Btw remember that Ushiwaka IS in that youth national team, Kageyama doesn't just stop playing for Karasuno because he has been selected.
Also just keep in mind that the coach at Shiratorizawa is a bitter asshole who sees potential ONLY on tall strong people. Just keep that in mind yk for future reference

Ushiwaka actually telling hinata and kageyama "i will beat you next time" its a huge sign of respect to both because he is graduating now and planing to go pro so next time he would meet both would have to be at pro level which means he believes they can make it there, pretty much the biggest complement he can give them

Here's some tidbits about this episode which usually gets missed:
    1. At 9:07 Tendou's "Farewell, my paradise," is quite heartbreaking, it encapsulates the emotional weight of his departure. Shiratorizawa wasn't just a team for Tendou; it was a haven where he could fully express himself and be recognized as a genius player. Before Shiratorizawa, he faced ostracization and bullying, but within this team, he found acceptance and belonging, making the loss more than just the end of a season for him, 12:07 which is probably the reason he's quitting volleyball after high school.
    2. Ange is right at 10:31, Washijo Sensei's approach wasn't cold; it reflected his coaching style and some tough love like a parent. He chose not to blame or console but made the "100 serves" comment, a better move than immediate sympathy after a tough loss. Which is why we even see some of the players smiling cause that's how Shiratorizawa's players were trained. (p.s. he recognizes their efforts and believes they performed well, or else as he said in previous ep, they would've had to run back to school instead of going on the bus.)
    3. 11:57 Tendo and Ushiwaka's friendship was unique. Tendo wasn't intimidated by Ushiwaka, and Ushiwaka didn't find Tendo creepy. Their bond revealed a more human side of them, a part they didn't share with anyone else.
    4. Ushijima, a great player guaranteed to go pro said "I'll defeat you next time" at 12:36. It isn't just a challenge; it's his acknowledgment that Hinata and Kageyama have the potential to reach professional levels and compete against him in the future.
    P.S. Additionally for the OVAs:
This OVAs are to determine the representatives for Tokyo. Most prefectures only get one representative (Karasuno for Miyagi prefecture) but since Tokyo is such a large prefecture, it actually gets two representatives. The two teams that make it to the finals, become the representatives of the Tokyo Prefecture for nationals. However, since Tokyo is also hosting the national tournament, it also gets a venue sponsor, meaning there are going to be three teams from Tokyo at the national tournament. This venue sponsor spot is what the losers of the semi-finals play for. Hope that makes sense!
Watching those reaction videos was my way of confirming that others felt the same emotions I did. I'm really looking forward to when you guys start uploading the Season 4!
    Much Love!❤

The Tsukki scene sometimes gets missread. You have to know that now Tsukki has awaken something within him. He now is "hooked on volleyball", and now hungers for more. So him thinking "I wanted to stop more balls" is not him feeling sad but rather wanting to keep playing and getting better. We have now a Tsukki that will give it 100%.

The amount of one-touches, the consistent timing of the 3-man block and opening up the path for Noya, the pressure he put on the setter, etc. Tsukki gave the team a way to fight against Ushijima by using Noya. Tsuki is without a doubt the MVP of the match. Even when he couldn't score points, he managed to get touches on the ball or reduce the attack space, “easing” the job of whoever would receive the ball, not to mention the pressure and stress exerted on the opposing team.
Tsuki made this match possible because if it was a match of one attack against another and left Noya exposed, Karasuno would be crushed.

They all were instrumentel in getting that last point, they all kept the ball in play, Hinata espescially though, him slowing down his tempo confused the heck out of schiratorizawa, but Kageyama did his part in being able to adjust to that. Hinata led, Kageyama followed, just like old Coach Ukai taught him.

"No matter what anyone else says, you are today's MVP" 🗣️ Coach Ukai said give Tsukki the episode's MVP!! I think this is actually the first time in the entire series so far that the word "MVP" was used by a character to refer to a player after his performance in a match. Without Tsukki having a breakthrough with his blocking and narrowing down the path of the ball, Karasuno wouldn't have gotten so many clean receives of Ushijima's spikes, including the last point. Kageyama had really good foresight though and Hinata would probably be seriously injured if Kageyama didn't switch places with him. But I still think Tsuki deserves another MVP for this season. And season 4 would be a Kageyama season anyway so I will give it to Tsukki 🤭

  • @presidentjesus5063

Something about Noya this season, take it from someone who has watched this show 4 times over.
If you focus on Noya, you can see how frustrated he looks when he can't get a receive or can't cover for em in this game. Finally, at that legendary moment, focus on his face because he does not take his eyes from the ball, err he seems so intent on it. That's him making up for his frustrations earlier in the game.

  • @KappaNearYou
    @KappaNearYou 7 месяцев назад +42

Tsukishima is MVP of the season for me with Ushiwaka a close second. Without Tsukki’s blocks the match would have ended really quickly. Noya wouldn’t have been able to save as much balls as he did without Tsukki funneling them to him through his blocks, Not to mention all the chances they got from his one touches. I think of it this way, if ushiwaka scored half the points for his team then tsukki prevented half (he kinda just shut everyone down aside from ushiwaka). Oh and also his observations and giving instructions to Hinata and the team!
Everyone did their part on the team but yeah, like what Iwaizumi said it was all only possible because of Tsukki’s blocks.

Hinata, Noya, and Suga are my absolute favorites.

