Glad to be of help Rob. The main channel for drone information and tutorials is now ruclips.net/channel/UCqgU_7HlSvmgMdZXjx9-syw This channel is a little out of date, so check out the active channel. :)
I own the Otterbox but I remove it before flying and my phone overheats or it gives notice that it’s using maximum power and it will affect performance. I live in Vegas and if it’s 95 degrees out, it can only fly for 10-15 minutes. My phone has locked up several times. I’m using an iPhone 7 with all apps shutdown and accessories off. Basically, the hotter it is outside, the worse the performance. I finally bought the expensive controller to deal with the issue.
Its not the Otter box I use the Otter box and I take My phone every time and I got over heat today So Put Your phone in Do not Disturb and Low power mode and Bam it works still got warm and Screen dimmed after 8 minutes Thanks for Your video

Greg forgot to put up his other RUclips as well. ruclips.net/channel/UC3Pgq8HTvhFtWyxPRr569_A If you have any interest in running, you should check it out. If he's not doing drone stuff, video work, etc, he's out running!
Thanks for the tip. I’m using an 8+ in a thin Spigen case and it overheats in about 5 minutes of flight time with the Mavic Air 2. I’ll try it without the case. Temp in Phoenix right now 94f. I also have the phone charge option on from the controller. Curious if that contributes to the overheating. I’ll let you know what my results are.
My samsung galaxy s7 edge heat up but I'm using without any case. But temperature is high outside. Android phones start charging when connected to controller. I don't understand which reason is of this problem
Were you using screen record when ur phone "overheated"? My iphone 8plus/ios 13.3 turns down the screen brightness, to where i can barely see what's on the screen. I fly the DJI Fly App w/Mavic Mini. Wondering if holding a small reusable gel ice pack on back of phone while flying could prevent this?? TY for ur Video!
95 f now, 7 minute and 9 minute flights with hot phone, but no shut down. Too windy to continue. Thanks again for the tips.
