That was quite educational. I've hand fitted tyres before with levers so I know the struggle is real and waiting for the pop onto the bead is always nerve racking but those split rims take it to another level!
Agree with you working with split ring rims, I always worry about them blowing off when inflating , tnt agri tyres in ludlow shropshire have got 23 X 5 tyres (Solideal ---- I know it says solid but they are a thick wall tyre that are filled afterwards, but have a word with them and they could advise) bit cheaper at £69 each bit cheaper than the Mitas fl-07's, hope this helps.
@@stevehill4615 yes, I worked with them when I worked on the coaches back in the mid 80's. It was a family firm and the old man did them all himself with no cage to be seen 😮 He hated the modern tubeless cos it meant he had to pay the tyre men to come and do it for him. In fact we did a lot of things that we wouldn't dream of doing now, like running six cylinder diesels while they were hanging on the engine crane 🫣🫣 Thanks for info on the tyres. I will do some research at a later date.
Yes, I was thinking that at the time, plus as well, as a detergent it will let water creep further in, a bit like washing a car with fairy; same problem. However, it was all I had and it wasn't going on any other way. When I do it properly, I will do it properly :)

The fairy will make your rims rust even more it has salt in it car shampoo would be a better bet.
