Just spent a week walking in the Yorkshire Dale's, I had a Bill Nelson tee shirt on and was meandering through the village of Kettlewell when I was stopped by a fellow walker who commented on the shirt. Turns out this lady was from Croatia and had been a BBD,Bill Nelson fan since her youth......we spoke for an hour or more purely on how Bill's music had influenced our lives. We went our separate ways both in agreement that we have been blessed by his musicality. The man is a genius.
Bill is an absolute incredibly talented musician never had true recognition he deserves the way he had to battle with record company an utter disgrace keep at it bill. We love your stuff and your good self. ❤
100% correct. Im nearly 62 still wish i had seen BE BOP DELUXE live. That would round it off for me. All my heroes of music. Seen Bowie, seen Tom Waits seen Television, Bill would have been awesome.
Dunno if you guys gives a shit but if you're stoned like me atm then you can stream all of the latest series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my brother lately =)
I've seen Bill Nelson up close play guitar and it's a life-changing experience, it's like he is channelling the raw energy of the cosmos through his guitar.
Fuuuuucccckkk. I've loved this guy's music since 75, here I am 2015 in Cha Am Thailand crying my eyes out at the beauty of his music. Bill Nelson you are a fucking genius, thank you for all the joy you've given me over the years!
@@mstrain5667 Nice. I saw and met them on the Modern Music tour in 1977. Lovely guys all and Bill was gracious and modest as he sat hugging his then girlfriend Jan. Memories. Can't beat 'em.
Now that was beautiful. I know most of my generation love Bill Nelson from his BBD days but I can take or leave most of his glitter pop-rock - However, his album "The Love That Whirls" changed my life as a guitar player. I still can be transported when he does these incredible instrumental interludes. I know this one is from a later album but they are all of a type that I find exquisite. Similar in style to the classic Fripp-Eno collaborations. Of course Bill did these recording all on his own. Nice to see him still out there and being appreciated.
Thank you God, for blessing us with BILL NELSON. How can one man produce such emotional, enchanting and mystical music and lyrics. Jesus Bill we all Love You.
For Gods sake Bill, I have to get a D’angelico now to go with the Gretsch, the Peerless and the rest hanging in my spare bedroom. The wife will kill me. Been a fan since ‘75, thanks for everything and Viva Yorkshire!
I'm such a fan of Bill and his music. Shaped my world as a guitarist and I strive even now to reach his state of zen when playing. Thank you for everything Bill!
Absolutely sublime . The only time I saw Be Bop Deluxe was if my memory serves me correctly round about 1974 /5 at Strathclyde University , Glasgow . Something tells me they supported Cockney Rebel !!! I wish I could be clear on that but 40 years is a long time and the old brain cells have taken a pounding along the way .
I think you're right. I know they definitely DID support Cockney Rebel on a tour, but I can't remember the year. Though I remember hearing at the time that they blew Harley & co offstage!
Ug. I saw Cockney Rebel open for the Kinks when they debuted "School Boys in Disgrace" in NYC '76. I was in the first row and dosed. I hated Cockney posing Rebel (as did most of the Kinks faithful). Being in the first row at the Beacon Theater for the Kinks' production concerts in that period was amazing. Headmaster don't beat me I beg you...
Bill Nelson. Such a wonderful guitar player. I see him using an E-Bow and I think of one of Bill's more high profile acolytes, Stuart Adamson, God Rest Him. Lovely. Absolutely lovely. Thanks very much.
I own this DVD cd ..Bill's in his 70s now but hes a waaaaaaaay underrated artist and him and Bruce Cockburn...my faves ...followed them since their beginnings almost!
Bebop Deluxe 5th row floor, at the L.A. Forum in 1976. Camped out and got tickets, had the whole left side of the row and brought a lot of friends (had Rodney Bingenheimer kicked out of our seats by security...now that was fun!). I had a telephoto lens and I have some awesome pictures from that show. Almost as close, but a bit more 'air' above and behind...LOL! Awesome, as always, Mr. Nelson!
+John Codling Just seen your post. How brilliant is it that we can listen to this genius in Thailand after all these years, and are able to spread the word too. Lovely cool grey-ish day in Cha Am 555
What an amazing talent this man is from the first time I saw be bop deluxe I have been in awe of this great guitarist long may be reign as one the best electronic wizards 😎
When was it? 1976 or soemthing walked into my local dance hall thurs night Bebop deluxe///who the hell are they never heard of them Guv! THEN Bill Nelson started playing and I knew that this musician was somethign special..hooked ever since well I'm 58 so he must be early 60's..?
Close your eyes and he's taken you back to 1977. "You can meet me in the air age if you like, but I'd dearly like to go back to my own time!" You de man, Bill.

