    I used to use my iPhone 12 when I first got my Mini2 but for the last 4 months have been using my Samsung Galaxy tab as its much better using a large screen than the phone and dont have this darkening screen problem thankfully.

      Lol glad you liked that “joke”? Haha. You’re smart for using the galaxy tablet. We’ve been wanting a bigger screen for a while so we may have to look into that Samsung. I’ve had android phones in the past and it was ok. Cool info brother. Thanks!!!

      @@WeretheRoberts My eye sight isn't great close up and having to put reading glasses on to see the iphone screen seemed risky so thought it was safer to have a bigger screen that was I dont need glasses and can keep an eye on the drone. the Samsung Galaxy tab 5e is just the right size. you just need a holder, after watching reviews I got the "PGYTECH Tablet Pad Holder Mount" and you also need a longer cable so I got a "LYONGTECH USB C to USB-C 11.8 Inch Nylon Braided Cable for DJI Mini 2".
      Im very happy with this setup, nice big screen so you can see your footage, well worth it

    • @WeretheRoberts
      @WeretheRoberts  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching and commenting, Casper. My phone still dims pretty much every flight. The ice packs do seem to help quite a bit but it’s just inconvenient sometimes lol. I’ve learned the dimming is mostly because of direct sunlight on the phone screen. For some reason the phone goes into protection mode and it’s almost impossible to see at times. I’ve learned to deal with it for the most part and mainly fly from sitting inside the vehicle now to avoid the sunlight. Fortunately being in the vehicle doesn’t seem to interfere with the signal either so it works out for the most part. Thanks again for watching and we hope this helps a little bit.

    Hi, thanks for the video and solution. My Mini 2 did exactly the same thing, but it was the hottest day ever in the UK.
    Actually my iPhone does this just as I'm sat in the garden with the sun out. I've found that when I put the found down, I have to put it in the shade. I've started using it in the controller without a case on too.

    • @WeretheRoberts
      @WeretheRoberts  3 года назад +1

      Awesome!!! Thanks for watching and for the comment! We know this isn't the perfect 100% solution, but what it's done for us is allow us a little extra time before the screen goes dark. I've been taking the phone out of the case and using the sunshade, too ever since and it's all working together really well to help keep the phone cooler... It definitely gets annoying, eh? lol Hopefully it'll start cooling down a bit and we can use the phone like it's supposed to be used in the near future... God bless and thanks again for watching!!! Haha. That’s hilarious, Gary. This did work for us for sure but an even better solution I try now is just to stay out of the direct sunlight. That seems to be the biggest culprit. Even in the shade the screen still dims sometimes so it’s not a perfect solution though.

The phone wasn’t nearly as warm and the screen stayed as bright as could be. Granted I wasn’t in full 100% sun at the time cause of clouds but that didn’t seem to matter before. • @WeretheRoberts
      @WeretheRoberts  3 года назад +1

      Haha, yea that really oughta be a concern and I didn't think of that. We've used them quite a bit now though and they don't seem to condensate too much. The Florida heat just sucks the cool right out of them.... lol Thanks for the heads up on that, brother... I'll make sure to try and keep the controller level as much as possible to keep the potential drips out of the cable port... They added the option to turn off auto charge back to the DJI Fly app and I've flown once since then with no overheating issues. I wasn't in direct sunlight so I'm not 100% convinced yet, but we plan on flying again Friday so hopefully that'll be the test that confirms we are good. We used to be able to drain all of our batteries and had no dimming problems so I'm really certain it's caused by the app somehow. How would everyone's iPhones suddenly develop an issue all at once? lol I'm not the smartest person in the room (and I'm alone which is weird) and even I can figure that out... haha God bless!!! Love you, too, man... Be safe and thanks again for the tip! Kevin

      @@WeretheRoberts Kevin and Kristi, around 57 seconds into the video you have all those comments popping up, which looks really cool😎. I just wanted to ask how you did that or what video editing software you are using to do that? Thanks Dave

    • @WeretheRoberts
      @WeretheRoberts  3 года назад +1

      Kristi here...I believe all editing software has this ability, no matter which one you're using. Those comment posts are all pictures that are stacked on a separate track. This section of our video is 14 tracks high, including the music track for the sound effect of the pop, kind of ridiculous but it works. I stacked the first one then four frames later started the next and so on, the last one I started at 11 frames later, it just sounded right to me. You can hear the delayed pop at the end for the last picture.
      *For each track line, video clip or picture you place, the one on top always becomes the primary one you see in the viewing window. Now up in the viewing window when that picture or clip is showing you can click on it and you should see little dots in the corners you can grab to stretch it or pull the corner down to shrink the picture. When shrinking the picture or clip you want you will see that the track from the line below shows underneath, (like us in the truck footage from track line one). I shrunk them all down one at a time and positioned them kind of randomly, you can place them anywhere you want. Then you can add your sound effects to the music track line and position them at the beginning of each picture or where you want. If you make a mistake like I always do just hit the back button. The back button controls the viewing window as well. We have other apps for music and sound effects because our editing program is limited in that area. Hopefully I explained this alright, I'm better at showing it. God Bless Kristi

    • @dk4drones
      @dk4drones 3 года назад

      @@WeretheRoberts Kristi, very good explanation thanks a lot. I was hoping there was a program out there where you wouldn't have to stack 14 or 15 videos but, I guess not. There are times on some of my videos I end up stacking 8 to 10 with vidoes, titles, effects and elements but, I've never used that many. FYI, I am using filmora X and now the new version 10.5.
      In my humble opinion, you're doing an awesome job! Thanks again, Happy 4th and God Bless You Both.

    • @WeretheRoberts
      @WeretheRoberts  3 года назад +1

      Filmora is what we use, I have a little trick too, I don't detach audio at all. The video clip that you want to detach audio from, just double click it go to compositing and slide the 100% bar to zero opacity, whatever is above that track if it's video you can mute. I don't get that accidental shift if it stays down in the music track line and no need to reattach. It just saves a little time. Kristi

    The iPhone 11 is notorious for going dark on the screen as the battery goes down. There should be a setting in the app to allow charging or not allow. IOS is the only one that gives you that option. Android automatically charges and that draws down the battery on your remote control faster. But that's dealing with the Mavic 2 Pro.

    • @WeretheRoberts
      @WeretheRoberts  3 года назад

      Well the DJI fly app also took away the option to turn charging for iPhones too now so it constantly charges just like androids. A few updates ago is when this happened and it’s been a nightmare ever since. Boo!!! Lol
