Holcomb is unbelievably powerful. He's the best white blues singer I've ever heard. Thank you for sharing this video, showing us how Holcomb played guitar.
This isn't really blues, but he is an excellent singer.
@@sharonelliott2366If this isn't the blues then idk what the blues is.
@@christophertodaro448 Blues-grass I'd say.
@@christophertodaro448This is an old English ballad that came over the ocean and evolved as it was passed around the Appalachian folk singers. It's a folk ballad.
@@sharonelliott2366 incorrect! And this is absolutely very bluesy . It’s really a modal piece.
This song touches my soul
Wow!
Practically blew me outta my chair!!!!!!!!
Terrific! If there's more, please share. I'm guessing this is from the early 1970s, but any info is appreciated. Roscoe was a very banjoistic guitarist. He's in open G, but with the bottom string (typically tuned down to D) tuned up to G, giving him a pair of droning bass Gs (6th & 5th strings) .
THERE'S MORE!! Coming soon!

do you have the full version of this video, because id love to hear the rest.
Awesome stuff. What's the story behind the video?
Is the full video available?
Does anybody know what kind of guitar he is playing?
Not exactly, but if you don't know he tunes it the same as his banjo. I think he had double drone strings at 6 and 5. Something like that.
Judging by the pickguard shape, truss rod cover and shape of the headstock and tuners, it looks like a Yamaha FG-150. Not sure why he's put some paper or something over the logo.
