I live in Florida and same problem. Outside temperatures 95 and phone overheating during flight. Thanks for info!

I own the Otterbox but I remove it before flying and my phone overheats or it gives notice that it’s using maximum power and it will affect performance. I live in Vegas and if it’s 95 degrees out, it can only fly for 10-15 minutes. My phone has locked up several times. I’m using an iPhone 7 with all apps shutdown and accessories off. Basically, the hotter it is outside, the worse the performance. I finally bought the expensive controller to deal with the issue.

Thanks for the tip. I’m using an 8+ in a thin Spigen case and it overheats in about 5 minutes of flight time with the Mavic Air 2. I’ll try it without the case. Temp in Phoenix right now 94f. I also have the phone charge option on from the controller. Curious if that contributes to the overheating. I’ll let you know what my results are.

My samsung galaxy s7 edge heat up but I'm using without any case. But temperature is high outside. Android phones start charging when connected to controller. I don't understand which reason is of this problem

Were you using screen record when ur phone "overheated"? My iphone 8plus/ios 13.3 turns down the screen brightness, to where i can barely see what's on the screen. I fly the DJI Fly App w/Mavic Mini. Wondering if holding a small reusable gel ice pack on back of phone while flying could prevent this?? TY for ur Video!
