So excited you had Red Rooms in your Top Ten. I had it in my #1 spot for 2024. Had been waiting for your thoughts on it as you never rated or reviewed but gave it a heart on LB. I'm still waiting to see The Brutalist, mixed reviews but being in your Top 10 has me excited about it again. 'How to make Million before Grandma Dies' was my #4 of 2024 and glad to see you giving it love.
Your list is my favourite from all the ones I've seen from 2024. I love the right love and appreaciation for I saw the tv Glow. Let's hope for another great year at the movies. Thank for your videos.
I've only just discovered your channel, a day ago, I'll never leave, you are awesome, damn you youtube algorithm, I needed this recommendation sooner, now I've got to catch up on your reviews, wish me luck.
Awesome video, you articulate your thoughts so well! I only watched 30 new releases last year lol but I agree there were so many great ones! I loved Monkey Man, Civil War, Dune part 2, Babygirl, furiousa, and Nosferatu! Oh and Trap was so good!! And it was great to see Hartnett in a leading role again
Great list, Sydney. I am definitely adding some of these movies to my watchlist. I hope 2024 was great for you, and I can not wait to see what 2025 has in store for you.
Cool list Sydney ❤I still gotta catch up from last year and one of my favorite film of last year was monkey man and dune part two. I’m seeing Den of thieves 2 on Sunday
Excellent list, Sydney! Still a few on here that I need to watch, but I appreciate your take and how you breakdown why you made those choices. Here’s to a solid year of film in 2025!🎉
Twins with our #1’s! ✨ Hope you have an amazing 2025, Sydney! It was great getting to see your continued growth in 2024, as well as meeting you in person. Wishing you the best always! ❤️
You should do top 10 Best Picture Winners! I think there’s a super interesting selection for a list like that cuz everyone feels different about the winners of that award
Fantastic list, Sydney! 2024 was a great year for film from action, animation and indie films. Awesome to see Monkey Man, Furiosa and Dune 2 are all awesome action movies. Love seeing you give attention to smaller indie and foreign films on your list. My Top 5 For Now but likely to change as I got to catch up: 1. Dune: Part Two 2. Nosferatu 3. The Wild Robot 4. Anora 5. A Real Pain
Hope more people catch Red Rooms - I saw that in the theater and it’s still stuck with me. Anora is my #1. I didn’t really connect with I Saw the TV Glow but always nice to hear other thoughts!
Great list! It feels very authentic and personal :) I feel the exact same way about Monkey Man I was wondering if I'd see Look Back, Ghostlight, or Love Lies Bleeding on here but it looks like they just barely didn't make the cut oh well
Sydney! Started following you on letterboxd last year because I really like your reviews and agree with most of them. Just found your channel, you speak so well! We share the same top 2. Cheers from Brazil. Subscribed.
No sing sing :( I have a lot of similar picks for my top ten (Furiosa, Anora, Dune, Trap, Monkeyman). It’s great to see you mention Better Man and the BikeRiders as they are underrated and have lingered in my mind since I’ve seen them.
I was able to see The Brutalist in 70mm this past weekend and I'm torn on it. I agree that the first half is perfect. I was so invested in everything and the cinematography, score, and acting are amazing (that opening scene when he's walking through the ship and we get the shot of the Statue of Liberty is amazing), but I think it completely derails in the second half. I dont think the ending was satisfying at all and felt the epilogue was unneeded. Maybe I'll revisit it someday and have a different opinion
Great list overall, my top 10 currently is… 1. Memoir of a Snail 2. Anora 3. Challengers 4. Dune Part 2 5. The Substance 6. I Saw the TV Glow 7. The Seed of the Sacred Fig 8. Look Back 9. Nosferatu 10. National Anthem With honorable mentions to Furiosa, Kill, Queer, Flow, and The Last Stop in Yuma County. Planning to see The Brutalist and Nickel Boys this weekend and that’ll probably change it up a bit. Excited for the year of movies 2025 will bring.
My favorite from this year that not enough people have seen is River. Japanese time-loop comedy from the same team as Beyond the Infinite 2 Minutes. It's adorable, hilarious, and somehow flies by without the 2-minute loop gimmick ever growing old. And then Challengers is my actual #1. Great list!
My top 5 films of 2024 at this point are The Substance, A Different Man, Challengers, The First Omen, and Kinds of Kindness! My most anticipated for 2025 has to be GDT's Frankenstein. I'm seeing The Brutalist in IMAX today and hopefully catching up on some others I missed in the next few weeks!
Haven’t got to see a lot of releases beacause of real ease dates are so late here in Ireland. But nothing has hit me more then furiosa. Transcending. Shoutout kneecap too putting us on the map
Me watching until number two: Wait, is not The Substance here ? Me watching the number one: ok, it isn't here but you cook. Man I saw the tv glow is enchanting
You articulate everything so amazingly and succinctly, fell in love with your channel when i checked out your Queer Review, you have an incredibly interesting perspective on films and its always a joy too hear your thoughts on films in general, keep up the fantastic work🫡
I always like to see lists with obscure picks that aren't on any other lists. Never heard of Exhibiting Forgiveness or How to make millions before grandma dies, but I'll look into those. Very happy to see Red Rooms make your list. It's kind of like French Canada's answer to Anatomy of a Fall and I thought Juliette Gariépy gave the performance of the year. To me, it was the most complicated, subtle performance and truly the most intriguing character of any movie this year. Anyways, you asked us to post our lists, so here's mine: 10. Challengers 9. Monkey Man 8. Thelma 7. Suze 6. Red Rooms 5. Oddity 4. Tuesday 3. Better Man 2. The Substance 1. Origin
So glad you remembered Monkey man, one of my favorite movies ever just based on how it showcases the issues that are shown within India's underclass but also the hope and beautiful world they have as well.
I would almost go as far to say this has been the best year for film that I’ve been alive for, the ratio of good:not good was excellent. Loved your list, here’s my top 5: 1. Trap 2. Challengers 3. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga 4. Kneecap 5. The Brutalist

We have very similar lists! I also pulled a buzzer beater with Evil Does Not Exist before making my Best Of 2024 video too, same with Red Rooms.
Thought our top3 was about to match for a sec. But I had Nosferatu at 1. Good vid!

Reggie with a generational character arc 😌! Looking forward to what's in store Syd for 2025!!!
Surprised Sonic 3 didn't make an appearance in the Top 20. J/K. Loved the video analysis as always.
Haven’t got to see a lot of releases beacause of real ease dates are so late here in Ireland. But nothing has hit me more then furiosa. Transcending. Shoutout kneecap too putting us on the map
