Let's be honest: being white, heterosexual, flashy and REALLY good makes Caitlin Clark the most marketable asset the WNBA has EVER had! I didn't know who A'ja Wilson WAS until Clark joined the league.

Caitlin Clark is polarizing only to women, especially black women--both players past and present and media figures. Men, black and white, appreciate CC's game. I give Angel credit for elevating her game and making a name for herself...even though not always in a good way. She's a feisty competitor with no quit in her. However, when it comes to sheer skill and the impact on the WNBA, Clark is a generational talent who can do almost anything on the court; most notably, attract new viewers and make her teammates better. She is adapting to the pace and physicality of the WNBA insanely fast, making a losing franchise relevant, and already breaking records in less than one season. No one is saying the other players in the league don't matter. Of course they do. It's a unique collection of stars and personalities that Clark herself has praised numerous times, both past and present. Regardless, the reason people can't wait to watch Caitlin is because her style of play is riveting, you feel as if something incredible or historic could happen at any moment. She's a genuinely good person who is refreshingly honest, ignores the hate, and overcomes the pressure to deliver memorable performances and storylines. That's what icons like Jordan and Gretzky did....they transcended the game, cultures and stereotypes....a guard can't dominate the NBA, a weak pretty boy won't survive the ice. And because we don't know how long she'll play or be able to continue performing at an elite level, fans should simply appreciate what she brings to the table: excellence and excitement. She's not only making the WNBA far more lucrative for players, owners, networks and merchandisers, she's raising the level of play and expectations across the league because so many want to beat her, or be like her.

If MVP means "most valuable player" then how can anyone compete with sold out arenas and unparalleled TV ratings. Caitlin is bringing in at least $50 million extra dollars to this league THIS YEAR ($40 million to Fever and $10 million to other teams). If you think that just points should determine the MVP then why have a highest points award? Including points, assists, etc in the total means that Caitlin is in second place and it it isn't even close. As far as how much Caitlin means to the Fever, Mitchell, Boston, Smith and Hull were on the team last year. They came 3rd last with the same coach as this year (no play offs for the last 8 years). Caitlin is the only major difference and she has got this team changed to a totally different way of playing basketball (it's called exciting basketball). Caitlin is the reason for the charter flights for away games ($25 million for this year). Caitlin (with her TV ratings of 300+% more viewers is the reason the league will get $2.2 billion over the next 11 years ($200 million per year). When Caitlin comes to town, many of the teams put an extra $1 million in their bank account (from increased ticket sales and increased prices) which happens to no other team. 18 TV games over 1 million views and 16 were Caitlin Clark.
What part of "most" or "valuable" doesn't apply to Caitlin?

Just a question? people say that A'ja Riyadh Wilson is the best Basketball player in the WNBA, so I thought I would run this past those people.
    How about flipping Wilson from the 21 & 12, 2024, or the two-time League Champs, 34 & 6 2023, & 26 & 10 2022 Las Vegas Aces?
Send Wilson to the 2024, 2023, 2022 Indiana Fever and flip Caitin Clark to the 2024, 2023, 2022 Las Vegas Aces,
Would you see Wilson's stats being as good, and would you see Clark's stats being even better? My thoughts are that Clark's stats would be crazy good, and Wilson's might be better or maybe not be so good.
After all, Wilson is a great player on a great team, doing great things, I mean just how much of a bonus there is to have 5 other players who were chosen to go to the Olympics as teammates, and who were also teammates as the ACES won the league back to back
Clark is just a player who has taken the worst team over the past two years and brought them into the Playoffs.
Considering the talent and where she has taken that talent and the great things that have been happening speak to her talent as an MVP and if you put Clark with that Acesw talent, there would be no ceiling for how far that team would go..

Caitlin Clark is not polarizing the other WNBA players. The rest of the WNBA players are just angry or jealous about these facts, which I posted before: Caitlin Clark is a generational, record breaking, incredible basketball player, a diplomate in handling the referees the media, and the players. She is an accomplished, successful businesswoman, a multi-millionaire, a national celebrity, an international phenomenon, and the other WNBA players, the WNBA coaches, the WNBA executives, the referees, the retired WNBA negative talking-head announcers, podcasters, and commentators, ARE NOT. The players are jealous haters and the negative talking-head announcers, podcasters, and commentators are not good enough to honestly do what they are supposed to be doing - simply telling the truth.

  • @sardonicus76

Nancy Lieberman is doing her best to avoid the straight, white elephant in the room. Her Michael Jordan comparison is just silly and completely dishonest. MJ wasn’t immediately despised by most of the league when he entered the NBA. Other teams weren’t trying to hurt him out of jealousy. The Pistons roughed him up when they were in their “Bad Boys” phase, but they did that to every team’s best player. MJ was adored by the media and respected by the competition. Larry Bird famously referred to him as “God” when he dropped 63 on the Celtics in the ‘86 Playoffs.
The truth of the matter is that Caitlin Clark is a straight, white basketball player who avoids drama and does her job exceptionally well. This doesn’t sit well with a large percentage of non-white and/or non-straight WNBA players, coaches and commentators who either aren’t playing or didn’t play the game at her level. Therein lies the so-called “controversy”.
It’s time to stop making excuses for the inexcusable and just call it what it is: racism, anti-hetero bias and jealousy. If Clark was either a minority or a member of the LGBTQ community, the same people who are ripping her in the media and pummeling her on the court would be singing her praises at full volume.