  • @TrianaNero

The scene with Ushijima pushing down Hinata and Tsukishima is also one of the author's favorites, "because it's cool" lol - they apparently had a lot of doubts about it initially, having to fight against their own embarrassment, but they're glad they went for it in the end, and boy so am I. And the anime gave it a really nice touch, because in the manga, Hinata and Tsukishima aren't present in the visual where Karasuno's third-years push back up against Ushijima.
It's cool to see you appreciate the impact the training arc had on Karasuno's run in Miyagi's qualifiers - Haikyuu's all about narrative payoffs and long, careful setups, with the next season being a yet another huge testament to it, so I'm really excited to see you experience it.

    A thing about shiratorizawa's coach.
Apparently he did acknowledged his team and everyone in his team knows that too as he took back his punishment of them running back to their school and instead told them to "get on the bus". You can see it in their eyes at that moment.
And him still punishing them to do 100 serves is still in line with his character as he wants his people to be strong and rid of them from his weakness by putting them through harsh trials.

I think a "Play of the Game" segment could be a fun alternative if you guys actually end up wanting to phase out the MVP. It could be a Best/Most moving scene award. It could even apply to episodes without matches.
For example, Nishinoya's double receive from this season, Yamaguchi confronting Tsukishima in Season 2 or Shimizu revealing the "Fly" banner in Season 1 might all be considered "Play of the Game" for their respective episodes.
It might be interesting to see how many of them are actually in-game plays as opposed to off the court moments or dialogue

Tsukishima was the MVP of both Karasuno AND the match.
That block against Ushijima is what saved Karasuno and set them on the path of victory. Without Tsukki's constant blocks, him using his team mates as a means to add pressure to Shiratorizawa and his will to fight until the very end Karasuno wouldn't have made it as far as it did.
Ushijima is the embodiment of skill and passion, the stuff great athletes are made of.
But Tsukki deserves that MVP for being the watchful eye and tireless mind that managed to save the game for his team and stop the giant that was Ushijima. And to motivate his team to keep fighting.

I've rewatched this season a few times and that final rally even more. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes. PEAK. Your reactions this season were just as good. It really sucks that S4 was a serious drop in quality. The art style changes aren't bad but they clearly had a severely reduced budget. Too many instances of really wonky panels and still images. That being said, the final match still has some fantastic moments.

It will be poetic in my opinion

Ushiwaka going feral wanting to beat Kage and Hinata
The coach wanting simple strength and seeing someone totally different beat his model
Tsuki using his intellect to outmanoeuvre everyone and going completely unread
Hinata evolving into this stamina-instinct monster
The third years conviction to play and carry the team's core
The absolute mental willpower that is Tanaka
And the top tier family and friends support coming to this game DURING school and work hours
A completely iconic season and match. Bravo 🖤 🐦 👏

I think for the entire match, as much as I love Noya and his input for this game, I would still call Tsukki the MVP. Noya has reflexes and skills to get the recieves done, but Tsukki not only had the blocking, but also had strategies for this match, little by little getting into Shiratorizawa's head. Plus, him blocking Ushijima is just iconic. 🏐🖤🧡
Also as a big Noya supporter, I hope he is a favorite not only because of his insane recieves ⚡⚡⚡

You guys wanting the Shiratorizawa coach to compliment his players for playing a good game is interesting...because he actually did it in an extremely indirect way. In episode 7, the coach told his players "If you play a disappointing game, I'm gonna make all of you go back to school on foot" or something. So him saying "Once the awards ceremony is over, get on the bus" is him acknowledging that they didn't play a disappointing game which is roundabout way of acknowledging that they played well.

Carlie is right this time about Hinata. And this is not about male or female brain, LOL.
Hinata is super competitive so ofc he won't be happy that he is not in the same level yet as Kageyama. It's only normal that he is afraid to be left behind and not evolving as fast as he should. S4 is my fave bcs it shows how Hinata breaking all the rules and stereotype for short people LOL and show that he also could be a well rounded player.

  • @gurnoorsekhon6402

Tsukki all the way MVP for me. He has big brain plays for the entire match. He stopped ushiwaka's cross for the entire match so that he may become complacent and in the end, he took advantage of that complacency and blocked his straight. But goddamn Ushiwaka still adjusted.

  • @TimothyGod
    @TimothyGod 7 месяцев назад +5

21:37 I think tsukki not getting MVP this time is perfectly fair considering the show gives it to him so he gets a default MVP this episode. So that at least can free you up for an MVP you guys feel is more appropriate.
25:14 carlie has such a logical argument, its tough to argue with her lol. Kags is an athlete, he should take the opportunity, but ange is also right, this team means so much to him 😭

tsuki is no doubt the mvp. leading the blocks against the top ace in the country with both the correct timing and width even at the very end of the game is something some receivers tend to take for granted, because it really narrows down the spike course which allowed the ball to pretty much come to hinata's face, and for kageyama to receive that hit.
also when the middle blocker serves from the back he really should be swapping with the setter to play back left (position 5, basically where noya is positioned to receive ushijima's straights) and the setter should be back right (position 1, basically behind the opposite hitter whose job in the front row is to block and hit from the right). the outside hitter would be back middle (position 6) as it'd allow him to back attack more easily. this rotation is undoubtedly the weakest receiving rotation when facing off against a monster right sided hitter as the one tasked to stop a straight spike is the middle blocker instead of a libero and the one tasked to stop a cross shot is the setter.

when it comes to the mvp i think i lean more towards noya maybe? i think if we take noya out of the match, they would have been f***ed, he was the only one able to receive ushijima’s spikes, even if daichi also received some, noya was the one lifting most of them which i think was key to win, i feel like his contribution could go unnoticed in comparison with tsukki’s development this season but i think noya’s role may have been a bit more important, even if just a tiny bit asgajsgsj tuskki was so good too!! they are both my mvps 🥺
