Came looking for a fingerboard repair video. Was not expecting to hear "The Book of Love" _in italiano_ . What an awesome combination!

ehm. This video should be called how to prevent replacement of the fingerboard in the future with the chemical glue....
Everything demonstrated in this video was a perfect example of all possible mistakes one can make.
You dont wan't to plane like this, you don't want to scrap the neck like this, you don't want to use chemical glue, you really want to measure fingerboard geometry and possibly fix it before gluing it back on the instrument and you want to double check the fingerboard is at right angle, height and perfectly aligned so it is not running on the left or right side.

Is it easy to remove the fingerboard ? And its super glue on is that wrong for the cello?

This particular fingerboard came to me like this. All I'm doing is removing the old glue so I can get a clean wood to wood glue joint. It depends what glue was used on the instrument you're working on. Wood glues or Hide glues are tough but can be moved with heat and moisture. If its epoxy or some sort of resin, good luck...I wouldn't recommend trying it yourself if you're unfamiliar with the process. It's likely you may damage the finish. If its a cheap instrument and you don't care about how it looks then go ahead but if its a nicer instrument you should contact a local luthier in your area. Wood glue or Hide glue. That's what you would want to use. Hide glue on nicer instruments and wood glue on cheaper ones. Do not use super glue. Best of luck with your project.

@@dbnwoodland Do it right. Use hide glue.

Superglue is not good .. but I used Gorilla glue for a cello and it was still going strong after two years. The problem is that if you make a mistake you can't remove it, while using hide glue you can rectify a mistake.

Yeah, the reason for using hideglue instead of school glue is that hide glue dries to a crystalline joint, tranferring vibrations better than pva wood glue. That owner might as ŵell just have done themselves. Then again, in this wasteful age, you simply throw away that cello or screw someone out of money on ebay and simply buy another one made in China.
