How dare a woman attempt to sing this song!! And sing it in such a sublime manner!!! The best female singer Australia has ever produced...an d let slip through our hands!! Perfect phrasing, perfect tempo, perfect pitch!! A beautiful woman. How I miss her!!
Rene is still going she has concerts coming up in 22 and 23 - and you are right she is the best Australian female singer - helen redy was great too but rene has soul
Yes, truly one of Australia’s greatest female singers. I never like to use the term “best” when it comes to the arts, after all it is a subjective opinion. Right up there with Renee is Kate Ceberano. Listening and watching her sing “everything’s alright” with John Farnham and Jon Stevens she is just incredible. World world class and just atunningly beautiful. Add to these two voices the Bull sisters. And let’s not forget, Dame Joan Sutherland, Judith Durham and Deborah Conway.
Yes I remember Renee went to the states in the 70’s because a lot of people in the industry here didn’t know how to deal with her amazing talent, she worked as a session musician in the states. James Brown would be proud, perfect version of this song.
I'm very teary eyed having a Reneeathon, playing her gorgeous voice, after learning she passed away today. Saw her many times in the 70s. Totally under-appreciated in Oz. 💔
I’ve had a few Renee-a-thons last few weeks since she died. 54 y/o Melbourne person. I grew up knowing her greatness. I can’t quite believe she’s gone. She was the shit. All day and all night. Just pure greatness.
@@trapezoidspangle934 Yeah she was, I was 12 when I bought my first album and it was hers, Stares & whispers , 57yr old Melbourne fella, had a crush on her since I was a kid. Saw her live a number of times, loved everything she did, my Parents listened to Jazz and blues so I developed an ear for it early, thought this was a brilliant version of a Man’s World.
Difficult to believe, but Renee improved with age. "Difficult Woman", produced by Paul Kelly, is a stripped back, bare bones gem, no, a rare diamond, one of the greatest albums of all time by anyone.
I met Renee in 1983 , unfortunately it was at a drug dealer home ,but only at the insistence of a friend who was already there , telling me on the phone “ Quick you have to come here Because Renee Gayer is here , but I. Couldn’t understand what he was saying because he was whispering on the phone, anyway I met with her and she was lovely, inviting me to her next gig , got to say she was so much better looking in real life … RIP Renee ❤
I met her in Adelaide year's and year's ago along with Marcia Hines , Little River Band, Joe Camilleri, Stylus , and other great bands ,,Oh and Iron horse.Awesome ,,her voice,,sultry👍🙏💗
Wasted .... As she was always I had th pleasure of growing up around renny.... She was my aunty's best friend always over at our house for a a night cap .... If you know what I mean night full of pipes n stones 🤣🤣 haven't seen her since I was 15 I'm 27 now lol
don't know what you mean, but my understanding is just we aren't or weren't big enough to sensationalise her, being worthy of, I adore her talent, but she was appreciated at that time to the best that could be
Yep. Australia was at its peak with tall poppy syndrome at this time. But...she yearned for America and the authentic world her voice seemed to have come from.
🕯 i’m heartbroken to hear of your passing yesterday.. 🥺😢 your records brought so much joy and great times to our household. i will be eternally grateful to my parents for introducing us to your soulfulness.! #legacy #soulful #sublime #devine #tooyoung you shall be dearly missed, but never forgotten.! ~heartbreaking~ 🥺😢😭 ✌🏻🇦🇺🌏✌🏻
