@@SlapstickGenius23 Yeah, but it also makes the modern seasons look woefully dull and shallow in comparison. The whole storyline with Ash's mom being a former member of Team Rocket and dating Giovanni (and TBH I think they wanted to do a Star Wars twist with Giovanni being Ash's real dad) feels like something the original scriptwriter of the anime's first season wanted to do (he wrote a few Pokemon novels that included ideas he wasn't allowed to use on the show).

It's called MechaMew2, a robot Giovanni built that could learn all Pokémon moves. In the story of this, Giovanni made up the one-of-the-kind Diamond Badge to lure trainers to ensure it learns, and has Jessie and James capture Ash's Pikachu so MechaMew2 can learn Thundershock and Thunderbolt, two moves it needed to be perfect.
