Alongside Doc Biggs his my favourite Appalachian banjo player and singer. I just need to set up a copper still to cook the mas. Greetings from the UK (England)
Had Roscoe's record in my collection many a year ago, A remarkable and unique musician, moved to create where he found himself. "High lonesome" it is. May be bluegrass, but certainly blues. Thanks.
Hey that tune sounds familiar 😁. That's why i love the folk music tradition. It's "roll your own" music. The way it should be, something we are sadly missing in the modern world. I especially love the Southern Appalachian tradition, it's so ancient and dark and melancholy sounding. It's not my heritage directly, but it still speaks to me.
Tunes: 00:00:00 Moonshiner 00:01:59 Old Smoky 00:05:44 Little Birdie 00:08:12 House in New Orleans 00:12:01 Trouble in Mind 00:14:20 The Wandering Boy 00:18:55 Hook and Line 00:20:50 Married Life Blues 00:22:41 Boat's Up the River 00:26:28 In the Pines 00:28:55 Married Life Blues 00:30:46 Omie Wise 00:35:20 Willow Tree 00:38:20 Fox Chase 00:39:45 Little Gray Mule 00:40:58 I'm a Free Little Bird 00:42:56 Little Bessie 00:53:03 Motherless Children 00:57:55 Darlin' Corey 01:01:35 Roll on Buddy 01:04:02 A Village Churchyard 01:11:10 Walk Around My Bedside
I prefer Doc Boggs style, i just can't get into the up tempo bluegrass sound. I like it okay, but it isn't the same as the old timey sound. Although this guy has great vocals.

I'm a Holcomb and he's my kin. I'm really glad his music lives on. He was a pioneer of a couple genres of music. R.I.P.
I have one of his albums in my very small collection and over the years I've gotten rid of a lot of them but never his and never will
This is awesome
