It was a time not very far back, nor in recent past also. It was called the golden era in every walk of life be it hindi film Dom, people, culture, religio. People didn't have gadgets in their hands yet shared their love affection ideas amongst others. By the glimpses of the chowringhee crossing itself, the flashback is afresh in my memory.
I was 4 yrs old in 2000s born in Girish Park, Kolkata. What makes me amaze and happy tht walking ppl don't have Mobile Phones nd they actually looking the world and giving attention to other Human beings which lacks in today's world.
Blue matador was there at that time now extinct. Also the black yellow taxis, wooden big public buses, S-15 like CSTC buses, mini buses of TATA 1210 make, Hindustan make, 3wheeler tempos with front exhaust are a few of the lot that stole the attraction.
I was 8 years old in '97. Probably in 4th or 3rd grade. Except for the Ubers and Olas, almost everything remains the same as it was in '97. It was a different period of my life. Even then I was anxious, at 35 now, with 'Ghar, Achha Naukri' everything (except marriage which I detest verily) , I still remain anxious.
Anxious as in general anxiety? If yes, welcome me to your tribe. Just that I am nearly 48. Anxiety has ruined a big part of my life and continues to do so. It's hard to focus on tasks. What do you do now? Thanks and God bless you and your family. I am a divorcee and don't have anyone at home.
The year I got married and still remember the feeling of being in love with someone. I did my marketing from Park Street and Burrabazar and for that I used to travel all the way from Durgapur. Calcutta, had that old world charm that I miss now. Never thought at that moment that communism will be a thing of the past.
Everything is "Blue and White" now .. the day is not far off , when GPO, Writers Building High Court ,Assembly House and Eden Gardens will also have the same color scheme.
Damn sorry about your loss. I wasn't even born in 1997 as I was born in December 2000 so I just turned 23 like 3 weeks ago and I am a guy. I just sat on ambassador taxi in Kolkata like 3 days ago when I went there to meet my aunt but my hometown is Siliguri in North Bengal and I mainly live in Bangalore.
@@spilltea4241 Well that's a separate issue of its own but even that has reduced significantly over the years. Half of kolkata is running on their labour. We still find shortage of labour on a regular basis. There are many deep issues with kolkata and it would be nice if you try to fix the real issues instead of blaming it on someone whom you hate. Among many other things going wrong, the worst has been the education system of Bengal. Hailed to be one of the most educated states has gone down to the gutter.

I was 9 years old, no tensions of life, watching Shaktimaan, playing outdoors...great era..the 90s
Yes. I consider myself lucky to have seen the 90s and the 80s. I was 20 in 97.❤

Good to see Grand Hotel arcade free of encroachment.
True and it is sad nowadays hardly any space to walk due to encroachments

3 wheeler tempos were exciting to watch. I also miss those black taxis.

I was in class 2 in 1996. I wish I would have listened to songs of Mohiner Ghoraguli since then.
The year I got married and still remember the feeling of being in love with someone. I did my marketing from Park Street and Burrabazar and for that I used to travel all the way from Durgapur. Calcutta, had that old world charm that I miss now. Never thought at that moment that communism will be a thing of the past.
Benachity was far more awesome. Chitraloy the greatest Single screen ever.
Could see double decker, feeling very emotional.
Icon street of Calcutta.Still remember the horse tongas in the 50s
Wow. Very nice..
The city was clean before the Biharis arrived
💯
Roads were much better and cleaner then. Now roads are like mini plateaus and mountains.
Those Golden memorable days.
At that time two wheelers were very less in numbers.
Watching from future

Older parts of the city generally doens't change especially a city as backdated as kolkata.
