Gosling held on for years not getting into major IP. I feel like this is a huge win for Star Wars. Gosling is one of the most likable actors in show business and he isn’t afraid of taking risks. I also don’t mind major stars taking roles in the franchise. George set the precedent with Alec Guinness in A New Hope, who at the time in 1977 was already a respected actor and Academy Award winner who had appeared in some of films’ biggest movies before taking on Obi-Wan.
Yeah, I heard this, and I was like, "Hold up, when was Sean Levy even making a Star Wars movie, let alone having Ryan Gosling be in it?" I don't think I'd ever really say, "No," but I will say, "What?" I don't know, everything just seems to be a bit of an odd choice to me at this time. And this mention of this movie taking place at a different point in the timeline is nice and all, but I think we're really forgetting that the general audience has been confused as to when things take place in the past. Jumping back and forth between Sequels and Anthology movies, jumping around all over the place on Disney+, it is confusing because I had to clarify for my photography professor that Rogue One took place before A New Hope, not after The Force Awakens, and my dad was constantly forgetting that Skeleton Crew was a 9 ABY show and not immediately following The Acolyte set nearly 150 years earlier, or even thinking it was right after Order 66 because of Bad Batch. The upcoming movies are also going to be in this similar 9 ABY timeframe, 50 ABY, and 25,000 BBY, and now there's another movie slotted somewhere in there? We need to keep everyone on the same page, and while having that diversity in timeframes to tell different kinds of stories is great, we may need to make sure they're all being released with clarity as to when they're taking place, and having similarly placed stories released in succession for a decent period of time. The diehard fans can keep it straight, but the casual fans, the general audience, a decent chunk of what Disney's hoping to get money from on this is going to get confused. I never want Star Wars to strictly just move into a chronological order when it comes to stories, having them out of order is part of the fun that's been going since 1980 when it was revealed The Empire Strikes Back is the fifth chapter of the story despite being the second movie released, but it was always in chunks. 80s: it's the Original Trilogy timeframe, 90s: you have some sequel stories and even something inbetween to the Original Trilogy for the major headline stories with the Thrawn Trilogy and Shadows of the Empire and the like, 2000s: it's mostly the Prequels and Clone Wars, 2010s: it starts to get a bit messy halfway through, 2020s: and we're all over the place. For the more niche things like books, comics, and video games, you can probably get away with doing whatever you want, but for the movies and shows, even the animated ones, there needs to be a more of a consistent timeframe.
A part of me really does love this idea of seeing Gosling in a Star Wars movie, but the other half of me is also thinking that in a way, this is kind of a miscast to the universe because of the style of acting and comedy that Gosling is known for recently. As we know, Star Wars fans of late don’t like when comedy is put into this franchise so I’ll be curious to see if he plays it more straight and dramatic or if he does add a little levity to his performance.
Whoa, I thought that was almost a Dethklok reference… “You need your Knives? Check Rope? Check Dagger? Check Chains? Check Rocks? Check Laser Beams? Check Acid? Check Body Bag? Check”
I'll wait to see how it plays out BUT... ...depending on the actors, it's hard to get by on your suspension of disbelief when seeing them in Star Wars and I think Ryan might be one of them.
I mean, I thought the same thing when I heard Iron Man was gonna be in Oppenheimer, but I couldn't recognize him and didn't connect it til the very end. I think huge celebrities can be very good.
What Happened to casting Unknowns or Moderatley known actors in Star Wars as Leads I have mixed feelings on this I did Like Ryan Gosling in Blade Runner 2049 and The Fall Guy Recently.
I hope that of all the Star Wars movies that get shelved, this will be one. Shawn Levy is a hack. We don’t need a man with no vision who is just a hired hand to do the bidding of producers.
The movies i care about least are going into production 💀 This and Rogue Squadron. I wanted Rey movie, Heir to the Empire, and Dawn of the Jedi but those seem to be kinda stalled. Again.
dont know how i feel about astar wars movies these days special the mando and grogu movie wich to me sound like a freeking repeat of the clone wars movie the one where jappas son gets kidnapped and rescued by the jedi
His name is Jedi Ken. His job is Jedi.
Same 😂!!! And I’m so down.

"I'm just Jedi!" - Ryan Gosling probably
"Anywhere else I'll be a nine!"
I mean Jack Black was in Star Wars, and that was fun.
No it wasnt he is a hack but gosling could be good
Please be Dash Rendar, please be Dash Rendar, please be Dash Rendar…
I don't think Gosling has the shoulders to carry those pads
@@erikelliott8015that's where the CGI come in!
@@Hounlaiga I don't want an artificial swole Gosling 😭, just get an actor who's bigger.
Peak casting idea 😂
I'll believe it when I see a trailer. I didn't even know Shawn had been given a movie.
He’s been planning it for 2 years
even if we do get a trailer i wont belive the trailer
@ whatever
Wow, I didn't know they might literally cast me in Star Wars
I hope it pans out. I adore Mr. Gosling.
Your videos are always so interesting and informative! I look forward to new videos! ✨🍓
I’m honestly a bit excited about this!
Almost as excited as I am for Project Hail Mary!😂
It’s is funny now there have been many fan casts for him at marvel or DC roles but he chose Star Wars in the end.
he is probably a fan the right age and he probably hates cgi super hero crap like most people these days
“I’LL SEE YOU ALL ON THE SCARIF BEACH!!”
This would be dope
His Midichlorian count will be Kenough.
Qui Gon Jinn??? Ryan would be perfect for an origin story for Qui Gon
stop.
Honestly I see him as a smuggler type character
3:32 Is this poster available for purchase? I’m not going to celebrate, I just think it looks beautiful.
Ah yes, that up and comer Christopher Lee 😂

You guys are going to Japan? That's awesome
It’s a Jedi remake of The Nice Guys with Russell Crowe

If real this will be fun.
I didn't know about this film at all (or forgot).
I'm not upset about this he is a great actor.

Ryan Gosling to play Rusty The Hutt
I liked Fall guy to ❤, it was kinda liked the Barbie movie, but mostly without the part where he went dude bro 😂
Live action Jedi master Bob?
tbh I'm worried about Shawn Levy directing. there are very few directors I just can't get into, and he's one of them
I'll wait to see how it plays out BUT...

This is a surprise
Why are we talking about this and not the fact that marvel is doing comics set after return of the jedi
Gosling is doing mo cap as Jaxxon.
Obi-Wan-KENobi
Ryan Gosling is so hot right now!!! Like enough heat he could play a new character. Jude Law we will see you again hopefully

One actor I really want to see in Star Wars is Keanu Reeves. I do like Ryan Gosling though.
We've had Jude Law and he did an amazing job, so why not Ryan Gosling?
Well that would be a second Canadian in Star Wars (shout out Hayden Christensen, good Toronto boy)!!
🥰😍🥰😍🥰😍🥰
I'm gonna be in star wars???
The movies i care about least are going into production 💀 This and Rogue Squadron. I wanted Rey movie, Heir to the Empire, and Dawn of the Jedi but those seem to be kinda stalled. Again.
Star Wars musical could be good…
Hope it's not another Gosling emo-special!
dont know how i feel about astar wars movies these days special the mando and grogu movie wich to me sound like a freeking repeat of the clone wars movie the one where jappas son gets kidnapped and rescued by the jedi
If this is the way, I look forward to Ryan Gosling. SW can be anything (hint, hint to make a musical) and he's got range.
I really like Ryan Gosling but do not care for shawn levy's films at all
