    I bought mine when it first came out for 530. I didn't care because I was looking at this gun before it was available to the public. Wanted something that looked different and what it really attract me was the side serrations, I modified mine by changing frame to wolfgray with black backstrap, fiber optics sights(red front and green rear sights, recoil spring and competition firing spring(green from beretta website). Underrated gun but built like a tank, so i also bought centurion which can be converted to compact, love my guns, much better than g19.

    I'm buying 2 compact models tomorrow after watching this video. This gun was also recommended to my wife by a female state trooper who runs a concealed cary class specifically for women. Yes, there are other good options, but this seems to be a step above it's competitors in fit & finish. Thanks for your no nonsense video that answers all the questions anyone would have.

    I have owned and shot a G17 extensively since 1992. After many thousands of training, qualification and competitive rounds it was shot out and had to be replaced. After shooting a great number of other striker fired pistols I chose the APX Centurion; living in South Africa I am now in the waiting period for my license (since Jan 2022), should probably have it in July and can then pick up my new toy. Really looking forward to taking it home and not just shooting it on the range at the gun-store.

      It's a great gun for a great price but it has an absolutely horrible trigger. Mine tips the scales at almost 7#'s , even with the factory Beretta reduced power Striker spring (the green one) it only cut it down to 5.5 to 5.75 which is definitely unacceptable for a "competition" trigger. The factory trigger is acceptable but definitely fatiguing with longer range sessions and does nothing to help with the accuracy.

    • @buildyourarsenal
      @buildyourarsenal  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience with the APX! I'm pleased with the trigger - mine is right at 6lbs, which is decent for a duty pistol. I find the overall ergonomics, trigger reach, take up, travel, and reset to be pretty good for handguns in this category and it just works well for me. Are the better? Absolutely. Worse? Without a doubt. Mileage definitely varies with the user.

    • @v.german11b

      @@rockhead1731the pull weight is not what makes a bad trigger. It is the creep and grit on the trigger due to lack of detail polishing on the mechanism by the given gun manufacturer.
      A 7 lbs can be smooth like glass, making it excellent, whereas you may find 5 or 4 lbs pull weight triggers that are not smooth and, consequently, horrible.

    The APX Centurion is a sweet shooter with so much upside. I did, however, have a serious problem with mine after only 400 rounds: the frame cracked all the way from the slide stop over to the takedown lever. I didn't drop it or abuse it in any way. In fact, I didn't realize the crack was there until I went to clean it. I was extremely disappointed and considered contacting Beretta to repair the pistol. Someone told me that for around $50 I could order another frame from Beretta. This past week I did just that; I ordered one in OD 0:42 green. The new frame should arrive this coming week. I'm hoping for the best. 🤞If, however, I have any more problems with it, I'll most assuredly be sending it back to Beretta.

    FYI - you don't need to retract the slide in order to field strip the gun. Clear it, pull the trigger, push and rotate the leaver and the slide will pop out. The slide needs to be retracted only when you are using the striker deactivation button.

    • @buildyourarsenal
      @buildyourarsenal  2 года назад

      @Marek Fortuna Yes, if you absolutely force the take down lever from right to left, you can manage to rotate the take down lever. Typically when you meet resistance, just getting a hammer out isn't a good idea.
      Mine will barely do this. You are pressing the lever against the full pressure of the recoil spring assembly and front of the barrel lug. If the slide is retracted as the manual directs, it will rotate easily because space is created between the recoil spring assembly and the barrel lug.
      You will have the same problem if you retract the slide using the striker deactivation button, but then release it to rotate the take down lever. The slide is supposed to remain retracted to rotate the take down lever.

    • @Marus1233
      @Marus1233 2 года назад

      @@buildyourarsenal Well, maybe there was an upgrade at some point, but my works differently. If you try to push the button while the gun is out of battery, it is really stiff and you can hear that it is pressing against the recoil spring guide. Also, checked the manual and it clearly states that you should retract the slide, push the stiker release the button and then let the slide go fully forward and push the disassembly button / leaver. It works beautifully, no need for any excesive force. It makes sense in my opinion because when the gun is in battery, the recoil spring guide is resting on the cutout in the locking lugs, and as you are pulling the slide rearwards it catches the flat part of the disassembly leaver - you can see that the barrel moves freely in such situation. My pistol was made in italy in 2020.

      @Marek Fortuna "Also, checked the manual and it clearly states that you should retract the slide, push the stiker release the button and then let the slide go fully forward and push the disassembly button / leaver." Unless you have a different manual than the one Beretta has on their website, it doesn't say that. See page 26, (www.beretta.com/assets/12/29/APX_Manual_ENG_2016_05_031.pdf). It's not much different than a Glock which has to be retracted as well, expect there is a lever with the Beretta.