Oh Billy. Man if i were a woman......I would. Overwhelming beauty from a warm heart. Elevated and masterful story telling. x Changed my perception on art, sound, texture and appreciation since the recording of 'live in the air age" which i attended as a 16 year old. I went on to have much chart success infront of and behind the desk. I owe that to you. Thank you.
he is still the BEST…. Master Music Manipulator - including Guitar, Vocals, Lyrics, etc etc for what? all his BBD + RN albums for how long now? FIFTY YEARS and still…? draw in the musically curious and KEEP THEM!! any bird, hitchhiker, friend, mate, etc ALWAYS asked.. WHO IS THIS?? WHERE do I find him?? and was alway suitably saddened to know that North America was now more or less OFF the beaten track… but happily - still available on CD… and yet still: SO - TOTALLY - WORTH - IT…
Bill Nelson is one of my all time favorite guitars and a big influence on my playing. His sense of melody when he solos is right up there with Django in my opinion. I was lucky enough to see him with Be Bop Deluxe twice back in the 70's. Note to self: use your darn Ebow, its just been laying there on a dusty shelf!
Seen be bop deluxe late 70s strathclyde Uni Glasgow stood right beside him on a foot high stage… genius.. and the late great William Stuart adamson.. got his guitar influence of Nelson.. bill thought very highly of Stuart in the skids.. then one of the best bands live…that not many could match at there peak.. big country.. Nelson wrote if there is heaven it’s gates are open to Stuart.
If Mr Nelson ever decided to try out for one of Simon Cowel game shows the World would finaly have the pleasure of hearing his most excelent sounds. Mr. Bill Nelson belongs among the best of the very best when it comes to playing the six string electric guitar. Go on Bill give Simon a call.. if the world thought Susan Boyal had talant ? what the hell do ya think thy'll do when the masses hear you make your guitar sing.
What a great sound saw be bop deluxe many times this man still turning out fantastic guitar great player carry on bill one of the best better than most famous names in the game
Most there are older age groups..the kids noe don't know about this kind of stuff. So many times I would play her From my collection she would listen study it in silence.. And after say..I have never heard anything like that before

Bill's an absolute genius, his playing his compositions paint beautiful musical soundscapes.

ONE OF THEE GREAT MASTERS OF SOUND...Phenomenal guitar player...ETC
100% correct. Im nearly 62 still wish i had seen BE BOP DELUXE live. That would round it off for me. All my heroes of music. Seen Bowie, seen Tom Waits seen Television, Bill would have been awesome.
Absolutely 💯
No better guitarist or musician on the planet than Bill Nelson. Fact. I've followed this guy for decades & his range of musicality is astounding.
I agree 100%. I've loved his playing from the first time I saw him perform with Be Bop Deluxe in 1975. He is the best in my opinion.
Totally agree he's definitely a musicians musician and a prophet... Just listen to the lyrics of "New Precision" and Blue Moons and Laughing Guitars
the most under rated guitarist on the planet, as good or better than any, ANY.. of the greats
No, Bill rates very high among GP's and yes he is better than all those cats by leaps and bounds.
One of the few times that I agree with that statement but it's so true..
Agreed saw him in Edinburgh late 70s. Be bop deluxe one of my faves ❤️🎸🎶
Bill Nelson is only underrated to the under-observant.
Dunno if you guys gives a shit but if you're stoned like me atm then you can stream all of the latest series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my brother lately =)
Bill Nelson = Genius...no simpler than that...pure genius!
I agree 100%. My favourite guitarist of all time. A genuine musical genius with enormous range and output. An Innovator of the highest quality.
Long time fan, this is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. It's like heaven.
I've seen Bill Nelson up close play guitar and it's a life-changing experience, it's like he is channelling the raw energy of the cosmos through his guitar.
Nothing to touch this..
What a drama Queen

Everytime I hear this, it brings tears to my eyes...
It is stunningly beautiful. Knowing it comes from the person Bill Nelson only amplifies the tears...
I have followed the music of Bill Nelson for nearly 39 years, this is perhaps his finest composition. Beautiful beyond words
My favourite guitar player of all time. Musical genius up there with Page, Clapton, Hendrix, Gilmour and all the other guitar greats etc etc.
What a beautiful song. The lead guitar reminded me of another of his songs called My Ever Gleaming Gleamatron. Just beautiful.

I was playing trombone, heard this amazing guitarist and learnt guitar. Was around 11.So underrated,sublime......Viva Bill Nelson
The first part of the guitar reminds me a little of Mick Taylor in Winter.
Bill Nelson is a treasure.

Bill Nelson has a presence that makes his artistry seem so natural.
This is really unique !!
Thanks Keith. I did do a bit of Googling, and I discovered it is indeed the D'Angelico. Thanks for the confirmation.

How can you play just two chords over and over and not make it boring?
SIR.....BILL NELSON......!!
That run up the neck at 3:10 to 3:20 is rather exceptional if I do say so.
Stunning
Taught me all of the theory I know, this cat.
Bill claims to not know any theory; not even names of notes. That's why I see him as a musical savant.
There are tons of bands/musicians who should give Bill Nelson his due.
Oasis, Cocteau Twins and Duran Duran all exhibit BBD's influence in their work.
Nelson wrote the theme to a Scottish mystery series...anybody out there know it's name? Unbelievably beautiful
Nobody could complain about the VOLUME ...
Yeah!
God Man Slain.... F/ing Brilliant !!!
Brilliant, after all these years. I wonder what it would sound like if he teamed up with Robert Fripp?
