, keep the video's coming. Who doesn't love Walnut and Beech, great contrast between the woods, thanks for sharing Papa
Thank you Jim and a Very Merry Christmas to you as well.
I am happy you enjoy this video and my others. It means a lot to hear that. I bought a lot of Beech because it works great for making carvings on my CNC. Have not used all that much for turnings but this piece worked out great. The other choice was Maple but I like the warmth that the Beech gave.
Thanks again for watching,
Gary
very nice work I am glad I got to see you making it
Thank you Chico and I am very happy you watched the video and enjoyed it.
